How do you end the saga?

Agreed, if you want to tell other smaller stories with different characters, then that can easily be left for the spin-offs, the main Episodes should be connected and the major events.

With the destruction of whatever governs the Force.

I don't think there is something that governs the force, neither do i think there should. You could have certain deities that have mastered and worship the force, but i don't think it should have a source.

Yeah, but the Skywalker saga is the "episodes" is what I was getting at. The trilogy of trilogies is about Anakin, Luke and [insert] Skywalker bringing the galaxy near the brink of ruin and then healing it from the corruption of the Sith.

There's plenty more to tell other than that. But that's the main story.
You are going to have to let the "Skywalker" thing go I think. I would venture a guess that even this trilogy could focus on the Solo offspring. Disney is going to keep developing episodic entries. As you point out the Skywalker saga will end, but they will continue with the episodic entries after they move on in whatever direction they choose to go.

:wow:

-_- Solo offspring here being synonymous with Skywalker offspring. They're Leia's kids!

The force in the Star Wars Universe isn't a sentient being I don't think. It's more like some type of physical element, like gravity or water.

They ended it perfectly in Return of the Jedi (yes, I like the Ewok nub nub song, so sue me). Now, we are going to get endless sequels until they stop making money.

I have to agree, the original Trilogy never felt like the middle of the story, it was always a complete one, you had the rise of the hero, the conflict where his reality is turned upside down, and finaly the end of his journey.

i personally believe we will atleast get episodes 7-12

Dame. Though I always wondered what happened after.

I think the only way to have a complete saga is to throw out the EU completely and make it about Luke's son. That way the saga is about three generations of Skywalker and the Legacy of the Jedi. Anakin destroys it; Luke saves it; son of Luke rebirths it.

It's also the thing that is different about both Anakin and Luke in that both of them grew up without a father. Luke becomes determined that that is not going to happen, and SoL gets not just training and guidance, but also love and protection and thus becomes the greatest Jedi of the three.

Sounds great, but what is the counter balance to it?

I wonder if Episode IX will realy be the end for a good while. The original rumors spoke of a 12 part stor like the old 12 part film serials, and even then, Disney may not be done. I don't think there will ever be a hiatus like the one there was between Episode VI and I, which was some 16 years, i'm not even sure we'll have to wait 10 years between trilogies like the hiatus between Episode III and VII. So the question is, will Disney allow for an end to the saga? And if so, when will it be?

The end of the saga will be when Rey defeats Kylo Ren and his master Snokes by herself. She will be the grand master Jedi and start the New Jedi Order. And yes, Rey will have a cybernetic arm just like Luke and Anakin.

It should be DAUGHTER of Luke! Rey could very well be the daughter of Luke. She will be the greatest Jedi of all times. Greater than both Anakin and Luke.

Luke Skywalker staring out into the twin suns of Tatooine and dissappearing into the force. With something beautiful composed by John Williams playing.

Or: The First Order, along with Kylo are gone and they attend a space opera. On their way out, someone tries to shoot Luke and Rey gets it instead. Flashforward 30 years later, where a much older, blind Luke is sitting on a chair outside his uncle's old place in Tatooine. He dies and falls off the chair.

^ I get the feeling that a series-ending movie that featured that ending would undoubtedly be the most respected installment of said series. :o

You are a traitor of Zoetrope and a fiend. TAKE HIM AWAY.
