It seems that Spiderman is always avoiding, running from or defending himself from Venom for obvious reasons.
Reading the Amazing Spiderman growing up I always felt that he was helpless when he faced him because Venom was so ruthless and powerful. I don't remember Spiderman actually bringing Venom down one on one directly.
With this new film on the way it has caused me to consider: Has he ever really put it to Venom, or better yet, is he even capable?

Peace

er......yeah...

second bout spidey was getting beaten, he changed tactics to allow the symbiote to try and join with him but the feedback of being too close to brock knocked them both out.

spidey walked off, in his pants victorious...

Scarlet Spider actually beat the snot out of Venom in his first solo saga.

I think Spidey won't be able to defeat Venom in the Movie neither... IMO Green Goblin 2 will help him.

I loved the end sequence in the Ultimate Spider-Man game(only part i liked lol) where you see spidey beat the crap out of venom on top of that building.

something like that in the film would be nice!!

Spider-man only beat Venom 1 time solo in amazing spiderman #300 Where he kept cutting Venoms webbing till he ran out and fell off a skyscraper which knocked him out. he was then carried away in a glass cage by the fantastic 4.

makes me wonder how they will handle venom in the movie. maybe it's WHY THERE ARE ALL these characters in sm3?

No. He's never beaten Venom. Which is why I hate every Venom story ever written. They make Spidey into a wuss (That entire David Michelinie run had Spidey as a punk-ass). Spidey is supposed to be the guy who finds a way to stop his foes. But in te case of Venom he just knuckled under and let Venom kick his ass. It's disgusting. But I'm sure that Raimi, who doesn't like Venom to begin with, will have Spidey open a can a' whoop-ass on him.

In the cartoon movies he managed to beat him up..didnt he? infact can anyone remember how that film ended??! (the one where the symbiote comes from space and Brock gets it at the church ol)

Spidey has beat Venom 1v1 once and everytime hes appeared..not fair, not alone but all in all he is stopped. Spidey did fight back to Venom they had many brutal fights.

Yes he did...Spider-man and venom were fighting at a shuttle launch and the sound from the shuttle blasting off made the symbiote seperate from Eddie. Spiderman then webbed the sybiote to the ship then it shot into space.

All Spiderman needs to do to get rid of that pesky Venom is pour some Goo-gone on him.

He didn't fight back in ASM #317. He didn't fight back in 346-347- and he laid down like a little b*tch in ASM #375. He did nothing to stop the symbiote in Spectacular Spider-Man 1-5.

Ben Reilly is the only Spider to single-handedly defeat Venom.
That was one of his greatest moments.
Doing something that Peter didnt have the courage, strenght, or inginuity to do.

I think the main reason for that is that Venom can block Parker's spidey-sense, but not Reilly's.

I'd like to see that.

Off topic...

What should Venom use in the movie, Tentacles, webbing or a combination of the 2? He could tie Spidey up with the webbing & smack & beat hell out of him with the tentacles. Venom not having any webbing in the Ultimate Spider-Man game was one of the suckiest parts of the game because you wasn't able to swing around the city, but hopefully for the movie they will give him all 3, great leaping ability, webbing to swing around on & tentacles.

Webbing, fighting with legs, fists, and claws, trying to take bites, flips etc.

then he would be all lemony fresh

In the comics spidey has never defeated venom straight on,but he has managed to stop him using his intelect.I'm sure that raimi will have spidey defeat venom by using his head and outmatch him in other way that does not involve spidey beating the crap out of venom. But however Iam sure that raimi will have spidey punching and kicking venom hard a couple of times. This is a movie, and you have to have spidey giving it to the villain at least once, fans and even moreso regular moviegoers won't like it if spidey gets his ass kicked all the time and then he defeats venom by being smarter.Iam sure raimi will have spidey and venom locked in a brutal brawl.

I'm sorry, but Spider-Man will never be able to defeat Venom. Venom has Godmode on.

in the first saga with carnage Peter nailed both of the sybiotes with madision square gardans sound system. i have the orignal comic, pretty sweet.
