Homeland producers re-team for FX's "Tyrant"

This show looks so good. I saw the first look in the movie theater before X-Men DOFP and I was really impressed. Looking forward to this show!

It sounds pretty interesting. I'll definitely give it a look.

Between this and The Strain, hopefully FX has a very successful summer.

Yeah looks like two good shows to tied us over until SOA starts back up. God I love FX!

My wife is worried that this will lack strong female characters but I'm intrigued by the promos.

Hopefully the pilot wins her over.

Anyone know the premier date?

Well what started as seeing that great teaser with that wonderful Beck song that I saw occasionally has now actually gained my interest. I will definitely be checking this out.

Great article. I was worried when Raff left but after learning that he wanted the series to be "a heightened family soap opera", I think it was for the best that he left it in Gordon's hands. Although, it's a shame that Craig Wright left the project. It's actually incredible the hurdles that the series manages to overcome, so I really hope that it becomes a success.

I keep forgetting that this starts in a few days...

Could be FX overload this summer with Tyrant, The Bridge and The Strain plus their two new comedies. They're spread out over the week but when all are on in July/August it still could be too much to keep up.

Starts tonight.

I liked it a lot it was good seeing different aspects of the Arab world.

This was f***ing great. The twist at the end was brilliant. I didn't see that coming at all.

I hope this show is a hit because it's fantastic so far.

The reviews for the pilot seem to be mixed, but I enjoyed it.

Anyone else find the wife to be a bit clueless? The kids I get, most teenagers are morons but I find it hard to believe that she's never caught less than 5 min of CNN and knows how radically different and unstable the Arab world is.

She might be but let's not forget the classic case of "the characters don't know what the audience knows", she doesn't understand why out of the blue he just decides to have them all pack & leave, plus she has no idea what Barry has been through as a kid and why he needs to get out asap with his crazy brother being in charge now.

I'm actually surprised the brother survived. I thought he was going to die and then Barry was going to become the heir to the throne. I assume that's where the show is going eventually though.

Regarding the brother... man, if there was ever a justifiable case to sever a man's ****...

I really enjoyed the premier.

I'm glad Jamal isn't dead. He's the most intriguing character on the show right now, and is the polar opposite of his brother, which makes for a nice balance.

I can tell i'm going to hate the kids. Seeing as how this is from the same team that brought us Homeland, i guess that's just part of their tv format. And the wife is annoying as hell too. Why do some women pick the most inconvenient times to have a fricking heart to heart is beyond me.

Other than that i can't wait to see how it unfolds, and i'm glad Moran Atias (Jamal's wife) is back on tv. Loved her since the tv version of Crash. :hrt:

Honestly, that would have been stupid to get Ashraf Barhom & kill off his character on the very first episode :D

Oh I agree he's a great (despicable) character and losing him this early would be a misstep... I just thought that's where the show was going. But yeah, I'm glad he's not dead.

I don't find the wife and kids annoying. Naive, sure... and maybe they'll eventually annoy me but right now I'm okay with them. Also, can't wait to see more of the almost always awesome Justin Kirk (I'm just going to pretend that Animal Practice show never happened).

I think this whole first season is going to be a build towards brother vs brother. I expect Barry's American family to end up in the crossfire with one of them perhaps dying.

This show has serious potential. Hopefully we have a better idea in the next few episodes.

I thought the women who played Jamal's mistress would have a bigger role as the season progressed, as it appeared in the beginning with them showing her family, that there was more going on there, but alas she's dead.

I'm surprised some of the reviews have been so mixed/negative, because I really quite enjoyed it. I know quite a few were put off by Jamal and his actions, which is understandable, but I think a lot just look at the lead character being played by a caucasian actor and decide to write the show off on principle. I've even seen people take shots at his acting because of it, which I think is a bit much. I thought he did a good job in the sort of stoic, Michael Corleone in Part 1 of The Godfather role.

And I'm not really up to speed on the Middle Eastern views on the subject, but I'm guessing the son being gay/bi is... not gonna end well.
