Ok,so you all think you're film buffs?A high IQ on cinema?Well,this is the thread to prove it or at least state valid opinions on subjects.Here I will start a topic that begins with my opinion on the matter.You can then argue to as why I'm right or wrong.Please no BS.The first debates are these:"Sly Stallone is a great actor and why The Rocky series is the best film franchise"

I'll start small and point out a few choice performances that prove he's great.Rocky 1-3.F.I.S.T,Paradise Alley,Victory,First Blood,Lock Up and Cop Land.

The Rocky series is the best film franchise for many reasons,but I'll start with this.There are no other films that combine Drama,comedy,action,suspense,romance and stand up and cheer excitement like this series.You can let this thread die or try to argue.Your choice

I disagree. For me, the Rocky series is well, rocky as far as overall quality goes. The first one is an undisputed masterpiece, and the second one was an above avaerage and overall respectable sequel. The third, however, while fun was a little corny. The fourth one was big rebound. I loved the David & Goliath esque vibe it gave off. The fifth was awful.

The best film series, for me, is the Indiana Jones series. All three films are of remarkably high quality, have amazing acting, directing, visuals and writing and manage to concoct a 100 % successful blend of action, humor, romance and suspense.

And yes, this thread is a bit stupid. I like it though.

The Indiana series is good.I'm not as bigfan as some.You're right it combines those elements,but what makes Rocky better for me is the fact that it speaks to me.The message that all Rocky films hold is something that most franchises lack.While they are still Hollywood films and you must suspend disbelief at times,they are still in the real world.Rocky speaks to everyman.You might have wanted to get a whip and run from a rolling boulder while stealing ***** like Indiana after watching those films.But after watching a Rocky film not only do I feel like kicking someone's a$$ who's twice my size,but I wanna be a better man.

Well, yeah, Rocky is more realistic, but quality wise I feel the Indy series is better.

But this all boils down to opinion of course.

ofcourse.There all just opinions.Which leads me into another debate we can have.Do you agree with AFI in that they said Indiana Jones is a greater cinematic heroe then Rocky Balboa?Or for that matter Rambo(who was snubbed from there list entirely)?

Indy is better than Rocky and Rambo. Rocky is better than Rambo though. I just think Rambo has no depth at all as opposed to Indy and Rocky. And Indy goes on all these adventures not only for fun but he does it for good also. He made sure Nazi's didn't get the Holy Grail. I believe that makes him the best.

Again all my opinion. You don't have to agree even though it's true.
