Because now it would be too predicitable. I hope Nolan does something more original.

Anyone else agree?

i do

For begins it, it was BALE DAMMIT!

For the sequel, its

CONTINUITY DAMMIT!

Rachel dying by the hands of Joker is the predictable part.

I don't care how they do it, as long as she's killed off in a good way, I'm fine. But if she stays in, it's whatever. I'll deal.

Where did u guys get this DAMMIT phrase from???

Just don't bring her back. Holmes was horrible and we really don't need her continuing to ruin what could've been a worthwhile category.

So what your're saying is that she should die at the beginning. THats BRILLIANT!!!

I think Rachel said her goodbyes near end of BB.

Exactly. That's enough reason not to bring her back. She said her goodbyes, and she's gone. Excellent. :)

It's a glaring omission if she doesn't come back. If Rachel's not back, I won't have a problem getting over it (seeing as how I didn't really care for the character in the first place). However, her presence (and yes, death) can greatly help the story.

Rachel speaks to Bruce Wayne in and out of costume. She has an established personal relationship with Bruce, as well as aiding in the effort to clean up Gotham that he so firmly believes in. Having The Joker kill her is a great way to get at the intense dynamic that makes the Clown Prince of Crime Batman's #1 enemy. It's absolutely necessary to have that relationship strongly represently on screen and there's no one better to fill that role than Rachel. No one else close to Bruce is gonna get offed and for God's sake, let's not have another 'made up' character.

It may seem predictable to fans because we have a better understanding of the mythos than the general audience. Even if it is predictable, the real value of it would depend on the execution and the rammifications it brings. There will be plenty of opportunity for Nolan to be creative in the telling of this story, but certain dynamics that seem obvious to readers of the source material need to happen. This is one of them. Besides, with Harvey coming to town, Rachel's role in the DA's office is rather redundant. They're not going to pursue a romantic relationship between Rachel and Bruce, so get her up outta there.

Off with her head. No seriously, an attempt at decapitation wouldn't be bad at all. :joker:

Its pretty much a given that Rachel will die. I'm not worried about that even though it would be cliched b/c the key lies in how they are gonna make her go. I'm confident they will do something dramatic with that.

I dont want her to die too. Most ppl know Batman is not Spiderman or Superman with a happy soulmate but make the Bruce-Rachel ending intelligent and believable not some cheap cop out.
Many already call it as foul a copycat of Green Goblin killing Gwen.

No Rachel Killing, by now the idea has just turned into a ridiculous thing. Batman shouldn't have to wait until Rachel gets killed so he can start hating The Joker. Joker was BORN to be Bats antithesis, Rachel will have nothing to do with that. The way Batman and The Joker play off each other will be more than enough. And yup, the Rachel killing is a message board cliche by now.

She shouldn't be mentioned again.

The most predictable thing was having a useless weak love interest for a starter.

Her character has already done her part, in my opinion. I say we just move on.

Cliche has nothing to do with it. Joker is Batman's greatest nemesis for much more than just their polarizing personalities. True, that interaction is part of it, but as you mentioned, Batman HATES The Joker. That relationship transcends basic "hero vs. villain" and evolved to something much more visceral. Why? Because Mr. J has managed to strike at Batman like no other villain has. He 'killed' one of his partners, crippled another and murdered the wife of one his closest allies. On top of that, Joker's the most visible reminder of the chaos and mayhem that plagues Gotham. No other of Batman's rogues has that type of resume. Joker can't be 'just another villain'. His on-screen representation needs to be true to his comic roots and cause pain for both, Bruce Wayne and Batman. Dawes has gotta go.

That's true, that makes Mr, J so special :D I just don't like the idea of going into the movie knowing what's going to happen to a character in the film like that, and it's probably too early for Joker to start getting personal with Batman, I agree he should do something on the level of killing Todd in the movies, but this is just his introduction chapter. I'd prefer just having Joker scarring Dent at the end, it would be personal, but not on the level of Rachel.

Just say she got transferred to a different city or something. They don't HAVE to kill her. It'd be nice, sure, but it's not necessary.

It's kinda scary how bad some people want to see her killed .

Admittedly, I can't stand Rachel and just want her gone. That said, I think she can finally be of some use here. Maybe even going as far as to make Bruce rethink about those who are close to him as he pursues his crusade (OK, now that might be cliched, so maybe no).

I'd like for Joker to scar Dent at the end as well, although some believe it'll take away from the main story of the film (which I don't really understand how). I think it's a great way to further underscore the gravity of the situation at hand, as well as creating some intrigue on the audience's part for BB3. We don't need to see Two-Face, but seeing what will inevitably send Dent down that path would fit in nicely.

That's a little too convenient, isn't it? If she wanted to leave, wouldn't she have done so long ago. Her just leaving flies in the face of all that stuff she spouted about Gotham having no chance when the good people do nothing. Why would she just turn her back on the city when she was one of the few remaining elements of justice that hadn't been tainted by the corruption?
