Honest,.. Year end Regrets of a general Nature - What R Yours?

i regret stopping drinking.

but i started again, so wheey

Great thread filled with some really good regrets. My regrets would seem petty to some of the stories in here so I'll just say that maybe I regret spending so much time on the Hype...but in a way I don't. ;)

edit: I regret smoking so damn much this year. I haven't smoked since 1998 then this year I started again...what a waste.

If you don't quit smoking and get your ass back into the gym I'm going to give Asteroid-Man AND Ice-Man your home address, phone number and email accounts and encourage them to drop in and see you whenever they like. I expect we'll be seeing you in the Fitness thread very soon.

I regret not asking someone out when i had the chance. I have this....flaw of mines that when i'm interested in someone i tend to wait to long before i gather up the courage to ask them out. Sometimes i wait so long that the oppourtunity just fades away and i lose my chance:( ...

I should have gotten temorarily banned at least one more time...with some of the stupidity on the bat boards I really should have stopped holding back :o

also, I should have clubbed more baby seals...stupid baby seals, going around, acting like they own the place...eff them :o

My regret is the same as it has been for a few years now. I regret letting fear control my life. Over this last year however. I have have gotten better at pushing threw the fear, & moving forward, so I expect 2008 to be a bit better in this category.

hmmmn.
fear of what?

If u don't want to answer,.. I can understand that.

My only mundane fear is the physical lack of stability.

U can put me on a four inch beam more than 25 feet up and i can calmly walk it for you from one end to the other,... as long as it doesn't move.

Of course I have healthy fears too,.. the ones that are more firmly tied to survival,.. Like animals my size or larger who eat meat,.. have missed a meal,.. and are sharing my space - and me w/o an equalizer?

That for me is scary.

shy?

or never feel like you should rush?

Regrets?

Just a minor one, which was not watching Arrested Development until a month ago.

But I don't have any major regrets

Basically fear of happiness. So anything that can potentially make my life brighter I freeze up, & screw it up.

I believe that having a fear that a large animal will eat you is a somewhat healthy one.

If we split that up into 20 individual miles with a 1/2 hour break in between each...I'd be good.

oh...and make that 5 miles instead of 20...I have a life.

[blackout]no i don't...:([/blackout]

I regret not putting forth a better effort to going to a college I now wish I would've went to. Instead, I'm now at a college that I rarely enjoy being at.

Shy:o ....

It kills me everytime....

Well,...
IMHO it's NOT a self esteem problem,... Doesn't read like a fear either.

Do you require things to be perfect before you do things?

Because if you do,.. it might be what holds you back,.. makes you "shy".

You might not want to mess up.

(been there,... done that.)

Fortunate for me that I've never met a perfect person - and because of that,.. I'll say this:

Take a chance.

Don't put too much stock in it,.. don't burden the person with your wanting to wait for - whatever you think you require - Just start small and see which way it goes.

(Geez - I read like Ann Lander's uncouth brother-in law.)

Personal experience has shown me that the ones that are worth it,... you can start small with.

My first Girlfriend,.... it was a soda. My wife,... it was a random dance followed by serious convo with no pressure.

The ones who are not worth it require flash, awe, and "stupid man tricks" -24/7,...... sigh.

Give me a range please.

You fear Heart-bursting happiness,... or Solving the Mensa crossword challenge sort of happiness?

In ref to large meat eaters,.. I'm glad you agree.

The life changing happiness. Like a job promotion, relationship, or a great apartment. stuff like that. My logic is that if I once you get to the top of the mountain it is only down hill from here.

Oh.

That's easy.

Tweak your logic like I had to a while back to realize that there is no "top of the mountain" and going down is almost always a choice.

In my own field,... even if I start my own business,... it's not the top,.. cause now I'm competing with other businesses for a niche in the market.

If I become the leader in town,.. there is still state,.. then national, then worldwide.

And that would only be in one thing.

I guess I'm saying two things here:

one - Decide.

two - Do.

Let "happy" take care of itself.

(it usually comes after those lazy slugs contentment and satisfaction.)

Don't look for it. If it hits you between the eyes,.. gently remove it and take a good look at where you are at that moment.

If you want more,....worry about the good feelings on the weekends and just take note that you're feeling pretty good. See the new better apartment as the stepping stone to a house,.. See the success of the relationship as the first round,....(chuckle),.. see that promotion as validation that you have a clue and keep going.

If you are "happy" where you are at in any of the things you mentioned,... Don't relax what got you there,... but relax everything else and "check the fit."

If there is no pinching or binding,.. or you find that it's not too loose a place to be - then you can let yourself admit that this is "happiness."

I admit that the above is REAL general,... and nothing is foolproof,.. but the folk who live longest and enjoy doing it appear to run in that mindset.
