History Channel's 'Vikings'

I was also indifferent to season 1 until the Vikings got to England. That's when it really picks up in quality.

They definitely took that first season finding their footing, but from season two on wards it's all gold. Also it's clear as soon as the second season opens that the shows budget got a lot bigger, so everything else goes up in quality on top of the writing.

I really liked this past ep.

The scene were Ivar crawls into Lagertha's throne room and everyone just parts like the red sea was a badass entrance..for a guy that cannot walk!

Lagertha's fate is sealed..unfortunately…. but am i the only one a little peeved that she hasn't seemed to age in all the years the show has covered…? :hmm:

The muslim woman that kept making eye contact with Bjorn i suspect will have a larger role as the season moves forward.

I thought the past episode was rather fillerish, even with the attempted assassination of Lagertha at the end. Thankfully, it appears that the action will heat up next week.

I'm intrigued by the new Arab(?) earl character we met. Also I enjoyed watching Floki and Ivar have a go at one another. It's good for Ivar to have a real friend.

Finally Ivar got his chariot !
Bjorn is the man. I wasn't expecting him to hook up with Lagertha's girlfriend and I can't wait for the confrontation between him and King Fine Hair.
Rollo's wife cursing him in old French was funny as always.

@Golgo : she can't grew up a beard so it is harder to make her look older but you can see her age, her eyes doesn't look so young.
@Best Girl : the guy isn't Arab, he just doesn't look very vikingish.

Lol, Lagertha has terrible taste in lovers. Has she ever had one that hasn't betrayed her?

With her own son no less. Wow, also Bjorn being angry about Ragnar's unfaithfulness a few seasons back suddenly looks rather hypocritical.

Also they seem to have suddenly flipped his and Torvi's personalities in order to set this up, and I don't care for it at all.

No it doesnt. Decades have passed since then. Bjorn was a young child upset about his father hurting his mother. You cant hold him to what he said when he was a child.

It's pretty noticeable, especially when Lagertha herself begins talking about age and years gone by. Her comment to Ubbe about how he reminded her of a young Ragnar really called this to attention.

It doesn't bother me a lot, but not aging her character is a little odd when they did such a good job aging Ragnar.

That comment seemed like an invitation to her bed chamber!:sly:

I thought that's what it was too! Seduce him, then he's less likely to murder her maybe.

I also really enjoyed the moment where Ubbe talked about killing Bjorn, and his younger brother laughed. Not a chance Ubbe, not a chance.

Oh I most certainly can, and I will. Especially since he's a fictional character written hypocritically. Unless there's a twist coming here, then he's doing the exact same thing that he once bashed his father for doing.

I agree.

You're being foolish. He was a child and decades have passed. People change as the age. It's stupid to hold someone to words they said as a child so long ago.

Also Lagertha isn't married to Astrid nor do they have a family together and unless I'm forgetting a scene Lagertha and Astrid made no vows of monogamy. So no it's not the same thing his father did.

...I don't think their issue with Bjorn has anything to do with him coming between Astrid and Lagertha. It's about how Bjorn has a wife and children himself, and is stepping out on his family to cheat, like his father did.

Morg's recent warning about a previous episode being graphic is probably even more warranted this week...holy geez!

I was initially disappointed we didn't get to see the actual battle, but it was obviously less a battle and more an outright slaughter. Besides, what followed more than made up for it -no need for a bloody battle when the final few scenes were so violent. I'm trying to remember if I've even seen anything that brutal on Game of Thrones.

My favorite moment this episode goes to Floki strutting across the battlefield to some awesome guitar. That man has some serious swagger!

He's Alexander Skarsgård's brother, so i guess it runs in the family.

Cool ep. I don't think we needed to see this battle, as by the look on the Kings face when he saw how many of them there was after bragging how ready he was for them, said it all. The real battle will be against King Ecbert.

Nice to see the 'blood eagle' at the end again.

On a side note, looks like 'Rollo' is now the face of tv's Taken - Liam Neeson style!

Alot of times i forget Bjorn is her son, when they're in scenes together as they look like they're the same age.

In terms of the ages of the actors it is possible, but they've gone out of their way to make Ludwig look older than he is.

The blood eagle scene was great but they didn't show the lungs over the shoulders part of it.

It was the blood eagle for sure but the producers probably thought it was graphic enough without the lungs parts.
Anyways, it was a satisfying end for King Ella, the way Ivar looked at him during the procedure was intense.

Edit: Never mind Lagertha knows.

And yeah that was a blood eagle. The Norse legends say Ragnar's sons killed Aelle with a blood eagle.

Man, when Bjorn was telling his brothers he was leader he sounded exactly like Ragnar. It was very reminiscent of Ragnar's "I am King! Not you! Not you! Not you!" speech in France.

:lmao:

King Aelle riding out with that puny army acting like it was a formidable force.

His pants wetting was tangible same for the bishop besides him.
