I can't see Gabriel Byres character living much longer, seeing as how Ragner is the star and they can't be in the same space together without wanting the other dead.

Brynes characters daughter is hot!

I love Byrnes so I hope he doesn't go TOO fast even though his character is a dirtbag. :p

Just caught episode 5 (episode 6 airs tomorrow!) and it was pretty exciting. Lots going on. I'd like to know more about Floki and why he holds the unique position he does. The little moment when Ragnar's son was giving his father advice was hilarious, I liked that a lot.

Next week looks pretty awesome :D

^^
I think it is related to him ( Floki ) being weird ( in a mystic way ) and behaving like Loki The Trickster.

Yeah, I feel like it has something to do with his mysticism too. Like he was ordering that one viking around (who looked freaking awesome when he first appeared) like it was nothing, and the guy just went along with it.

It just occurred to me that this airs on the same night as Game of Thrones and up until last week, The Walking Dead. I'm not sure if they air at the same time, but I hope that doesn't effect the rating of Vikings. I guess the viewer numbers can't be too bad seeings as the second season has been announced.

'Vikings' Renewed For Season 2 By History

History's "Vikings" has been renewed for a second season.

In the midst of its successful debut season, History ordered 10 more episodes of the historical drama centering on Viking Ragnar Lodbrok (Travis Fimmel).

The fact that History decided to renew "Vikings" should come as no surprise: The freshman drama has averaged 5.0 million total viewers in its first season, with a 1.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo.

“'Vikings' is a win win for us. As our first scripted series, 'Vikings' has paid off in a big way with critical acclaim, strong ratings and a passionate, loyal fan base," Dirk Hoogstra, History's executive vice president of development and programming, said of the "Vikings" renewal in a statement. "It came out of the gate strong and has stayed on top, solidifying History as a major player in the scripted genre, just as we are in reality. We could not be more proud of the entire cast and crew and everyone involved in the making of 'Vikings.'"

Production on "Vikings" Season 2 is set to kick off this summer and the sophomore season will make its debut on History sometime in 2014.

In the meantime, enjoy the first season of "Vikings," which comes to an end on April 28.

Nothing could please me more. I am so happy for Travis. :D

Cool.
I really appreciate that the show doesn't drag along, each episode moves the plot fast, there is no filler.

Just when I was starting to like him again. :p

Good stuff! That episode certainly shuffled along a quick pace. You're right Xavier, they certainly don't waste any time. I guess they've got a lot to get through. Especially the last ten minutes, suddenly it was winter, Ragnar's wife is well into her pregnancy and then we skip another six months or so to see the lads sailing through England.

Ragnar's son is a mean drunk.

Next week looks like fun.

I'm not a fan of Ragnar's son, he is a bit full of himself. The lad has no fighting skills yet and want to raid with the elders. Neither I like his way with the priest, he tries to emulate his father without the subtlety of his.

Another good episode.
Ragnar surely showed to the King that you don't mess with Vikings.

By Odin's beard!

That was a fantastic episode! Easily the best yet. The entire thing just seemed to get better and better as the episode went on. Jam packed with highlights. Ragnar's admiration for the king, Floki's disgust at 'Rolf'...oh man, so much good stuff. A great battle! The choreography has really improved from the earlier episodes.

And next week's preview showed Donal Logue, he's a busy fellow. Looks very interesting indeed.

I don't think Ragnar admires the King, he just tried to act kingly at his brother baptism by mimicking him.
I would think he mocks the King more than anything else.

He does. Not in the sense of "Oh man that king guy is so cool!" but Ragnar certainly has admiration/respect for certain aspects of the guy's life. Mostly his power and riches.

I don't see it as admiration or respect. Ragnar was just gauging the King wealth. His smirking smile and hand wave tell it all.

PS : not many user on the Hype seems to follow this show.

I do, I just don't comment much. I am enjoying it greatly and plan on buying the season when it comes out. I think Travis has been just great as Ragnar. :)

I like the show. I'm where the monk's storyline is going.

We'll agree to disagree, I guess. You're not wrong in that he was gauging the king, Ragnar was certainly doing that. I sensed a respect/admiration thing going on too.

More people watch TV shows than talk about them, I would be interested to know how well Vikings is doing though.

I guess but next to shows like Hannibal, Revolution and TWD, the vikings thread is like dead :)
Anyway, ratings must be good enough for it was renewed.

Note : It's fine with me but Ragnar seems to constantly have feverish eyes, like he had malaria disease.

One thing I really like about Ragnar, is how he observes more than he speaks. Sometimes he doesn't even say a word. He watches, learns, thinks, plans, judges. Only says a word when he needs too. It's really interesting, trying to figure out what he's thinking.

He's like Jax in Sons of Anarchy. He has plans within plans. :p

I thought the 1st episode of the series was good, nothing amazing or so, but things really kick-off episode by episode and i am officially hooked. Love the atmosphere, the culture, the clothing designs and just how serious the show is.
