Just like the title says. Sure, a lot of us sound articulate when we're typing on a keyboard, but it's an entirely different matter when the words are comin' out your mouth.

Myself, being from the ghetto, I switch from sounding very much like I do on here, to speaking in ebonics, though not on a large level.

Example:

Online: " I don't have any of that."

IRL: " I ain't got none'a that, foo.' "

What about youse?

Everything about that post and this thread...

I type exactly how I speak... emoticons included.

:ninja: is always a fun one. :p

Why would you do that?

That depends. I swear a bit more IRL, and while I don't always speak like I type, I do on occasion. I've gotten into several real-life debates, and it's second nature for me to (on those occasions) up the ante a bit by expanding my vocabulary. :cwink: In those situations I'm just a bit more deliberate with my speech.

Other times, it's casual. I'll still use a lot of scientific vocabulary, as I'm lucky enough to be around people who (for the most part) don't need me to dumb things down for them. My ex-girlfriend/roommate gets it when I use those words. I like discussing scientific concepts (so I get to use phrases like, "parallel adaptive radiation."). :yay:

Bring back the Global Warming thread!

It amazes me how double negatives have become the standard when speaking. How hard is it really to say, "I don't know anything" rather than "I don't know nothing"?

I forgot his name, but the last guy I talked to there was cool. We didn't really agree, but he seemed like he had some sort of scientific background...unlike certain others. :cwink:

The word, "ain't," irks me. The thing is, it actually used to be a grammatically correct word. The way people couple it with double-negatives makes it REALLY annoying, though.

I don't need no nobody or nothin' cuz I can't get no nothin' from nobody.

Why? Anyway, I speak the way I type.

I tend to speak with a Transylvanian accent.

:lmao:

I tend to stutter. It's difficult for me to get a sentence out of my mouth without messing it up somehow.

I'm the same on line as I am IRL.
I don't front. :p

I speak the same way. Except more cussing.

That's terrible conformity that you think to fit in you need to talk "ghetto"
