According to reports, Marvel Entertainment's Hulk 2 aka The Incredible Hulk has been scouting studio locations to set up shop in either Toronto or Vancouver.

Budget is said to be in the $125 million range.

The comic book-to-film has been scheduled for a June 13, 2008 release.

French director Louis "Transporter" Letterier will direct the film, with producer Avi Arad confirming 'The Abomination' as the main villain. Screenplay is by Zak "X-Men: The Last Stand" Penn who has drafted a more 'primal' origin story than the first Hulk movie.

Debuting in Marvel Comics' "Tales to Astonish #90 (1967), the Abomination was former Yugoslavian spy 'Emil Blonsky', aka 'Agent R-7', who became a 6' 8", 980-pound monster.

As originally written by Hulk creator Stan Lee, Blonsky infiltrated the New Mexico Air Force base commanded by 'General "Thunderbolt" Ross', where nuclear physicist 'Dr. Robert Bruce Banner' conducted gamma ray experiments.

After accidentally becoming the Hulk from the gamma fallout of a nuclear explosion, Banner planned to overdose himself with a gamma machine. But Blonsky, hiding in Banner's lab, secretly activated the machine instead, bombarding himself with a potentially lethal dose. An immediate 'mutagenic' effect turned Blonsky into the 'Abomination', with two toes on each foot, webbed ears, a ridged brow and super-human strength more powerful than the Hulk's.

Throughout many Hulk comic book appearances, the Abomination goes through various mind-altering transitions, before killing Banner's girlfriend 'Betty Ross'.

great, if they go outside the US, they could save some money. THanks AD

Not as much as a few years ago ... Vancouver will probably get it. The film industry in Toronto is struggling with the way the current governments are not working with it.

We could have had the largest studio in the world but it got botched at all the levels of politics ...

:(

that sucks, Vancouver it is then

Vancouver has really embraced the industry. Toronto has foolishly moved away. The other issue is the exchange and travel.

It is real easy to get to Vancouver.

The exchange rate is lower so Canadian productions are not as appealing as they once were.

With higher prices for some things in Toronto ... Vancouver becomes a real easy choice.

So Vancouver has become the new Hollywood North to some extent.

Oh well. Maybe for Hulk 2?

^ Why Donez if Banner is on the run would he stay anywhere's near SanFran knowing he's being hunted and he's a potential danger to people. ;)

Plus the Hulk has had loads of adventures in Canada in the comics. He met/fought Wolverine there, fought Sasquatch and Wendigo there, etc.

I've never been to Vancouver.
Is it more city than country?

If it films there it doesn't mean it takes place there. See FF2, Ghost Rider, etc... :)

Yes but they could utilize the scenery.
So if it's more country,I guess they film the landscape and incorporate it to fit their needs.

^ Exactly the could do that...and the studio space of course. Maybe it'll fit into the story.

I assume that means Abomination's origin...?

I guess we'll find out eventually.

This makes me smile. Someone is doing their homework. For them to mention TTA #90 means, to me anyways, that they are, indeed, STAYING CLOSER TO THE COMIC. Also, a 6' 8" 980 pound monster. I know I'm reading to much into this but this makes me think that we are goiing to see the Hulk represented the way The Hulk should be. 7' , 1,000 pounds of unfettered fury :woot:

but that wont make Abomination any better than Hulk, isnt Abomi normally bigger than Hulk

YEAH, I was about to say that... HULK is about 200lbs. and a few inches bigger. They got carried away with his size on the video game, it was like HULK in the movie. They should look pretty close to equal i would think... HULK will be stockier and Abomination should look more sinister, almost a reptilian look to him.

I'd be happy with Abomination looking like that. He looks a lot stronger and bigger than HULK. I am sure that the main battle in the movie will be HULK vs Abomination vs the Military.

Since they're filming in Vancouver, does that mean that we're not getting any desert scenes?
