I have a question regarding the "PG-13" Regulation of the Hype

****, I wouldn't dare put my address on here. I am actually fearful of about 25% of the people on here. Would you feel safe if JAL knew your address?

What would he do go to your house and be awkward around your sister?

Like some people have said, it depends on the mod and the mood. I remember one time Jack Rabbit went into the lounge for no reason and told JAL to go kill himself. At the time JAL and myself were talking about some movie. Telling someone to go kill themselves bypasses PG-13 regulations. If it were a joke, then it's a joke, but this was said in a serious way. The guy never said anything after that post. Nothing was done, maybe a mod didn't see it, but it was rude and a-hole thing to say.

 No it doesn't.

I tell people to kill themselves all the time. Heck I got probation for telling Asteroid-Man to kill himself and for being ******ed. Of course, the mod in question probably didn't have a sense of humor and even Asteroid-Man said he wasn't offended, of course the mods don't care because they didn't want to look bad.

You know, I wouldn't actually mind if the moderation standards on this forum varied from board to board as long as it was consistent within that board.

there should also be some social lapse in community. I don't mind pg 13 talk when it comes to superhero stuff but community should be more lasped. I don't even mind offensive language as long as it isn't used to offend.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. The state of fear that the mods have put on here that cause some to believe that a poster will be banned just for questioning policy. A sad state here.

There's nothing wrong with questioning policy. It actually helps us run the site better.

But to answer your question, there's no way we're going to catch everything given the size of the Board, but yes, we try to keep it somewhat tame because our statistics show that there are a lot of kids coming here with or without their parents (who have written us plenty of times about questionable content). Our mods know this and try their best to keep it clean.

well alot of the things in the opening post are frequency based. you can say mother****er but only once in 90 minutes or so. so how would that be regulated on the hype. where anything is persistant.

Yes but there is no "general rules and regulations". I think too many times moderators who I will admit "think" they are acting in the right, but in many circumstances are overreacting. Moderation should be consistent and I'll even agree with November Rain about having "community" probably be more lapse when it comes to rules. But it's a common theme of some moderators overreacting and an Admin coming in to fix or usually undo what was done.

And honestly, Mirko, rules and regulations would help the regular poster who that 1 time out of 100 when is actually them in the right and a moderator lying. When the matter comes to you, you are likely only to believe the moderator. I think rules and regs should be put into place to provide guidelines so we have less overreacting and honestly less vendettas.

Or we could just have a Darthphere vs Morg deathmatch with whips on a spiked platform

PS It's fewer vendettas.

erasing evidence should also be a no no. I'm not a fan of post being erased. or edited.

it's impossible to defend a claim or not being malicious (as anyone can read something out of context) when it's gone. Then it just becomes a case of your word over a moderators.

screen capping evidence of all offences should be required. and provided as evidence for any 'questionable' decision (spamming and posting obscene pictures withstanding).

Some might say this will add work to a moderator's duties but to be fair, if one isn't up to the job of doign it properly, then they shouldn't be one. It's far too over-glamourised.

The whole thing with Danger Mouse vs. Holly was a great example of that.

He had no screen cap, no pm in his box all he had was something that could be easily done by wrapping quotes around a sentence and sticking Holly's name in it.

But what happened, it was Moderator vs. Regular Poster and Holly got banned. Which it should be noted, a lot of moderators said to me in pms they didn't believe Danger Mouse. But on one hand the Admins had to decide whether to ban Holly or believe her which would essentially mean that DM was lying, so the choice was made which is ironic since DM is no longer a moderator.

Regardless of Holly's previous indiscretions, she should never of been banned.

I just wanted to say something regarding the overreacting, whenever a call is made on a ban, or probation, hell even an infraction, unless it's a straight up thing like posting porn, or a clear cut over the line flaming or trolling, the staff all go over it with each other, and then the call is made. So statements like "They gave me an infraction just because they don't like me" is a fallacy.

Believe me, if i just gave out infractions to posters who irked me, i'd be a lot more hardass.

I didn't read the thing about hotlinking being an offense. So I did a thread yesterday. I posted 3 posts with hotlinked items in it. Fire, took out 2 out of the 3 of my posts and just warned me in the thread not to hotlink. Since yesterday now I host all my pictures. Morg came by hours later saw the 1 post that wasn't edited and infracted me even though it was apparent that Fire already "warned" me.

Well, that's Morg's thing, i think he gave Mister J an infraction for a three month old post. After Fire gave the warning you could have rehosted those pics, and avoided being Morg'd

Morg should be a moderator of Celebrities or something and kept out of Community or at least have no "jurisdiction" here, imo.

Sounds like a breakdown in communication within the Moderators club. You deserve a handwritten apology for this injustice. Did you explain the situation to Morg?

His response is "well there aren't any points in your infraction". :whatever:

If a Mod has to be kept out of certain areas should they even be a Mod at all?

And those Mods have no "jurisdiction" in any other forum?
Last time I checked, I think Fire was a specific forum before he was made a general moderator, because I asked him if he could close a thread or something and he said he couldn't.
