How did Venom's name become public?

I believe Eddie Brock actually named himself Venom in the church when he recieved the costume, but at what point did the public or Spiderman understand that that was his moniker?

-Did he tell someone?
-Was it in a news headline?

I'm wondering because assuming he's reffered to as Venom in the next film I wonder how this will be explained. It seems like a stretch in reality for him to name himself like he actually did in the comic.
What do the people of this community think?

um, why would it be lame? TAS said it best, "We call ourselves Venom because we are poison to you."

there is not one thing lame about that. Venom is unlike most other villains, in his case, having someone ELSE name him is lame.

As some have pointed out, I dont think it'd be too lame for him to simply point himself out or call himself Venom..but if people want a more logical approach we could have Spidey go to Doc Conners to ask about the suit, Conners explaining it as a venomous organism, Spidey getting rid of it, then telling Brock, something along the lines of "Get rid of it, Brock, It's Venom!.." and he just..goes with it.

Or JJJ being the genius that he is could just call him "Venom".

Venom named himself and Jonah discovered what Venom named himself. It waas either from Carnage trying to kill Jonah, or from Jonah encountering Venom himself at the bugle. acn't remember

it could easily happen in the movie. after all Eddie works there, and he might attack peter, or he might attack jonah.

Well if we only get Venom for the last 10 minutes then the Bugle doesn't really need to know about it. He can call himself Venom and that will be that. There won't be a Venom headline at the Bugle because there won't be time from his arival to his untimely demise. Of course that's only if the rumor is true. If not JJJ may have a "stroke of genious" and figure that this guy is like Spider-man but different so he must be his Venom.

His name became public when During maximum carnage when it was revealed he was a vigilante in San Fran. also Carnage dropped his name a few times

I've always liked the cartoon idea of Venom revealing Peter's identity up on the roof in front of the public including JJJ, so what if Venom has him dangling upside down and he announces to new york:

'You want to know your saviour!!...(rips off mask)....courtesy of Venom'

notice how I intergrated spider-man's courtesy of your friendly neighbourhood phrase...get it??...WHY DON'T YOU GET IT??!!!

that quote is not in the cartoon... but i did like the scene with venom playing spidey like a puppet.

they should have them refer to themselves as Venom, like "We are Venom" is that third person, or fourth person? but that's how it should be.

But Venom in movieland will probably just growl and drowl and lick face.

Maybe after he gives JJJ the picture he possibly manipped of Spidey with the bank bags etc. He could say something about his work being Venomous of something like that
