I was 16, and I got a job as Saturday girl in the Early Learning Centre. I got fired after a couple of months because I refused to go up to Customers who were looking around and ask if I could help them. It really bugged me when shop assistants did that to me, so why would I do it to someone else?

i agree.
there is nothing more annoying than being bothered by customer rep people.
here where i work, they have the 10 ft. greet rule.
if someone is within a 10 ft. radius of the front desk we HAVE to say "good morning" or "good evening" to them, even if they walk by us like 20 times during our shift.
it's ridiculous and it makes the customers uncomfotable because they either feel obligated to say it back to you, or they feel like they have to ignore you.

What if I came in and stood 11 feet away, shouting "Excuse me!". Would you respond?

man, I hope Dracula has a 10 ft. rule :csad:
but life is soooo unfair, I'm betting he doesn't.

The day after my 16th birthday, my parents kicked me out of the house and said don't come back until I have a job. Been working ever since.

I did helper's work and BS stuff since I was 11, but 16 was my first "real" job.

Can't wait to do the same to my own kids. Damn if they ever get anything without working for it.

I was almost 13 when I started doing computer work for a stationary company, invoices and database stuff. Just been fired from there after 3 years and now looking for another job.

Well, you won't find it here...:o

I focused on my studies at high school which I regret I only had a few babysitting gigs. I started to work full time when I was 21, some bakery coffe shop. Then at a call centre and recently at a kitchen supply store for seasonal. I would recomend getting work during school even if it's once a week, it realy help get over your nerves and your less naive.

Because the pathetic ammount you get paid doesn't cover anything unless someone else pays the important stuff. I've had weeks where the mice I'm killing off are looking better fed than me.

12 if we are talking childhood jobs and 26 if we are talking adult jobs (became a M&A investment banker).

Not including babysitting. My first job I was 15/16 and did some housecleaning on the weekend for an old guy in his 70's.
