Jesus Christ guys. ****ing $18 bucks?

Yeah... our nation simply isn't carrying the weight of box-office draw like America, or even Australia. It's interesting because from what Ive seen, American cinemas charge more for food/drinks at the concession stands than they do the movie tix. I can pay $18 for a movie ticket but a large popcorn and soda is $7.

Buying food at the theatre is a fool's errand. Sneak that **** in.

haha well you can't sneak popcorn in really... and it's all I ever want to munch on in the theatre for some reason :cwink:

There's one place around here that doesn't give a rats ass, but that's because there's tons of restaurants right next to it so it would be a bad move to say no.

Otherwise everywhere else you had to sneak it in.

9,90 € here ( 14,50 USD ) full price but the theaters usually offer deals ( "fidelity" card, monthly sub etc ).

Wow I'm surprised by how many $13 + tickets there are. I thought $11.50 was bad. Hell I remember when it was $4.50 for full price. :(

I remember when it cost me 2.50 :csad:

I remember movies from that time, but I only remember going, not really paying or anything.

We used to have a 3.00 theatre at the mall that played movies after they had been in the theatre for about a month, but AMC bought them out.

Wow....yeah there are a couple still around here maybe one that is like $4 or $6 a ticket, but i's for movies that have been out for a month plus.

$9-10 Canadian (add about a quarter for US Dollars) for General Audience for an evening show. It varies depending on the theatre, but they pretty much all fall within that range. That would be for 2D. 3D is $12-13.

$6.50 for an afternoon show, $8 after 5pm.

When I started going to movies without parents in the late 90's, evening shows were $4.50 :csad:

You need to go to the independent owned theatres to get better prices. Anything under the AMC, Cinemark, and so forth umbrellas will price gouge the hell out of you.

Actually the theater prices I listed ($8 matinee, $10 after 5 every day) is AMC.

In separate News I can't wait until they build an Alamo Drafthouse theater in NYC. :woot:

Oh of course, but even some of the smaller places are $9 at the cheapest.

To be honest, I have no problems with paying $10 for a movie. I never paid to go see a movie where it was any less than $8 (I didn't go to the theaters a lot when I was younger because of medical reasons).

An image of someone trying to sneak in Orville Reddenbacher's into the theater just popped in my head. :funny:

You guys still have to sneak food in? By law cinemas aren't allowed to prevent you from bringing your own food down here.

At my theater near my home:

AM Showing - $5
Afternoon Matinee - $8
Regular Tickets - $10

They don't show movies in 3D here.

Well that makes sense, but it seems like all of a sudden within five years or less movies went from about $4-$5 per ticket to $9-$10 a ticket. Where they had been slowly increasing in the years leading up to that price range for $4-$5 each.

Now it often makes me movie hope. $22 just to see a movie for me an my girlfriend, thanks *****.

I buy some Taco Bell and just sneak it in. CARGO SHORTS FTW!!!
