Screw the 2008 retirement stipulation and book Punk vs. Flair at Wrestlemania. Look how over that segment was Monday. Wrestling retirements aren't taken seriously anyway and it's not like Flair would appear at every WWE event from TV to house shows. You can still spin it as he retired from a fulltime schedule in 2008. Anyway, it's the perfect feud. Flair always said to be the man you gotta beat the man and that weaves in with Punk's desire for respect. Punk is straight edge and Flair is basic hedonist. The two men have never faced off and I am high on having new matches at Wrestlemania. We are getting Rock/Cena and Triple H/Lesnar again, so Punk/Flair could complement that. Plus, Punk still needs a clean win over a legit opponent. Flair is old, but he is still Flair. I doubt Flair would have a problem putting over Punk clean. This would take Punk to another level. Besides, I always thought Flair should have made someone in his last match. HBK obviously didn't need made. Go Punk/Flair.

Agreed!

I'm sure he wanted to go out at the time, but once he got divorced again, he had no choice, but to go to TNA.

FFS, he's 63 years old! Let it go.

-He has said that he didn't want to fully retire But was pretty much forced to by Vince

-Why does age have to matter for everything including pro wrestling?,He can still go

I really don't want to see Ric Flair in a WWE ring again. Because I'm afraid he'll get back body dropped one too many times, and explode into a cloud of dust on impact.

I know that's just a lame attempt at a stupid"old age"joke But he's 65..Not over 100,Flair can still sell better than most of the current roster/is still entertaining in the ring and is at least willing to put over all young&new guys,Plus he still means something and beating him does something for a wrestler&their character

No, it wasn't a lame old age joke. I really don't want to see him compete anymore. Put aside all this "willing to put over young guys" and "ability to sell" stuff, and realize that a 65 year old man shouldn't be taking these kind of bumps. His mind may be willing, but flesh is oh so weak. I don't see the need to knock off any more years of his life expectancy just to put over Punk. So unnecessary.

Edit to add - Because I'm sorry, do you think pro wrestlers are superheroes or something? 65 isn't too old to you? They're human beings like the rest of us, who have accumulated many lifetime's worth of physical abuse for our entertainment. And Flair has that x100. He doesn't have anything left to prove, and he's accomplished everything he can. He can't retire because of his financial situation, fine. But he doesn't need to be in the ring anymore to get a paycheque. It would be practically criminal to support him getting back in the ring.

If Flair isn't medically fit to wrestle especially full matches then he shouldn't wrestle. No one wants to see Flair have a heart attack, be crippled or die in the ring.

Sometimes its about knowing when to quit while your ahead. Flair might have one more match in him but I don't think he could do a regular or semi-regular WWE schedule.

Flair would like that.

I agree, especially after what happened to Lawler earlier this year. I have no interest in seeing him turn completely into Randy the Ram. If he has to get involved in the ring, let him manage someone who faces Punk.

And while I love Punk, Flair/HBK was the best match Flair could go out on in WWE. Better to leave that alone than risk tarnishing that memory.

At this point, the only reason why Flair seems to wrestle (outside of the WWE) nowadays is because the guy can't manage his finances and always blows it on bad investments, whether it be businesses or ex-wives.

The guy lost my respect as a wrestler and as a person awhile back imho.

Like most professional athletes, this is all they know how to do. This is their life a lot of their self worth is tied into being cheered for and being the man. It's hard for them to just walk away from the competition, because they can't fill that void with other things. He may be broke and that's why he does some of the things he does, but I believe a lot of it is the competitive nature that he grew up in.

I compare it to like a Michael Jordan coming back to play for the Wizards, he knew, we all knew he wasn't the same guy, but his will to be the man was still there.

I'm of the opinion that I don't think he should wrestle again, but I'm in no position to say that he can't, or shouldn't.

hey guys, does anyone know which WWE game last had JBL's Clothesline from Hell ( as a ground grapple finisher )?

I know it wasn't in WWE 12, but was it in 2011? or was it last in 2010?

Yeah it's been just a running finisher for a while

and why they took it out as a ground grapple finisher..............makes no sense. would have been a perfect move for Ryback.

and, I checked Youtube. and it looks like 2010 still had the ground grapple version.

Maybe it was in 2010 and I just can't remember,Not just did they remove it as a ground finisher But they keep making it one of the weakest clothlines,They add awesome new ones including a perfect one for Orton But somehow make the Clothline from Hell..Best clothline into one of the weakest

and before, it was an auto-pin running finisher, if I remember correctly. and back then, you couldn't control the auto-pin.

hopefully, with Ryback part of the roster for WWE 14, they will give him some kind of newly animated Meathook clothesline.

but.....knowing Yukes, they will probably give him some generic, weak clothesline........

Just for argument’s sake, suppose Flair and CM Punk did wrestle each other in a match, at Wrestlemania. The only praise that Punk would get would be the fact that he had to literally carry Flair over throughout the entire match and make Flair look like he could still give a good fight in the ring. And just on a purely superficial note, someone like Flair at his age should not be allowed to wear wrestling shorts again. I’ve seen some of the photos from his latest wrestling matches over at TNA and the dude’s body doesn’t even look healthy at all; it just looks like molds of skin that have been slapped onto a human body. Plus, I would think that if a guy had any respect for the legacy that he created in the business that he’d like to be best remembered by all for how great he was in the ring back in his prime and not for the old raggedy shell of a man that he once was in the ring. Even with all of the suspension of disbelief that the WWE tries to stretch within their matches; it’d be next to impossible for me at least to buy the fact that CM Punk could realistically find a threat in Flair at his current age. Flair has been for awhile now more of a liability than a asset in the manner that he’s been approaching the business.

Flair vs. Punk really does nothing for punk.Flair isn't who he once was and unlike Taker, no longer has that main event mystique anymore.Honestly, and I know this won't happen because WWE has no sense, the booking for WM29 should be used to put Rock,Punk and Cena on equal footing. This is how I would book it.

RR-Rock beats Punk/Cena wins Royal Rumble
Elimination Chamber-Punk last eliminates Rock to win back the title.
WM29-Punk vs. Cena vs. Rock triple threat

This scenario takes care of a few things
1.Cena and Rock can wrestle again while still preserving the once in a lifetime tag from last year.
2.Adding Punk adds to the quality of the match as Rock/Cena was nothing to write home about.
3.The Rock gets his title run
4. Punk Headlines Mania as he should for being the company workhorse for a while.
5.Cena can get his win back at mania, but Punk will also have a pinfall over Rock as well.

I honestly think this is the only option WWE has as far as the main event. But I fear they'll just go with Cena/Rock II and call it a day.
