Fant4stic "I am DOOM! What MODS Dare Stand Against Me!

This is even worse than I could have imagined. Literally...I really wasn't expecting news THIS bad in regards to how they are handling Doom. And I have lowwww expectations to begin with.

I was trying to find some possible way to see this as not as absolutely awful as it sounds, and I thought 'maybe he's still close to being Doom and they're just using this as a way to give him the name . . .'

. . . But that's impossible because if he were close to Doom, he wouldn't be 'chatting' in any way that would require a name. Just that idea - Doom sitting down at a computer and interacting with people who are so far beneath him - means that we have no hope of getting a Doom that is anything close to what Doom should be.

This Doom sounds like Trank: a director who should remain professional and not get into petty arguments on Twitter and other social media with fans, but he does, posting pictures of dogs and what not to troll them.

I'm guessing that Trank felt ******** on the internet, especially after his Twitter account was closed down by Fox, so decided to make Doom in his own image as someone who strikes back on the internet at the fans.

I can't wait to see what kind of spin the people involved with the film will put on this dude's comments.

The funny thing is we may yet look back one day and conclude that Tony Kebbell played a better Dr. Doom in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes than he did in Fantastic Four.

I think the voice/presence is KEY to Doom's success...Bill Nighy (Viktor from Underworld, Davy Jones from Pirates 2/3) would be IDEAL...perhaps someone else??? Suggestions???

I would probably pick Mark Strong for the voice.

Going with yesterday's news about Doom.....Jesse Eisenberg.

"Anti-social programmer". So I guess we will be dealing with another version of Doom that undergoes a transformation. Instead of having a Doom with the resources and genius to build his own armored suit.

Maybe they should just go all out and give him the goat legs as well.

I can't help but think that some DC fans who were sceptical of Jesse as Lex are now saying to themselves "well it could be A LOT worse". :whatever: :oldrazz:

Edit: @Nathan. Ugh. Goat legs. Don't remind me. lol

This movie will need to be a freaking masterpiece now for me to watch it, no room for error now IMO.

I can't believe you guys are surprised. The writings been on the wall for awhile now that this was going to be a very loose adaptation of The Fantastic Four. At this point it's just easier not to look at this as a FF movie and just look at it as chronicle 2.

Indeed, this is a Chronicle movie but with a (sort of) Fantastic Four makeover. FOX quite obviously has no interest in FF other than holding onto the rights, but they do want a Chronicle sequel, so this is one stone for two birds.

Yeah, Fox just feel really behind the zeitgeist here. Guardians of the Galaxy was fun, old-school space opera with larger-than-life characters and high-concept zany weirdness, and was one of the year's biggest blockbuster success stories. If Fox had their finger on the pulse they'd be tapping into that with Fantastic Four. Instead, they're still in the mire of thinking Nolan-style grittiness is the key to capturing audience imagination, as if you can approach the Fantastic Four the way you would Batman.

I agree, and even with DOFP which I thought was great, there was something about it that made it feel out dated to me.

So okay, from this little bit of information - he's a computer programmer and blogger - I gather one of his powers will be talking to machines.

So let's see -
He'll be transformed into metallic man like the first movie, and have the power to control hordes of Doombots in attempting to take over the world and in battle against the Fantastic Four.

Meanwhile, Marvel will have already dropped Avengers: Age of Ultron, where a metallic man has the power to control hordes of Ultron Drones in attempting to take over the world and in battle against the Avengers.

You want to put a nail in Fox's coffin? Just re-release Age of Ultron with additional footage the same weekend. Maybe footage that includes Ant-Man and the Wasp.

I wonder if blogger Doom will be a way of Trank hitting back at "whiny internet fanboys" trashing his bold new vision?

Sounds like that could be part of it.

Only problem with that is that he's losing more supporters than gaining them. Plus at this stage the whole "whiny internet fanboy" dismissal is a cop out. Everybody can't be wrong with how they're feel about this reboot. And even if that moron Trank doesn't care at this point, someone at Fox or Disney should.

But don't let Kinberg off the hook either! All that crap about making sure things are 100% or whatever drivel he made up for not showing up at Comic Con or releasing a trailer just sunk the remaining ounce of his credibility.

This is maddening. It's one thing to rush out a film in a last-ditch effort to keep the rights, that I can at least understand from a business perspective, but to completely ignore 50 years of source material and make just whatever the hell movie you want to is so deliberately defiant to the fans, the one group of people who might actually want to see this movie.
I'm not trying to sound dramatic here, I just find it irritating how FOX is trying so hard to keep their hands on a movie property that they clearly don't even know what to do with in the first place.

So you make your villain someone who is pretty much one of the core demographic of comic books.

Lol. Unrelated, but this seems like one of the issues I had with GL.
Ryan Reynolds, the handsome unlikeable jock, is the guy we are supposed to root for while Hector Hammond, the ugly introverted nerd, is the evil, disgusting villain, despite the fact that the fans of the source material probably have more in common with Hector than Hal.

Domaschev.
Eh, this post perfectly expresses how I'm feeling right now.
Domaschev, indeed.

But seriously. This is even worse than Red Skull the enemy of the Nazis, but still not as bad as Galacticloud. Or maybe it is, I don't know; but it's definitely funnier.

There are young guys out there in real life who are royalty or in a political family and end up having to take the helm at an early age, I don't see why this is so unbelievable to put on screen. It happens all over the world.

Haha. Fantastic point. The same can be said for removing the nerd in Peter Parker in ASM to become a hipster cool guy.

I haven't had much interest at all in this film. I've been following what many of you have said in response to the little info about this film and trust that it really is as bad as it sounds.

So Dr. Doom is an internet blogger that goes by Doom
I mean WTF man how can Marvel make a talking Racoon and a mute Tree believeable but Fox for the 3rd time not know how to handle Doom :cmad:

call me crazy but I can't wait to see how bad this turns out

So with these rumours before of Doom being a woman, would that have been as bad as Domaschev being an internet blogger with the chatroom handle "Doom"?
