Ok folks, this has been driving me nuts.

When you are creating a poll and you can't think of all the possibilities or the number of possibilities exceed the limits of the poll you have 2 choices.

1. Create a nominating thread

or

2. Include an "OTHER" option as the final option

This way, you've got your bases covered. With option 1 you can say there were not enough nominations for a specific item to be included. With option 2 be prepared to have "other" get the most votes.

If you want to get really particular you can also have "none of the above", "no opinion", "can't decide" options

Also don't include options that you don't want winning your poll. Try any method to bias the result in favour of your personal choice.

and don't make a "multiple answers" thread and forget to set the "multiple answers" option

stroke it softly :0

Did I do something wrong? It's my first poll and wasn't sure about it all

Not unless you're BT18. The one driving me up the wall is the "Greatest Lead Singer / Frontman poll"

Honestly, half the folks listed in it don't deserve it and will never get a vote while a heck of a lot of more deserving folk are not included. An "other" option might have blown away Freddy Mercury (or maybe not because he is a fantastic Lead Singer / Frontman). Just 15 minutes of searching on the net would have gotten BT18 the same list that I found using Google and then he could have created a more comprehensive list of possibilities.

Make it f'ing public!!!!

:o I rarely make polls public because I don't want to force people to share their real opinions and get them flamed. If they want to share their opinion they can put it in a post but anonymous voting is usually more honest.

I won't come down on your ass for saying McDonalds is better than Wendys. :o

*lol* WOULD NEVER HAPPEN... I hate McDumDum's, I think I'ld pick Harvey's or Lick's if I were going to a burger joint.

Well that's an example, your favorite fast food place, what's the big deal if it's public. Number of hookers you've killed, yeah that might be better kept private.

Polls about Politics / Religion / Sexual Preferences / Age / Location / Law breaking / Cleanliness (how often do you wash your hands) should all be anonymous, if you want honest answers

It's the internet and anonymity. Having a bunch of strangers know I'm more conservative, got busy in college and such doesn't bother me. But hey to each it's own.

The one thing I do have about private threads is multiple voting.

Just chill in the woods till you see a straight-ass limb and then shave it down all smooth-like.

This thread needs a poll. And there is no way in living hell I would ever eat at a restaurant called "Licks", because I would always be suspicious of what the chef was doing to my food before it was brought to my table. :down

Oh, ok. For a second when I saw this after I made that poll I thought it was something I did wrong.
