Days of Future Past is one of the most mimicked and iconic cover images in this media and we have been showered with okay, not great, a couple awful posters for this movie, none of which though use the imagery of which it is based? Is there a fan image out there?

I would love for you to show me the numerous examples of people copying the DoFP comic cover.

there is many fan versions, but its probably reasons of not wanting to confuse the audience because of how it differs from the source material which maybe why they haven't released an iconic replica of one

He said in the media. That usually would mean other poster's for other films copying it's style. Or even other comic covers taking it as well. If he just meant fan created posters, I've still only seen one, that was pretty good to be honest.

Because maybe someone thought a giant Wanted poster in the technologically advanced future made no sense?

Well that scene didn't actually happen in the book, it's just a great cover. It would work for this, plus Hugh Jackman. They force his name onto other people's posters, why not do the original poster with their poster boy?? Plus Ellen Page.

Well you obviously do just a little considering you took the time to post in this thread. :cwink:

That's because I enjoy seeing people complaining about something that nobody ever said it will happen.

Is there a rule somewhere that says posters have to match comic covers?

Sure it's nice to see but hardly an issue if they don't

Well, for a start, it would give away the status and fates of the characters in the movie. That might be a big reason.

It's an iconic comic book cover but they must have had their reasons.

They could have done a variation on it. Logan and Kitty with a spotlight is enough. Maybe there'll be a scene like that in the movie, who knows.

Ia, people who don't know a thing about dofp will have it spoiled.

i don't think we will see the wolverine death from the comic in this movie, missed opportunity but i don't think we will

Other comic book covers do mimic it. I would like to see a nod to the cover somewhere, either in a piece of promotional material or within the movie itself. Though, I don't know why we needed a new thread for this.

Still plenty of time left for them to do it. If the movie is released without the iconic image, then I will be upset. But with almost 2 months to go, I think this thread is jumping the gun a bit.

Not saying it means anything but one of the writers for dofp did tweet that image.

We have heard every bit of info about the pre title sequence right? No missed details?

a lot of the characters get killed off at the start of film by sentinels before kitty reverses it, so I imagine that would be taking its place, I can't see me doing it a second time

Wait, wuh

You not read about that scene?

The shock value of that scene is probably taking the place of the shock value of killing wolverine in the comic, unless there was some information missed :/

I agree, plenty of time yet. I'd be surprised if they didn't do some version of it.

It's one of the most highly copied comic book covers and would have made for a terrific poster.http://www.comicvine.com/homage-covers/4015-43734/images/?tag=Uncanny+X-Men+141

HA! He got you there... :oldrazz:

For me I think they were struggling to come up with good concepts for their posters (let's not even talk about the execution). I think it'd be nice to know they tried to mimic the poster, but maybe it didn't turn out too great.

Kind of. I was also talking about movie posters. He had said media so I thought he meant more than just comics, but yes, he owned me on the comic front. :woot:

I actually just remember a couple of homage covers for Uncanny 141, the most recent one being one for Wolverine and the X-men cover. I didn't know there were a lot of copycats (and DC ones no less! LOL)
