Hype TV Club does Game of Thrones in February!

ok, i can see why you liked episode 6 so much. i loved the ending lol

Hahahaha right? That's the moment that hooked me. I was on the fence about the show for the most part up until then.

That episode also has one of my favorite moments from the show...

I love Dormer. And those adorable dimples of hers.

S2, EP 4. Welp, now I get the Joffrey hate. Jesus.

Just now you get it? I mean, he gets bad there but he was always a little *******.

Eh, he never made my teeth grind like 90's of the other characters.

jp which character(s) do you like?

Well, in season 1 the only characters I found to be likable/tolerable were:

Ned Stark
Arya
Daenerys
Jon Snow

Half way through season 2, it's:

Tyrion
Arya
Daenerys
Jon Snow

Not sure why everyone must be written to be heinous.

since we're 3 pages in, and apparently i'm one of, if not the last person still in season 1.

just finished episode 5. i initially thought the jousting death was possibly planned (e-man can confirm i said this). it seems like someone is trying to clean up everything that Sir John was looking into before he was killed.
here's my theory, i will spoiler just in case lol
they focused so much on khaleesi being pregnant and possibly having a male heir, and it seems like Ned has found at least 2 bastard kids of Robert, the blacksmith boy, and the lil baby in the brothel. apparently john knew of them, and maybe he was killed cuz of it. they stress the importance of a male heir taking the throne. even sansa asked last ep (or was it 3?) what would happen if she had all female children. so i'm thinking, since Joffrey is next in line, he's probably not Robert's. I think Jamie Lannister is Uncle Daddy. all of the kids are blonde blonde, and have none of Robert's features, so he's probably daddy to all of them, which means that if Robert dies, he doesn't truly have an heir to the throne. am i close?
I don't recall how much was revealed in episode 6, so I'll just say...[blackout]you sure are.[/blackout]

The Lady at the Vale was Catelyn's sister, right? She's crazy right? Also, is the Vale their version of Azkaban? I'd be afraid i'll roll out of my cell in my sleep!

also
i don't know who had it worse, being the actress who let that much too old boy breastfeed off her, or the kid who had to do it. there had to be some kinda backlash for that to be on screen i'd imagine
Yeah, there was definite backlash over that. I mean, it was obviously a prosthetic and all that, but even so, that kid's gonna have that as his most memorable screen moment for years. That probably wouldn't be fun for a kid his age.

And yes, Lysa Arryn is Catelyn's sister and cray cray indeed.

The Vale is one of my favorite locations in the books. It wasn't designed just to be a prison like Azkaban was. It's basically a Lord's castle just like Winterfell or wherever, but it's meant to be one of the most impenetrable ones in Westeros due to its location and design. And yeah, those prison cells are ingenious. In the books, George made special mention that the floors are slightly slanted (toward the edge of course), so prisoners were REALLY paranoid about rolling out when they slept, haha.

the Vale must be like a castle in the clouds so to speak then. that moon door seems like a horrible way to walk out :o

Well I mean to say The Eyrie, not the Vale, as that's the actual castle (The Vale refers to the land it presides over). But yes, it sits on the tallest peak of a great mountain range, a castle above the clouds indeed. What the show skipped was just how long and treacherous the journey was to get up there, lol. That's why it's pretty darn impossible to attack.

i just watched Episode 7 :argh: i knew that little finger dude was a prick. pun intended

i liked the scenes with the Dothraki. they're a savage, nomadic people, but they seem to have more loyalty amongst them, than anyone in Knights Landing. Shady shady people!
also, i realized the lady from the woods was Tonks from Harry Potter.
i totally did not watch the entire scene between Jamie and Tywinn. the sounds were enough ugh

i would like this show more if they didn't over exaggerate the blood and carnage. i get it. i know it was ugly times, but i don't need to see the gruesome in such a vivid way. i know that not everyone feels that way.

"I want to be the Queen."

Lookig forward to Season 3

Finished S2. :wow:

overachiever! lol

just finished episode 8. them lannisters ugh still only like tyrion
the zombie guys at the wall were interesting. and the direwolves have the best timing ever. they always seem to be around when they're needed :awesome:
Bronn is a pretty amusing fella and Catelyn's sister is crazy, and her nephew is a whiny brat who needs to quit milking off his psycho mama lol

looking forward to seeing what Arya's up to and where she is.
and i could've done without seeing Hodor's hodor

Aw, these reactions are making all nostalgic. I remember the hype between seasons 2 & 3 being particularly glorious. HBO has always done loveliest trailers for this show, btw:

(very mild spoilers, obviously.)

Season 2 Trailer:

Season 3 Trailer:

Hodor's hodor still burned in my brain 4 years later, btw. :(

man..... i don't even wanna watch anymore! :cmad: :csad:

Aw, I know it's rough, CC. We've all been there. If it makes any difference, the end of the next episode is roughly just as big in a much less depressing/upsetting way?

it'd better be, cuz i'm watching episode 10 now. still mad! forever sad :(

well i finally finished season 1. i'm not ready for season 2 yet lol. maybe tomorrow or this weekend
