Iron Man "i Am Iron Man"??? (*spoiler*)

Well, correct me if I'm wrong here, but that's how it is in the comics. And after watching that movie, how could you not see that coming? That's totally in character for Stark. He's a guy that likes to have it all. It would be impossible for him to resist telling the public.

Exactly! People complaining about this really need to think about this a bit.

I love the fact that he ousted himself. It's going to be nice to see a comic book franchise where the hero isn't constantly trying to hide his true identity. As far as the friends and employees, maybe they should have a few lines between Tony and Happy in the sequel where Tony casually mentions the fact that he's had to increase the salary of every Stark Industries employee in order to keep them on staff. But I doubt they'll give the matter too much thought. It's the same with the construction workers on the new Death Star in "Return of the Jedi". You knew the place was a target when you took the job!

"FAMILY GUY"-STYLE SMASH CUT TO: Darth Vader sitting dejectedly behind a desk in the Empire's Unemployment Office. A blue collar laborer is looking at the piece of paper he's just been handed and says, "Hell nah!! Didn't this place get blown up the last time you built it? I ain't helping you build another one! What else you got?"

Personally, I love that he outed himself. It makes this story different from all the oher Superhero stories out there. Plus as I'm reading more about Tony Stark (I'm a newbie when it comes to Iron Man) it seems very fitting and in character that he would do so.

Really Stark doesnt need to hide his identity. If Iron man is the body guard, any faults iron man does will reflect back on Stark anyway. Also Stark really doesn't need Clark Kent moments.

I don't wanna debate but I just got out of the movie (AWESOME) and at first I was surprised by the reveal and didn't like it. But after thinking about it, it was a great idea--it's fresh for the genre not to mention comic loyal. Only reason I didn't like it at first was cause I wasn't expecting it, making it a great ending :yay:

Tony Stark lives for Tony Stark. He has no family, his employees are all over the world. And knowing your boss is Iron Man isn't as dangerous as you would think. That just means security is even more improved upon and you're probably safer.

I doubt they are safer, bomb their house and IM can do nothing about it but realise it was his fault

Some heroes have secret ID's and some don't.

Parker needs to keep his Spider-Man antics secret because he's relatively poor. He can't afford security for his loved ones, and his enemies are typically TRUE psychopaths.

The Fantastic Four didn't really have much of a choice in hiding their identities. Ben Grimm was permanently deformed after their space flight. And a team of four people... well... it's hard to hide their ID's when those same 4 people hang out in real life a lot. And the only real family the FF has is each other... who are also heroes. So anyone that's gonna attack is gonna attack.

With Iron Man, Stark works with the government eventually, and he's very rich. His best friend works in the military and can protect himself, and his beloved assistants get Stark's personal billionaire protection.

Batman (while also a billionaire) is not a very well-liked hero. Because of the way he beats the crap outta criminals and does things his own way, people think of him as a dangerous vigilante. So he stays secret. Plus, Wayne doesn't trust anyone to get the job done but himself, so why bother telling people what he does as a hero? He's gonna go it alone anyway.

So heroes have different reasons to go public or stay private. And Stark's reason for going private works for me.
