... as of yesterday, at 3:29 pm, May 6th, 2009, I became hooked up to an inulin pump.

When 3:30 came and went a while ago, it was the first time in over 357 months (that'll take you back to end of July, 1979 :wow: ) that an entire 24 hour period came and went without me taking an insulin injection.

The pump cost a billion dollars, and the monthly supplies run around $200, but they say it'll add 15 years to my lifespan....

Too bad, suckers... :oldrazz:

I went from 150 injections/month to 10 injections/month.

My next injection will be on Saturday, and every 3 days after that.

It's a weird feeling...

Send money to the Mike 13 Insulin Charity Fund to myself.
Cahs only please.

Thanks for listening...

Mike

Congratulations. My Dad has been on a Pump for about 7 or 8 years. He loves it. Life was so much harder for him before he got it.

Thanks...

I could have been on one sooner... but I've never had the medical coverage, but I decided to just buy the friggin thing and move on with my life...

$6800 samolies... :wow:

:yay:

It'll be worth it.

Sorry to hear that. I wish I could help you but I just had my Borg implants removed today.

It really sucks that you had to cover so much of that by yourself. I guess insurance won't cover it because technically you don't "need" it. If insulin is being pumped into you, why do you still need to give yourself shots?

The insulin is being pumped into me through an injection that stays implanted into my skin for 3 days... as opposed to the old 4 to 5 injections per day (at every meal & before bedtime).

Wow, that's incredible. I didn't realize you'd have to inject yourself that often. It's amazing what things insurance will/won't cover. Viagra? Sure. Medical equipment that allows freedom from hourly injections? Nah. Staple your stomach so you will stop overeating? Sure.

Sorry for asking a lot of questions, but where is the pump? Inside? and then you inject insulin into it every 3 days and it slowly releases it?

The insurance doesn't cover the Viagra neither... :cmad: :csad:

I carry the pump like a cell phone, on my belt, on a leg strap, and there's an infusion tube that goes from it to where the injection site is... typically on my stomach.

It releases a basil insulin throughout the day that covers things like sugar spikes created by my liver when I sleep at night and other such non-food controls... when I eat, I enter my blood sugar levels and I add in the carbohydrates of the meal in question and it calculates the amounts that I need and injects it...

I was half expecting him to be Steve Austin.......The Six Million Dollar Man, not the wrestler.
