I think people were complaining about Halle leading the team rather than Storm. Halle's Storm in X1 and X2, due to a number of factors within and outside her control, is not as dominant as comics Storm. I quite like the Storm/Beast/Wolverine seniority as it exists now although I'd also like to see Cyclops return at some point and take over.
