How did Venom's name become public?

um, why would it be lame? TAS said it best, "We call ourselves Venom because we are poison to you."

there is not one thing lame about that. Venom is unlike most other villains, in his case, having someone ELSE name him is lame.

I say Venom should not refer to itself in the third person unless it comes across that the symbiote is sentient in nature. In which case I'd agree with the whole 90's TAS line for the naming.

I prefer the Lady Deathstrike/X2 way of never mentioning the name.

At least that way, the Venom die-hards can always say that Topher was never really Venom because he was never explicitly referred to by that name.

My guess is that Peter gets a picture of Venom, gives it to Jameson, they wonder what its name should be and Eddie comes in and says its Venom...

Or

Jameson puts on the cover of the Bugle a picture of Venom with some lame ass name(or mistakes him as Spiderman) and Venom breaks into the Bugle telling Jonah that he is Venom.

I think the same as ebil to an extent, i think he'll get a picture, he'll think that spidey because of when he was wearing the symbiote suit, they'll be in 'cahoots' with each other, he'll quote somehting lame such as, This is poisonous to the city, and some suck up looking for a promotion or robbie, will suggest the name, and jonah will twist it so it sounds as if he named the 'creature' we know and belove as VENOM

eh...i don't think that has anything to do with it. plus, i dont think venom's going to be advertised that much, compared to sandman/GG, since venom's the big "secret" and is only in the movie for a short period.

Most of the audience will know his name.

AND it makes it cooler when you don't have a name...yet.

Then in SM4 he is already established as "Venom" offscreen between the 2 films.

He had captured spidey or cornered him, and said something akin to "we call ourselves venom because we are poision to you" something like that I think.

That's kind of what I was hoping for too. I figure with all the villans they're talking about Venom's part should be kinda short and sweet. It would really get people pumped for a fourth movie.

Well in the 90's toon he said "we are poison to you Spider-Man, thats why we call out selves...Venom".

So either Venom will say something similar to Spidey OR JJ will name him although JJ naming him this time wouldn't work, he needs to name himself. No doubt he will name Sandman though.
