no, it happens with a new name, your social security number stays the same, as does your date of birth (obviously) and your birth certificate.

However, you can legally have as many aliases (passports) as you like, for a price. As soon as you take one of those passports into a bank (not strictly legal), along with maybe a utility bill in that name, and open even a basic account, bingo, new credit file. And then you can do allsorts. Seriously.

Well good luck with that, but I can assure you, when you try and buy a house and you put your social security number down that has a bad credit history attached to it, it won't matter if your new name is God, you aren't getting your house......lmao.

Good luck with what exactly? I haven't done it, but it's fact. I became aware of the loophole through my old job working in the compliance department of the Inland Revenue. You're wrong about not being able to obtain houses. I know of people who've obtained cars, houses, new driving licenses after being banned in previous names. There was even a guy who'd changed his name, and all he had was a basic bank account with a £100 cheque guarantee card. He'd gone to the cashpoint & pressed the 'order new chequebook' button, once a day, for what must have been a long time, then proceeded to pay one cheque for £100 into another account under a different name (with cheque guarantee details on the back of each cheque) every day. As the cheques were guaranted, they all cleared. He swindled a major bank out of around 26k, then just stopped using that name, so the bank were chasing a ghost.
