That's the question, many didn't like the version that was features in Fantastic Four 2 but i don't think a giant man dressed like that in space wouldn't work either.
So how should he be like if they ever introduce him in live action again?

Be respectful to what Kirby intended with him. Here's Odin in the comics:

And here's the film version.

Different, but they work under a certain logic. If I may, I'd prefer they drop the whole notion of Galactus's appearance depending on who is perceiving him and emphasise armour containing an energy being.

A good designer can also look at the Celestials:

Why can't this work on film? Is it any "goofier" than a man dressed in an American flag throwing a metal frisbee? Any more bizarre than an angry green giant? Does it require any more suspension of disbelief than an alternate dimension populated by Norse gods?

Galactus works. Fox was scared.

This

I agree, the Galactus design from Marvel Ultimate Alliance was perfect for live action.

Yeah, the only problem with Galactus is budget because the scale of him and his Worldship just dwarf most things.

just do old camera tricks with cg. have a guy in a suit play galactus you shoot his footage, then swap out the marker he is holding for the silver surfer and you have galactus in space talking to the silver surfer. not that difficult. the effect wouldn't be that hard, making the suit shouldn't be that hard either. galactus can work, there are no excuses for saying it can't, we have the technology we can do it.

How could Galactus work?
easy just a big ass man looking transformer

Making him work is more about how you set him up than what his look is. The script needs at take the time and care to emphasize just what a big deal he is. Because if you don't get that right then you've failed regardless of how you translate his look.

Well, of course we got what we did in FF2 because they were saving his reveal for the Surfer solo movie, but regardless just make him look like Kirby's drawings. It's not that hard. If Transformers can work on screen, and they do, then Galactus can.

I liked that huge smoke cloud idea what they had in FF2. But there should have been the real Galactus inside. Not this

I like this look

But with darker colors

Galactus in FF2 looked a little cool and scary but not the best representation.

best way is to dust off the silver surfer film and go from there.

So very true! Kaijunexus, you also bring up a good point. Fox was scared. Galactus is no more unbelievable than four people surviving a space shuttle crash and cosmic rays and then gaining superpowers lol.

How could Galactus work? Apply for a job.

I kinda liked the idea of Galactus traveling around in a cosmic storm, and using that to siphon the energy from the planet from the pits that the Silver Surfer made. It's just to bad they just only decided to only show a fiery helmet instead giving a real glimpse of the character. I get they did it so for the Surfer film wouldn't have to be beholden to the look, it's too bad though.

Fox chose not to show Galactus in the FF movie because he was being saved as the big reveal for the Surfer Movie. Had they shown him in the FF, then there would be nothing new in the SS solo/origin movie.

I know, I mentioned that in my final sentence.

And whats the current status of that silver surfer movie?

I'm not really sure how well Galactus would work. I mean he's so big. He wouldn't be able to fit in McDonalds or anything. Maybe he could get a gig mowing lawns at football stadiums.

I've had an idea for a live-action Galactus for a long time (even before the travesty of "Cloudlactus") that would help to avoid some of the possible hokiness that the studios and general audiences might find in his visual, while still keeping the idea of a gigantic armored being w/ a funky tuning fork space-pope helmet. My solution is to have Galactus be like a part of his massive worldship. Just imagine something like an indescribably massive vessel, without an interior, because Galactus wouldn't need protection from vacuum. Now imagine the FF'S spaceship moving as a tiny speck through the the "canyons" of machinery along the surface, until they finally reach the rear and find a giant "throne" of sorts, upon which sits Galactus, indescribably ancient, and with his armor and the throne/machinery AS ONE, looking like a cross between H.R. Gieger and Kirby. Make the color scheme mostly black and a dark maroonish/purple. Pale, ghostly slightly wrinkled skin, a bluish-gray color, with a bit of translucence showing veins beneath, puckered in a few spots were large conduits literally "grow" into him, feeding him energy constantly. The tuning forks on his helmet receiving perioidic arcs of electrical energy from some nearby structures of the ship. He would almost look like a statue or a strange giant alien mummy, if it weren't for the fact that his hands and head still move and his eyes glow. I think the idea of Galactus being a "part" of the ship and not having moved in eons would really drive home how ancient and completely beyond human understanding he is. After all, why would Galactus need to move at all really, he has his ship to move him through the universe, and any actions he would need to perform he could just "will" them with the power cosmic. I wish I was talented enough to draw this, because I'm afraid my description isn't enough to convey the utter, epic, awesomeness I see it as in my mind. Anyway, whatta ya think?

i like this guy http://anklesnsocks.blogspot.com/ take on Galactus...

My basic idea is that he is sort of a void of power. Make him a more visual representation of the “abstract” concept. The hole in his chest is where he eats planets. Afterwards his body physically becomes whatever main element of that planet was. So if he eats a star, his body becomes fire.

Actually, you said they did not show him in FF2 because they did not want to be bound to that design in the SS movie, I said they wanted to save his reveal for the SS movie, so there is a bit of a difference.

None of that really matters anymore. Hopefully 2012 will come and go, Fox will not make another FF movie, and the entire thing will go back to Marvel where it belongs.

If we ever get the real Galactus, they need to stick to the Kirby design. That other take above lacks the power of Jack's original design. You can monkey with the color and details, but the overall looks still needs to be Kirby.

The Destroyer in this year's Thor movie proves that Jack's designs DO translate to the big screen. The Big G is no more outlandish than the robots in the Transformers movies, and we are up to our third one of those.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it - and Kirby's Galactus ain't broke!
