Exactly what I felt as well.Plot wise this reminds me of A Ghost Story.

He's one of those directors like Ridley Scott who can make as many bad movies as he wants but his career will never really be tarnished because of it due to what he's got on his resume. In his case we're talking Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cast Away, etc.I liked the concept, but I expected it to get bad reviews. Zemeckis hasn't been great for a while
Zemeckis has really been on a downward spiral, huh? I feel like the last actual good movie he did was The Walk and only like 10 people saw it (I was one of them).
As far as his animated movies go I thought Beowulf and A Christmas Carol were fine but I was disappointed by The Polar Express because it was one of my favorite books as a kid and the movie by comparison just feels hollow. That’s the thing though, people kind of wrote him off post-Polar Express, but he’s actually made some pretty good films since. As you mentioned, The Walk and Flight are pretty great!
I also have a soft spot for Beowulf and A Christmas Carol which I think is highly underrated. I know the mo-cap doesn’t hold up at all, but on their own those films are actually pretty good with some stellar performances. I just know people can’t get past their look.

In any case I'd still take any of them over The Witches or Pinocchio.
At least he had the sense not to direct that one.Mars Needs Moms?![]()
His studio, his fault. At least he had the sense not to direct that one.
I lowkey wish that his Yellow Submarine movie came to fruition because look how horrifying:His studio, his fault.![]()
