Superman Returns How do you compare the hype to other summer blockbusters?

The other day, I saw one of the trailers in a packed student lounge. Maybe 30 "civilians," ages 18-34. They remained quiet and focused on the trailer from beginning to end, and then they went crazy at the very end when the bullet bounced off of his eye.

I talked to Edward Douglas from Comingsoon´s weekend warrior, that tracks box office, I told him some people thought there wasn´t much interest, here´s what he says:

Hey, Alex! Totally disagree... I think there's a lot of hype on the film... it's been our #1 preview on CS for months as well as on the Yahoo buzz meter and I don't know a single person who doesn't want to see it. Should make $100 million in five days easy, probably more.

I agree. Very dead over here for a suppose to be summer blockbuster movie 9 days before opening. They had been going bonkers over in X-Men forums months before. Just not generating the fanatical hype you would expect.

Too true. For the fans Im sure everything is a buzz but for the general public, I asked around, especially my younger cousins and their friends and just a few younger people that I know(ages 16-18) and the response is very ho-hum. Maybe they will maybe they wont.
I have to admit it took me a while to come around, but as ive watched the previews and tv spots it looks like it will be good.

Remember,

www.bluetights.net is THE place SR fans visit mostly now......That's where a lot of the newbs, and old posters from here have gone. That place alone is easily just as busy as the SHH X-Men forum was before the debut.

I think the recent previews and spots are kicking up the hype. I saw people on the Internet saying reaction to the X3 trailers was "ho-hum" (aside from fans) and look how it opened.

Well, Superman is huge in my neck of the woods. Live down here in South Florida, and people are very ecstatic about the film.

But who cares about that. The movie has been made, it will more than likely be excellent, and we can all go see it if we want, and there is nothing that can stop that now, unless there is an apocolypse.
