Hype TV Club does Game of Thrones in February!

Lol, sounds like fun for all!

I mean, the fact that [blackout]he was played by Sean Bean should have given you a clue.[/blackout] :oldrazz:

But yeah, as you said, not that kind of show. That moment might as well be the mission statement for what kind of show it is, lol.
lol, I've seen things [BLACKOUT]where he lives! xD[/BLACKOUT]

Just finished ep 9. You know ****ing WHAT?

:cmad:

It's okay. I look at it as a win-win. If I don't like season 2 I'm going to whup Kane's ass. If I do like season 2 I'm going to whup Kane's ass. Either way it goes somebody gon' get their ass kicked. Somebody gon' get their wig split.

^ lol

fwiw, i do like the orchestral theme song
the opening credits are ok too i guess lol

ok i just watched episode 3, which is my favorite of them all so far. i feel like a lot got accomplished.

the sword teacher seems like he's going to be fun. following the trail of the dagger seems interesting
i'm still trying to learn this "winter is coming" thing. i'm assuming this means they're seasons aren't like ours, where we get 4 a year. their seasons last indefinitely until they switch, am i understanding that more or less?

Yea, the seasons last years and years. You guys are making me wanna watch it all through again, damn it.

join us! most of us in here are seeing it for the first time, and some are watching it again. i'm currently on episode 4.

edit: just finished episode 4 and i enjoyed these two episodes far more than the first two. Lady Stark is a pretty awesome. i pretty much like all the Stark's, but i feel like I don't know Robb too well, and Sansa is kinda screwed so i don't hate her, don't particularly like her lol. Despite having a bastard son, Ned seems like he's pretty much the only decent guy in King's Landing lol.
i still hate Jamie, definitely hate Quiksilver (lol JP!), but i'm glad his sister is growing some stones and standing up for herself. I don't know what her age is supposed to be, but i'm guessing mid to late teens like Snow? and her brother is probably a few years older at the most?

but that jousting tournament. Bah Gawd! [/jimross]

I'm rewatching The Shield at the moment but I am breezing through it like usual, it's just too good. After that though I may go through GoT again. I usually watch all the episodes before the new season starts anyway but I was thinking about not doing it this year because there's so much stuff coming on that month. This may give me a little incentive lol

Yeah Dany Is suppose to be around 16 or 17, I believe.

I'll probably start S2 today. :o

I like that episode.

Yeah the Winter hasn't come for years (Arya hasn't seen one I believe) and the next one is expected to last a very long time.

I love the theme and the opening credits are great. Plus they change significantly as the locations of the episodes change. Lot of work went into them if you ever see the making of documentaries on blu-ray.

S2, EP3... I noticed that creature's name in the credits. I'm so excited. :whatever:

Yeah, I'm trying to remember the backstory as there's a lot of mythos there, but as others have said, in this world the seasons are irregular and they can last decades. That's why one of the older ladies calls one of the Stark kids (can't recall which) "Sweet Summer Child," because just about all they've known is summer, so she's just commenting on how innocent and naive they are. And Winters, particularly in the North, can be deadly and brutal. Plus, long ago, Winter was when all other supernatural creatures came out from hibernation. The reason the Stark motto is "Winter is Coming," is because they're the Lords of the North - and The North used to always be the ones in immediate danger from all the...things beyond the Wall. But since there's been no signs of any supernatural creatures or magical beings for a century or two (which means, they've missed at least a couple winters), they've become more like myths...at least to the younger generation. And "Winter is Coming" has pretty much become a catch all term for, "best be prepared cuz times gonna get rough."

Not sure how accurate the time frames I mentioned are because it's been too long since I've read it, but at least that's the gist.

Who?

I don't dare speak it's name. :argh:

"That creature" could apply to so many on this show, though, lol. Was it [blackout]in Batman Begins?[/blackout]

No, but it has appeared in a cbm. :o

well i know it's not quiksilver, he already showed up :rimshot:

Natalie Dormer qualifies as an "it"? Seems kinda harsh, lol.

since we're 3 pages in, and apparently i'm one of, if not the last person still in season 1.

just finished episode 5. i initially thought the jousting death was possibly planned (e-man can confirm i said this). it seems like someone is trying to clean up everything that Sir John was looking into before he was killed.
here's my theory, i will spoiler just in case lol
they focused so much on khaleesi being pregnant and possibly having a male heir, and it seems like Ned has found at least 2 bastard kids of Robert, the blacksmith boy, and the lil baby in the brothel. apparently john knew of them, and maybe he was killed cuz of it. they stress the importance of a male heir taking the throne. even sansa asked last ep (or was it 3?) what would happen if she had all female children. so i'm thinking, since Joffrey is next in line, he's probably not Robert's. I think Jamie Lannister is Uncle Daddy. all of the kids are blonde blonde, and have none of Robert's features, so he's probably daddy to all of them, which means that if Robert dies, he doesn't truly have an heir to the throne. am i close?

also, it was kinda cool to see the dragon skulls in the dungeons. but man, everyone is shady and nosy as heck in town.
Also, I can't recall the name of Ned's right-hand man, but i liked him. I still hate Jamie Lannister, even more now. :argh:

The Lady at the Vale was Catelyn's sister, right? She's crazy right? Also, is the Vale their version of Azkaban? I'd be afraid i'll roll out of my cell in my sleep!

also
i don't know who had it worse, being the actress who let that much too old boy breastfeed off her, or the kid who had to do it. there had to be some kinda backlash for that to be on screen i'd imagine

i guess i'm on to episode 6 now...

also, i will post this for SymbioticToxin. We were briefly discussing Game of Thrones on a SuperheroSkype Chat/Call, and he really enjoyed my quote:

CC said:
"When the little boy was sleeping and about to get snuck, homedawg was there to save him."
^ the backstory was how i like the Direwolves, and how JP teased me for liking them more than people, cuz i got really upset when Lady was killed lol. when i brought up how i was really scared they'd show them being killed as little pups in the first episode cuz the show was so graphic, he said that they probably should've since the mom was dead and all. so of course, i said the above in response to how important they are.
also, that's more or less a paraphrasing of the actual conversation. enjoy lol

i forgot to add. OMG the horse head thing! I turned my head just at the idea of it, so i don't know how much was shown, and i never want to see it! it sounded like he did it! did they show it?
