How to Train Your Dragon - Spring 2010

I'm surprised that this thread is only 2 pages long.

The movie was amazing! I even liked it more than Toy Story 3

Tootless was the cutest thing!

Didnt like it more than TS3

But this was an excellent surprised I loved it

what happened in the last 5 minute owned everything pixar did in the last 5 years.

Pixar still makes better movies. but what Dreamworks did was something that hollywood should do more.

if this movie were made by pixar it would get more press. guranteed.
brilliant movie. I think this movie is better than the majority of movies made by pixar.

put it this way I enjoyed it more than;
bug's life
finding nemo
wall-e
monsters inc
up - (to be fair the montage was amazing)
cars

Saw this movie over the weekend, it was really good except for the horrendous voice acting by whoever did Hiccup. First, Dreamworks should've found another voice actor for Hiccup because that guy's voice annoyed me instantly and throughout the whole movie. It just had a quality that got on my nerves and sounded like a guy I wanted to beat up. Second, the guy always sounded dead and flat. And I mean like compared to the guy who played 17-year-old Andy in Toy Story 3. The Andy voice actor definitely has it all over the Hiccup voice actor in terms of vocal emoting. Third, the reading of a lot of the dialog lines by Hiccup was just so....lame, and it made the Hiccup character so off-putting at first, when he was complaining about not being able to kill dragons, his conflict with his dad, etc. In fact I was kinda hoping "Toothless" would kill him when they first met. It would've ended my misery sooner.

The Hiccup character could've been done a whole lot better IMO.

Everything else about the movie was done really well though. Toothless was a kick-ass dragon. And the cat-like cues in its design made it cute too (eyes, ears, etc). :)

Awesome. I thought the first one was better.than just about every Pixar movie except for Toy Story 1, The Incredibles and Wall E

Hm, wonder if that'll carry over to the TV show my kids like. I thought the movie was pretty good, the show is alright, good to see they're going to be expanding so much for the sequel.

Yikes, Hiccup looks exactly like King Goffrey from Game of Thrones. Scary.

I worship HTTYD, very excited for this.

how to train your dragon again owns all modern superman movies with the flying scene.

It really does capture the pure joy of flying better than the supermovies.

Soundtrack was especially good, especially "First Flight"

Here it is on YouTube...

Finally! I've been waiting for this for three years now (four by next year)! I like the fact that time has passed and the younger characters look olderr now. Can't wait!

Surprised and disappointed this thread is so short. :/

Anyway, the first movie was as good as anything Pixar has ever done, and much better than a lot of their (as well as Disney's) recent efforts. I'm really looking forward to How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Can't wait for this! I thought the first one was truly the best animated film of 2010 and it should have won the Oscar and I expect this sequel to have the same high quality.

Yes it deserved the Oscar big time but of course it didn't win because it wasn't made by a studio named Pixar. The scene where he is trying to win over Toothless by bringing fish, drawing pictures, making the tail. That whole segment. Greatest of any cg movie ever

That is amazing

Well it was up against Toy Story 3. I honestly think if it was against Cars 2 or Brave it would have won.
