I have a question regarding the "PG-13" Regulation of the Hype

If a cop plants drugs on someone who has been convicted 5 times before of drug possession, who is the court going to believe? The cop or the drug dealer who says, "They weren't mine this time!" I'm not saying it was justifiable, but, its not as if we didn't have good reason to ignore Holly's "word." We had no reason to assume DM was being anything but honest.

Bottom line the evidence wasn't there. True or False? :huh:

From what I was told, Mirko had the option of believing Holly which would mean that DM would be done as a moderator. Which is ironic since months later, he was demodded anyways. But I know Holly has stated things against Mirko in the past, and I'm sure that added to her being banned.

DM maintains to this day that the PM was real and he simply deleted it. The fact of the matter is, the only two people who REALLY know are DM and Holly. Mirko made the choice to take DM's word over Holly. Considering Holly's record, do you blame him? Whose word would you take if you were a judge, Erz. A highly decorated cop without a flaw on his record or the 5 time convicted drug dealer?

Actually DM said he deleted the PM so it could have just been thrown out b/c the proof was gone, there didn't need to be a side chosen.
 
Look, this is all I'm going to say on the matter, so I'm going to keep it brief.

At the time of the incident, the staff was pretty torn on the matter. On one hand, we sided with DM because he was a mod and we had every reason to trust that he was telling the truth about the PM matter. On the other hand, knowing Holly the way we did, it didn't make sense for her to be this adamant in her defense if she actually had done it.

We bickered and fought about it for some time. And when it came down to make the decision, we turned to the boss man. Mirko's call was to side with the Red Font, and to leave Holly (who shouldn't have been on the site anyway) banned.

Did we all agree with the call and sing songs and hold hands declaring everything to be all rainbows, sunshine, and Skittles? No. But the call was made from the man upstairs. It's his site. We're just his reps.

Flash forward months later. Holly is still gone, and Danger Mouse is no longer a mod.

And that's really it.

I never thought DM was held in such high esteem since I was told that many of the many moderators didn't believe him but ultimately, it was Mirko's decision.

Like Chris said, the staff was split on it, so we asked Mirko for a directive. He made the choice to believe his moderator, not the person who has caused more trouble on this site than anyone else in Hype history. Do you really blame him?

Brodie for the most part has always known how to walk the line. Toven on the other hand continually crosses it. But knowing you Erz, I'm guessing you're taking a shot at Morg

I've heard you mention this DM/Holly situation several times on the board, and other posters have also mentioned it. I was not around as a moderator during this time, so I'll stay out of it. However, what is this really about, making the board a better place going forward or rehashing past situations over and over again?

I'm hoping it is because you actually care about the welfare of The Hype because you value it, which means you care about posters such as Batman432 and SuperFace989, not just trying to stir up past arguments which have already run their course a long time ago because you have an E-connection with them. This is a different Hype then it was then, some believe it has changed for the better and some believe for the worse.

I truly believe you like to post here and you are trying to help The Hype evolve and become a better place for everybody. I think you bring a lot to the table as a poster, and we appreciate the suggestions by you and all, but I am curious as to your motives.

My motives are kinda selfish in a way, I probably wouldn't even been in this thread if some of my posts weren't deleted because of the "content" or because I was infracted after I was already warned in the thread.

As evidence in this thread, I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Erz may be genuine in his intent to better the Hype... but of course there will always be additional, outside factors that might influence his opinion. Namely being LSP and the former members that post there not that do not post here... let's not be coy. *cue Erz and other LSPers in stating that the site no longer dwells on SHH*

I know that they are two separate entities... but that doesn't change that the majority of the regular posters there were/are quality SHH Community posters. Quality in my eyes, troublemakers on others... they made this place a fun and interesting place to post at. Now they are gone or post rarely due to, IMO, the strict moderation here when it comes to the "feelings" of other posters.

Is this something we can fix. Who cares right? There are new posters every day at the Hype. Ther are new Randos and Noirs popping up left and right, but I feel they are not the same quality as people who used to post in the Community. I speak mostly of Community because I have been a Community ****e as of the last few years, and I've noticed the trend in crappy posts followed by crappier posts... its pretty obvious. The PC issue should be more uniform in the governing structure. There should be more rules as far as the moderation is concerned since the level of moderation has gone considerably up in the last few years.

Also, what is wrong with a "voice of reason" forum for particular events like this? There is a Community Diner forum for Bobsakes... why not a forum for us naysayers to say thee nay to moderation decisions? How could it hurt?
