How I Met Your Mother

Alright, I have watched the beginning and end a couple of times now and have a pretty crazy theory. The way it was written led us to believe that Ted was the Best Man in the wedding, but it never directly says he is. Maybe the wedding is actually for Ted (maybe to Jennifer Morrison?). When Lily says the best man is being summoned, maybe that is actually Marshall. They even teased it by Ted saying Marshall would be his best man when he was talking to Barney in the bar. Also, Ted remarked "geez what now", which could mean that some bad things have happened previously, maybe leading up to the big day and it gives him some doubt. Not to mention that the first wedding toast is usually done by the Father of the Bride. Perhaps there are issues between he and Ted as well and Ted is concerned about what he says. Just thinking a bit outside the box. The writers have been pretty sneaky in the past. You never know.

Hmm, solid theory, but didn't narrator Ted say he met the mother at the wedding?

Right. He gets married and also meets the Mother there. The person he marries at the wedding doesn't necessarily have to be the Mother. They could have him meet her at the wedding (maybe she is part of the band at the reception as someone else suggested) and someone hands him the yellow umbrella when he and his bride leaves the reception. It gives him an OMG moment. I could see it all go down in the season finale.

I don't like that he marries someone who ends up not being the pivotal Mother. Seems like they would do that just to stretch out the series.

Well if they are in fact going all the way to 8 seasons, they will have to stretch it out some how.

Ah, I see. Still, Ted getting married and it not working out seems a bit....cruel to Ted and heavy for a lighter show like this.

I think that's a bit too similar to him being left at the altar.

REally good episode last night.
I laughed alot at Barney's story and Ted's story was good too. I just hope they limit the filler episodes this season

Woah this weeks episode was great. I have to admit I teared up during the flashbacks at the end. I hope we eventually do get to meet Barney's dad though. I'd be interested to see what kind of man could spawn that.

Loved last night's episode. I always like it when they delve in Barney's past and family. Glad to see Wayne Brady back. Oh and I loved Ted's recap of the ending to The Karate Kid.

We definitely need to meet Barney's father at some point. Bill Shatner would be great, but I doubt he'll do it since he's a regular on **** My Dad Says. Maybe Adam West or David Hasslehoff?

It's not Bob Barker besides Bob Barker was already on in Season 2.

I want Barney's father to be nothing like Barney. Just some regular normal guy. Maybe someone who's not great with the ladies. That would be funny to see Barney's reaction to that.

I like it. Dennis Franz for Barney's sweatpants wearing father. :woot:

lets not forget how Barney looked when he was young

That was a really good episode. I like them when they are personal stories like this.

I loved it.That final moment when he realizes how good his mom has been to him was very touching. Also the autotune was hilarious.

Being a child of a single mother that last moment almost made me call my mom.:csad:

Good scene.

I guess i'm the only one who didn't like it. The story was good but it just wasn't funny. The white guy who thinks he's black because he thinks his dad is black, has been done (Southpark --> Cartman). Although i was nice to get some info on Barney's past.

Why does everyone think Ted gets married again, but not to the wife? All it says is he meets his children's mother at a wedding. He's dressed up and nervous, but it doesn't mean he's getting married. Perhaps he's best man at a wedding and doing a speech?

I thaught the same thing. I understand it that he was the bestman at that wedding?

I am just going to throw this theory I have had for a while. Just in case I am right. I am almost 100% sure I am wrong. It is just a gut feeling I have.

I think Ted will turn out to be Gay, & the "mother" is a dude. Just throwing that out there.

Yeah. That's likely. :oldrazz:
