I have a question regarding the "PG-13" Regulation of the Hype

The stuff being said here is way too raunchy for PG, and the lack of being able to say the B word or S word is below PG-13, but you can make up for the lack of those words by saying the A word every other sentance.

But, all in all, the general rules of the Hype are fine by me. Mods abusing their power is a whole other thing.

It's not PG13, its like TV. You can show all the gore you want, but no nudity and no cussing.

There's nothing wrong with questioning policy. It actually helps us run the site better.

But to answer your question, there's no way we're going to catch everything given the size of the Board, but yes, we try to keep it somewhat tame because our statistics show that there are a lot of kids coming here with or without their parents (who have written us plenty of times about questionable content). Our mods know this and try their best to keep it clean.

Really? I mean, I don't doubt there are some kids on here, but a lot? Are they simply lurking or just not post as often? This is interesting to know because yeah, the mods will say that a lot, but if there are actual statistics to back them up, well that's swell. Anyway we would be able to view these stats?

Also, I thank you for responding.

I don't think SHH even cared about the "children" when I first came up. I'm guessing they are looking for the slew of kids to start posting here because of all the new comic book movies.

Having been here from the beginning, I can say with relative certainty that SHH has always been fairly PG-13. Granted, things were a bit different back in 2000 and 2001 just because we were a smaller, more tight-knit community of about 30 or 40 and we all basically knew each other. Thus we could get away with more ball busting and people knew not to take it seriously and the moderators would be more lenient based on the fact that they knew each of us personally. The site has since grown a lot to the point where we have probably well over 3,000 active members. Therefore we must act in a more uniform way and cannot always take context into consideration.

Except you guys don't, which is kind of the issue here.

I'm not going to be the goody two shoes from that thread I created but I'll try to tone it down a bit.

Of course not...what would all the Darthamanics around here think if you were a goody two shoes all the time?

But you guys don't. Every mod is almost like a cowboy. Shoot first, ask questions later.

I've known two other people I consider to be the same personality type as JAL.

The Hype's strictness is fine as is.
There always needs to be a limit, but if you start bending the rules more and more you'll eventually end up with goatse threads and no one needs that.

yeah that's not true on here either. I had a couple gifs from horror movies removed in the gif thread because they were considered offensive. I remember one being a pencil going into an eyeball.

I also had a thread closed because I posted my changed opinion on a certain movie. This whole site has opinions.

Mods are very inconsistent.

I don't think anyone's wants more slackness, just better order so everyone is playing by the same book and everyone knows where they stand.

you can't play a game if everyone's interpretation of the rules are different.

Darth, without a doubt you are one of the intellectual people on the Hype.
