Heroes Reborn General Discussion

what a joke... this show just ain't happenin' for me... I'm gone...

I don't buy for a second that Claire is dead. Kring can claim it until the cows come home, but in the end, there wouldn't be a big mystery about a major character's fate, that is motivating the actions of one the main characters, if the payoff is going to be "there is no mystery, the answer is exactly what we originally told you, she is dead!"

I do find it a little bit off that neither Peter nor Sylar have even been mentioned in passing. Hell, Sylar would be the poster boy of the anti-evo movement. He is basically their worst nightmare personified. He'd be their Bin Laden. I am glad these characters aren't back...but at least acknowledge their existence.

At any rate, episode 3 is just more of episode 1 and 2, which is just more of the original series. Too much going on, too many characters, very little of it connected, and by the time the writers finally bring it all together, the audience will be too worn out to care and it will feel contrived anyway.

Multiple plots are fine, but when you are working with a serialized story (especially in the context of a finite mini-series), the plot needs to be tightened. Each character needs to have a clear and defined role in the plot. The story cannot be just a bunch of random things happening to each character, with no connection to or repercussions for the other characters, and then it all just happens to get forced together at the very end (with very little rhyme or reason). This type of shoddy writing is what killed the original show. Kring clearly has not learned his lesson. I cannot help but feel that his talents would be much better suited to a more episodic show than a serialized one.

This show needs to be structured more like Game of Thrones. There are so many plots and characters that you go cross eyed just thinking about it. But in the end, they are all connected to a CLEARLY DEFINED central plot. All of their actions further that central plot and have effects on the other characters. Sadly, it just isn't happening.

In closing, random theory time: teleportation kid (isn't it a sad statement of how forgettable these characters are when I can't even remember their names?) is Nathan Petrelli's illegitimate son (much as Claire was his illegitimate daughter) and penny guy made the "promise" to protect him to Angela.

Finished the first two episodes last night and I'm really not feeling this show. I don't know if my tastes have changed or if TV has gotta that much better, but nothing really clicked for me in the episodes. When we have Flash just going for it and being a total comic book on TV, Daredevil completely crushing it in the more dark dramatic storyline, Arrow as a fun middleground and the Jessica Jones promos just looking spectacular, Heroes just feels boring. There wasn't one storyline that really clicked with me. I'll probably give the third episode a chance, but I have a feeling that this show's season pass will be deleted.

Man! The Japanese people in this show are exactly Hideo and the other guy that I forgot his name. I mean, the exact same characterization!

This is definitely a huge MEH, It's already suffering problems s2-4 had but comes off worse to me because I just can't get into the new characters like I was for most characters of the original series

It's ok but nothing special. Will continue to watch. In Kring I trust. :csad:

Eh. Why is it ALWAYS a teen that has to save the world? :whatever: I mean ALWAYS with this show!! :argh:

Speaking of there's a theory that Tommy/Malina are siblings I mean both destined to save the world, both has protectors watching over them, and both are the same age. it reminds me of Peter/Nathan Malina=Peter, Tommy=Nathan, maybe their not only siblings but their Petrelli siblings. :yay:

The most enjoyable thing from ep3 was Levi's reveal, which I was spoiled on :(

Other than that, it was alright. I'm liking the new villain at least. It's tacky but rather refreshing compared to how the latter seasons of Heroes just revealed that everyone's parents knew each other and were EEEVILLL!!111

That caught me off guard as well. Episode was decent but thus far this series has been nothing like the first season of Heroes.

Joane is growing on me.....

like a cancerous tumor. She needs to go.

1st reference of Sylar in this series.

Still don't care for Hiro 2.0.... I mean Katana girl.

Former soldier guy is alright. He's their Terry McGinnis since Noah is their Batman.

Really like multiple dude.

Last night's episode hit a 1.2 rating in the initial overnights

Time to hit the panic button. The show is losing viewers faster as it goes along, which is alarming. The biggest drop should be from week one to week two but not this time.

Week 1: 2.1
Week 2: 1.9 (~10% drop)
Week 3: 1.6 (~17% drop)
Week 4: 1.2 (~24% drop)

The numbers for this week could still be adjusted down, but even if they get adjusted up this is still a red flag.

If this trend doesn't turn around, and fast, this show won't be around for long.

It doesn't deserve to stick around. They could of came back with something awesome. Instead it's the same crap as before. **** 'em.

I agree. They should have started the show with a bang but it has been the exact opposite. Also not bringing back the most likable members of the original cast is stupid.

Most of actors probably declined or were busy with other projects.

The Petrolli guys were? I haven't seen them in anything with the exception of Nate in AoS.

I never finished Heroes so I hesitate a lot before watching but it's nice for now.
Some part are too rushed though and the fx aren't very good.
"Something inhuman" :sly:

Milo Ventimiglia's on that other ABC show The Whispers. He was also on Gotham a few months back.

Milo is in The Whispers on ABC of course it may not get a second season, also he really doesn't want to return, he's see's Heroes like a ex-girlfriend. I read somewhere Kring said at the end of Reborn we will find out Peter/Claire's fate. :yay: EDIT speaking of ex-girlfriends lets not forget who he dated when the show was on.

Adrian Pasdar does a ton of voice work. Most notably he voices Tony Stark in Avengers Assembled and the various Marvel video games.

Milo was in Jason Statham movie Wild Card as the main villain.

As I said before the showrunners should have only agreed to continue this show if the original cast all came back. We had 4 seasons of the same characters, characters that we loved and cared for and felt like we knew. Now all of a sudden they're just out there, somewhere doing F all. As someone said above there is no way this new world ending phenomenon would be happening and the originals would not be doing something about it. The very fact that noah isn't going straight to them for help makes no sense. They were a team of heroes who saved the world numerous times and always stuck together.

There's also the fact that Nathan is dead. I'm alright with none of the characters returning except HRG, I think it allows for a clean, fresh start, which is what this show needed since it go so bogged down with all these characters and overly complicated relationships (not that Kring fixed that in Reborn either but...)

The work in Iceland that acts as the land beyond the Wall in Game of Thrones has spoiled me with regards to snow scenes. The Malina girl and her caretaker provide some good mystery, as if there's some super society of superpowered beings preparing for something big.

Levi's character Luke is by far the best part of the show for me alongside HRG. His wife's crazy vendetta against all powered people is kinda heavy-handed and therefore kinda bland. There isn't a lot of subtlety to her at all where at least Kring tries to make Luke a complex character. He has solar powers? I think his storyline being rather self-contained (though he will no doubt come into play as whatever Malina and her invisible friend will need help stopping) helps his character out.

The reference to Sylar was nice and it's fairly obvious what Renatus is doing with Miko's dad. The Japanese was yet again, terrible.

A better episode. I feel like we need a powered person on HRG's side to make things a bit more interesting when it comes to battles. A flyer, telekenetic, etc. They've had agents like Thompson before but I feel like HRG's escapes are pushing it just a bit. The Haitian was pretty OP but one of the better characters on the show and they should've kept him around. Though, in a storyline about eradicating powered people, having an evolved human who can negate others powers might sorta be funky.

Seems HRG killed Claire himself (or put her in some sort of protection/hiding) in order to keep her power from being used for whatever reason (seems Erica has something in mind for her scheme, hence going after Malina as option B). I guess no one else would have it in that case, but why else would he insist on having himself not remember?

Liking it more with each ep.
