He's The Secret Weapon... David Ayer IS the Director and Script Writer

I loved End of Watch. I personally think that's Ayer's best movie to date.

End of Watch
Fury
Harsh Times
Street Kings
Sabotage

Is how I'd rate them.

"Fury" was so historically inaccurate and fights and effects were over the top and unrealistic (for example, that tank fight scene and the way they depicted tracer fire) that it was barely watchable to me. But the same over-the-topness that made "Fury" a very bad film to me (I aim for accuracy when watching a period piece, especially a WWII film, sue me :p) is what makes me excited about "Suicide Squad". This is were Ayer's style is going to shine I think.

David Ayer looks a lot like Jeremy from Cinema Sins.

Lol, I don't know if fictional films are the place to look for accuracy, period piece or otherwise. But do you homie. :woot:

Well I don't expect 100% accuracy, as there never is one with movies, but if there's one genre where it makes sense to expect some it would be period pieces. Especially since today it is so easy to get all the information needed. There's no excuse for not doing your homework when writing a script (or a book, as a matter of fact) anymore.

And there have been some great period piece films that were were staying historically true, including World War films.

My father drove a tank, including some WWII tanks. He found FURY pretty accurate, considering.

David Ayer looks really intense here.

Just finished "End of Watch," The movie was great aside from the found footage ******** which COULD have worked better had it been shot more like an episode of cops. I can see why some would say it's Ayer's best film, but I personally feel Fury was a much better film.

As far as Fury's historical accuracy is concerned, its honestly irrelevant. It was a movie made for purposes of entertainment not a documentary made for the purposes of education. There are plenty of critically acclaimed movies out there that are historically inaccurate, the Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything comes to mind.

David Ayer

I believe in old school filmmaking. Real stunts. Real people. Real places. It makes all the difference on the screen. Thank you #Toronto

I'd rather them focus on making an entertaining film. Save the homework for a documentary.

One does not exclude the other. As someone who works on fictional stories I couldn't disagree more. Just because a work is for the large part fiction it doesn't give its author excuse to neglect those parts of the story which are not and do whatever he likes in the process.

Fair enough. Let's just agree to disagree on this one.

Well we survived the streets. Time to go dark now. Remember, only the tiniest glimpse has been exposed. Our surprises are intact.

I see that he's giving a message to those people that are saying that the entire movie has been leaked via set photos.

Anyone with any sense knows that what we've seen being filmed equates to a few minutes of screen time... and the street scenes will look different again with the sfx added.

As for Ayre's previous films – seen End of Watch, which I thought was a great film, and recently saw Fury too, which again is a good film – then last night watched Sabotage without knowing Ayre had directed it – I didn't think it was that bad of a film – one thing I would say is that he had his team 'dynamic' spot on in both Sabotage and Fury, which bodes well for SS... both were fairly gruesome though, which I can't see SS being.

Eastwood went on to discuss the stuntwork of Suicide Squad, affirming that filming the movie is a very physical process. "[It's] really physical. David is a very physical film maker. He wants everyone doing their own stuff and he doesn't hire guys who aren't willing to do that." As for physical injuries sustained on set, the actor said, "I think active guys are always living with injuries. You're always dealing with an injury. That's part of it. It's like sports. There's always something."

He then said that writer-director David Ayer's vision of the film will "really surprise" everybody.

The teenage girl is really beautiful, LAWD!! I want her for the DCCU Supergirl, LAWD!!!

Logan Lerman would be the perfect Peter Parker.

Ya'll can keep your diaper wearing Peter, Sony/Marvel dropped the ball.

Jon Bernthal also scrams DeathStroke.

If Charlie Rowe gets Spider-Man, I'll be alright. If it's one of the others... ugh.
