Hugh Jackman ... One Night Only To Debut At The Dolby Theatre On October 12 To Benefit MPTF

Jackman Brings His One-Man Show to the Los Angeles Stage for the First Time

American Express Pre-Sale Begins on July 26

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., July 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Academy Award nominee and Tony and Golden Globe Award winner Hugh Jackman will bring his critically acclaimed one-man show from Broadway to Los Angeles for a one night only performance benefitting MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund). Hugh Jackman…One Night Only will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at The Dolby Theatre, marking his first time performing in Southern California. The One Night Only event is co-chaired by Jim Gianopulos, Chairman and CEO, 20th Century Fox, and his wife Ann, longtime supporters of MPTF.

Hugh Jackman's involvement with MPTF, a 92-year-old charity that provides essential health care, wellness, social services, child care and retirement services to the entertainment community, began in 2007 when he first performed and co-hosted the organization's "A Fine Romance" – an event celebrating the love affair between Broadway and Hollywood.

"Through Jim Gianopulos I became aware of MPTF's deep roots in Hollywood and their amazing work helping entertainment industry colleagues in need and the simple concept of taking care of our own," said Hugh Jackman. "Films, television and theatre have brought me great success throughout my career and it is one of my greatest pleasures to give back by putting on a show as a benefit to support MPTF."

"This event marks two distinct but equally special occasions: First, we have the honor of bringing Hugh Jackman's spectacular one-man show to Los Angeles as a fundraiser for MPTF; and secondly, we get to celebrate Hugh -- one of our industry's brightest talents -- on his birthday that same night," said Jim Gianopulos, Chairman and CEO, 20th Century Fox. "We are thrilled to provide Los Angeles with an opportunity to experience Hugh's boundless talent and generosity."

"It is such an extraordinary fundraising opportunity that Hugh Jackman has made possible for MPTF – in addition to the concert we are planning a major live and online auction and special opportunities for the entertainment community at all levels to come together to celebrate his spirit of generosity and caring," added Ken Scherer, CEO, MPTF Foundation.

MPTF is presenting Hugh Jackman…One Night Only at The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles alongside presenting sponsors American Express, Dolby, Delta, Fiat and 20th Century Fox. American Express will offer Cardmembers the chance to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public. The American Express pre-sale begins on Friday, July 26 at 10 AM PST. Tickets will be made available to the general public via Ticketmaster on Friday, August 9. Additional sponsors for the event include Dial Global and City National Bank.

"Most people know the Dolby Theatre as the home of Hollywood's biggest night, the Oscars," said Doug Darrow, Senior Vice President of Cinema at Dolby Laboratories. "What audiences will discover when they come support the MPTF and enjoy Hugh Jackman...One Night Only is that the Dolby Theatre is also a showcase for the very best in entertainment technologies. We've done everything we can to enhance the experience, starting with the very best in sound. It is our way of supporting an organization that has done so much for the entertainment community."

Delta is one of the largest operators in California, with its major gateway at Los Angeles International, where it offers 113 peak-day departures and nonstop service to seven international destinations and 32 domestic destinations. We complement our travel service to the residents and visitors of Los Angeles by aligning with local causes, charities and organizations that make a difference in this community. Delta is proud to support Hugh Jackman…One Night Only, benefitting MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund), which provides vital sources to the entertainment community.

Where's the event at today?

Hm, is it a first come first serve event? Because I may just pop by in about an hour if that's the case.

I know main auditorium is sold out, but they're playing it in a second theater now too, so there might be tickets left? Check on Fandango!

I love this:

Hilarious scene! Every time Famke does an interview and mentions how it also caters to the female audience, now I see how, haha.

Definitely! I have friends who loved Origins just for that naked run he does...

You got to go up on stage with Hugh? :wow: Why? HOW?

The screening tonight was a fan event screening in NYC that included an appearance by Hugh. It was really cool - we got t-shirts, foam hands with claws, and lanyards (The Wolverine poster in front, "I saw it first, bub" on the back) when we went in.

We were in the front of one of the sections close to the stage, and one of the Fox people walked up and asked me if I wanted to ask Hugh a question. I said yes (of course!) and I got to go right up to the stage with two other guys who were also picked to ask questions.

So Hugh gets there and he's signing autographs and stuff in the crowd. The two guys with me got him to sign their shirts. I already have his autograph, so I just said hi. He put his hand on my shoulder and said hi back and asked us if we were ready.

This is how close I was to the stage:

I got to go up first (they're all going, "Don't be shy, get up on the stage!"), so I did...

...Hugh asked me my name, and I asked my question. Of course the mike didn't pick it up, so I had to do it again.

This is Hugh answering my question, and me trying not to have a heart attack:

The question, btw, was "How is Logan different in this film compared to the previous X-Men movies?"

(and yes, they gave us the questions beforehand - and thank god, I would have still be up there trying to stammer something out)

So he's answering to the audience, and to me as well...and then he thanked me (using my name!), everyone applauds, and they move on to the next guy.

When I was coming down the stairs, the publicity people were all saying "Yay! You did great!"

I almost forgot I was seeing the movie after that. :oldrazz:

Wow, man, that sounds amazing! Glad you had fun, Hugh seems like such a nice guy.

Can't wait to see the movie! :D

He was super nice. He signed a ton of autographs, and posed for pictures with people. He looked like he was having as much fun as everybody else.

The movie was great, too. Seeing it again on Thursday night.

So glad for you, danoyse!

I'm seeing it tomorrow, can't wait!

Also, half of Logan's suits suck.

I'm so thrilled for you!

And incredibly, incredibly, incredibly jealous! :p

Was it awesome?

As good as the reviews suggest?

Was there dat ass?

There's something really refreshing about seeing women saying "dat ass" and stuff like that. Thank you, ladies.
