I see your point after reading all that you put down.
Just remember that the Professor didn't die. (transfered his mind and blah blah blah) but they will most likely bring Cyke back. I don't know about Jean, but maybe. With Sinister he could figure out someone to revive Cyke and Jean.

Also, with Sentinels you have the government and the normal humans behind them. So, you WILL have villians with character, except the Sentinels are just doing their dirty work.

All these revive Jean and Scott ideas work fine for a comic book, but in a movie based in reality, the audience will be rolling their eyes in disbelief.

Just let the franchise die already. Better than having a abortion adaptation.
