He seems highly motivated, lol. :p

Season 4 has not been kind to Ragnar. He's fallen so far. :(

The makeup department has done a really good job aging Travis Fimmel. BTW, I love the scenes between Ragnar and Ivar. Ragnar supports his son but he doesn't coddle him, and Ivar liked it that way.

What was that blood on Aslaug at the end about? It looked as though she were miscarrying, but that can't be right. Maybe it was part of a dream sequence.

Ivar's a scary dude! I expect he'll survive, he's too good a villain to give up so quick. I think Aslaug's blood had to do with Ivar being in trouble -one of those semi-magic coincidences the show seems to toy with now and then. Just like last episode, we once again do not know the fate of the poor slave girl. I also like Ivar and Ragnar's relationship -Ragnar shows the boy no pity, even going so far as to purposely make things more difficult for him.

Marv, I feel bad for Ragnar too! It's sad seeing him so downtrodden, though he certainly bought it upon himself. On the other end of that, it's cool seeing Bjorn come into his own and (unknowingly, it seems) take steps closer toward his destiny.

The preview for next week's episode shows [BLACKOUT]that Ivar survives. Him and Ragnar are alone and being hunted by Ecbert's soldiers.
[/BLACKOUT]

While the show hasn't stuck to the traditional history, I'd be very surprised if they introduced Ivar the Boneless only to kill him off before he does what he's famous for.

I don't fancy the chances the of the other kid who took off with Bjorn though. They've given three of the brothers (Ivar the most) a fair amount of screen time and at the very least partially established their characters. The lad who went to Rome has sort of been in the background, so expect him to bite the dust pretty soon.

I've been wanting to go back and watch the show from the beginning again so I went and bought the first two seasons and come to find out the U.S. blu-rays have the uncut European version of all the episodes. :awesome:

I think the season should end with
Ragnar meeting his fate at the bottom of the snake pit in Northumbria.

It seems like they are building up to that.

That's a definite possibility. Then next season could deal with [BLACKOUT]Ivar and his brothers getting revenge.[/BLACKOUT]

Ivar being scared of water/Asalug foreseeing his death probably refer to [blackout]one of the legends of his demise, which says he drowned in England while trying to cross a ford.[/blackout]

Maybe.

Egbert's going to bite it first though.

If Aslaug ends up killing Lagertha somehow I'm going to be furious. I'm ready for Aslaug to die. I've been ready for that ever since she showed up in Kattegat and broke up Lagertha and Ragnar's family.

Anyone else still not seeing the blue glow to Ivar's eyes..?

I love Lagertha. She doesn't go "Bye Felicia", she organizes a parade float for the goodbye girl.

And crusty ol' Ragnar, looking for a Death, just finds a lonely old friend.

Great Heathen Army setup.

King Ecbert with the foresight to think Alfred will make a deal with the Vikings one day as he does in history.

Its depressing that Ragnar is likely going to die in the next episode. And now it looks like Lagertha wont survive the season.:waa:

It feels like the show is coming to the end of an age. :(

Side note: I have a crush on Astrid.

I wouldn't count Lagertha out!

I think Ragnar staring directly into the camera when he said "Don't be afraid" was a message less to Ecbert (who I am delighted to see again!) and more to the audience. Their scenes together, as in the past, were the highlight of the show. It's so great to see, even now, that Ragnar can make people underestimate his cunning.

Aren't we supposed to find out who Jonathan Rhys Meyers i spaying before this season ends?

I think Ragnar's arc is over. As much as he is the lead of the show, i felt that he has been on borrowed time the last few seasons. I've found Rollo and Lagertha's arcs much more interesting these past few season that Ragnar's.

Yep.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers, since he was cast back in March of this year, little has been revealed about the character he will play other than he will be involved in Season 5. However, Vikings creator Michael Hirst revealed to The Hollywood Reporter during Comic-Con that Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ character will actually be introduced in the second half of Season 4 of Vikings.

“We introduce him and set the scene for the next season. He’s going to be a major player,” Hirst explained. “I am thrilled that he’s joined us and I can’t wait to explore his character.”
