one of the most interesting aspects of teaching history, is that one has to study it more deeply in order to fully understand it

then, as one starts delving into it, it becomes clear how some patterns are repeated as decades come and go

take this article I found, for instance

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaring_Twenties

anyone else notice parallels?

I hope this means we all start listening to more Jazz.
I also hope it doesn't mean a second rise of fascism:clown:

that started seven years ago

and we need more jazz

History is a very useful tool for preventing past mistakes, sadly, it isn't used much

Those that don't learn are doomed to repeat. That's why whenever someone says "it was in the past, let it go", those are the ones that usually end up ****ing up later in life.

and we could see how past attitudes and their consequences emerge in recent times, yet, nothing is done about it

Are you getting at that we are today more preoccupied with our own leisure then the world around us, and that is going to end up bitting us on our ass?

somewhat

This is why I love history...it helps you understand the world and see that while we may think things have changed so much, the fact is it really hasn't.

Why I chose this particular career.
