I Know You'll Have The Dack Stecked Against The Wrestling Thread

Came across this article today. This is probably the best piece I've seen written on Sting.

You do not hear many backstage stories about Sting given his lack of politicking and nice guy demeanor. This was a good glimpse at Sting's character backstage, with some cool stories thrown in. I already knew he was considered a good guy, but man my respect grew immensely after reading this.

I highly recommend reading it.

About the only time I hear anything bad about Sting is when people assume he's a politician because he was a main eventer in WCW and TNA, and also from people who are bitter over the suicide dive botch that injured Rick Rude.

Something just occurred to me, has the Divas title ever been defended at Wrestlemania since it was introduced? I know the Women's title has many times but I don't remember if the Divas title has.

Last year.

Almost a damn shame, that title's been around for eight years and has only been defended once at Wrestlemania in a match that wasn't even one on one.

That Grave Consequences match was so fun on Lucha Underground. I'm really getting invested in the wrestlers now.

Top 5 Lucha Underground Luchadores:

Fénix
Pentagón Jr.
Prince Puma
King Cuerno
Sexy Star

Aerostar defeats Drago, putting him ahead in the best 3 of 5 Series on Lucha Underground.

It's hard to narrow down a top 5 for LU. There are some many people there that are talented and fun to watch.

For me, the ones I definitely tune in for are Fenix, Mil Muertes, Pentagon Jr (to the point I drew fan art), King Cuerno and Prince Puma. Not to take away from the likes of Aerostar, Drago, Sexy Star, Ivalise, Son of Havoc, Argenis, Pimpanela Escarlata, Johnny Mundo, etc. So much talent that brings a lot of different aspects to the show,

Last month Gorilla Blood had a great interview with referee Rick Knox. Got some great info out of it there. It seems like LU might not be a huge ratings grabber yet, but it shows signs of growth and backing from El Rey Network so I can definitely and hope to see this show become the number 2 company in the states due to the AAA talent mixed with indy talent.

So she's, what, 14 now?

She needs a bit more bodyfat, jeez. I know couples compensate for each other's flaws, but does she have to go so far to be CM Punk's doppelganger in physique?

NXT from Columbus, Ohio was good.

Triple H said NXT is not a developmental brand any more a brand in it's own right.

Brock Lesnar guy was at NXT and looked disinterested most of the time. I think he only marked out for Enzo and Big Cass.

Tyler Breeze kept screaming "don't touch me" and got a "don't touch him" chant from the crowd.

Amore tells "the Australian kid" Buddy Murphy to "didgeridoo himself a favor" by kicking rocks with flip-flops and breaking his toe. Amore tells "sweet boy" to "skedaddle." :lmao:

Blake was on the receiving end of a "This guy's SAWFT" chant.

Dana Brooke will début soon.

Kevin Owens character is cool. Owens is pulling a Walter White. Owens says he is doing it for his family but is doing it for himself.

Kevin Owens stamp on Alex Riley on the way out was classic heel move.

Finn Balor is coming off a little weak on the mic.

I bet she's one of those freaks who eats pizza and donuts all the time and never gains a pound. You skinny *****! :argh:

I want to jump in and AJ bash simply to piss off Jabar. But I can't...

It's not her fault he is like he is.

This is the first Wrestlemania in YEARS where I am not looking forward to watching. Honestly, I am really unsure if I will even order it this year. Sting Vs Triple H is the ONLY match that has my interest and that's just because it's Sting. Bray Vs Undertaker seems like it will be meh since there really hasn't been any good build up to it. Brock VS Roman Reigns is also meh. Even with Heyman cutting some awesome promo's to me it will only be good if Brock totally dominates and squashes Reigns like he did Cena at SummerSlam, then goes back to UFC with the WWE title. That would lead to a great storyline with some real life elements to it. Those storylines are always the most interesting and entertaining if done right.

Ok guys so if the rumors of Bryan and Cena having to headline houseshows with the midcard belts are true then who should be in the contendership pools for these belts:

IMO for Bryan as IC champ, I'd have Ziggler, Cesaro, Ambrose, Barrett, Neville and for Cena, it would be Sheamus, Stardust/Cody, Tyson Kidd, and Bo Dallas.

Then eventually cap it off with a unification feud between Cena/Bryan

I had an idea a while back of between every PPV do a #1 contenders tournament and rotate it for every belt IC, US and Tag. It fills you up with tons of matches and focuses on the belts. Build feuds off each tourney winner and just keep rotating onto the next title.

It seems just like a simple thing to do. I guess philosophically it doesn't jive with a 70yr old control freak. I'm just a worthless millennial I suppose....:(

Tournaments are cumbersome and should be used rarely, but I am in favour of having #1 contender to title X matches on PPVs more often. It gives bigger stakes to non-title singles matches, is an easy storyline hook that can be re-used over and over again, and gives workers who are not currently in a big dramatic plotline something to do.

The fact that WWE doesn't give a **** about titles and tournaments makes me appreciate NJPW's tournament and title structure even more.

It's never a bad time to hijack a discussion and make it about NJPW right?...

spoony has posted a 3 part review of the road to mania

While the card may not be stellar, the show won't be WM 27 / 29 bad.
