I met Jack Nicholson today!

Even if Nicholson was saying "I warned him about taking the role" (and he wasn't)...I don't see how anyone can take it as malicious. It is just Jack being Jack. He is one of those guys where you really can't take much that he says seriously.

On a side note, I think its amazing that he continues to sign autographs and BS with his fans. He has reached the point in his career where he could pretty much moon them and tell them to all go to hell and he would still get huge roles and his movies would still make money. And yet he continues to be a nice guy.

I don't see how people even interpreted it as Jack warning him of the Joker role. That was a ridiculous thought from the start. I don't even think Jack knew he was playing the Joker.

But I also hear he's a nice guy when it comes to the fans. Must have been cool meeting him Cass

Some of the younger Hollywood types could learn a lot from the way Jack treats his fans. I'm sure it could only help their popularity.

It's too bad that Morgan Freeman does the opposite of Jack. He didn't mingle with the fans at all, apart from a wave when he left. I wasn't surprised as he did the same thing at the Batman Begins premiere I went to a couple of years ago, but there were a lot of very pissed off people who didn't realise that Morgan doesn't sign autographs.

I was surprised to learn the next day that Jack pretty much completely snubbed the press at the premiere though. He didn't seem to talk to them at all. Does he usually do that or do you think he was trying to avoid questions about Heath Ledger?

Met Jack eh? Must have been the most badass experience of your life, LoL.

I've been lucky enough to meet a lot of actors I admire but Jack was always my most wanted. I'll be smiling about this for a long time. :)

For anyone interested, I put up the few photos I had taken at photobucket. Links here:

There's a good video of the premiere online if you check YouTube. It's about nine minutes long and shows a lot of the arrivials, Morgan, Jack, etc. :)

On the IMDB site. They are reporting that Jack did indeed warn Heath about taking the Joker role, because of the taxing nature of the role. Taxing nature? I love Nicholson as the Joker don't get me wrong, but he was just playing a role he has played a 100 times. Only this time with make up.

Yeah I saw that, pretty sure they're wrong.

Since it's IMDB, I'll take that bit of news with a grain of salt.

IMDB? You mean the Idiot Moron Data Base? Nicholson most likely didn't warn Ledger about the role because he seemed angered that he wasn't approached at any degree to be involved in TDK and that made him a little upset . . .

It was about the drugs he was taking, Ambien. He warned Ledger about the side effects of those because he had taken them and it almost led to an accident which probably could have killed him.

^wow, really? still . . . if it's on IMDb; I'll wait for another source to confirm

Asked about Ledger's death, Nicholson said: "Wasn't that horrible."

The actor, who was wearing sunglasses at tonight's premiere, said: "I took Ambien once. I fell asleep and then got a call and almost drove off a cliff 50 yards from my house."

Reports have suggested that Ledger may have found playing the Joker role in the new Batman movie too much, and that the part left him unable to sleep.

But asked about the role - which Nicholson also played - the veteran star simply said: "Oh the Joker role..."

Later, at the premiere of his new film "The Bucket List," Nicholson reportedly said he "warns people about Ambien."

Well how is it pronounced? I have never had to actually spell it out.

Oh right. That is how I meant to spell it. My hand just slipped a few times.:o
