I Present...The SHH RPG Wiki!

The team page? Me. Did it from memory though, so it might well be faulty.

As too the pictures: I don't care if people want them bigger, but we need a uniformed size.

Is anyone else not seeing any new posts in this thread, despite the approval forum showing the link here and indicating that there are new posts?

EDIT: Now they're there. Weird.

Except, you know, I don't need to know Garth's biggest secret is that maybe he doesn't love his wife anymore.

But like I said, I'm obviously not going to win this one, so I'd just like all of you to voice your complaints, and we can work from there.

Except the fact that, if he didn't confess? Orin couldn't go save his wife. Cause, you know...they would've been stuck in the Heavenspan forever. No, not important at all. And even so? That added but a few words. That one is one I could see shortened, but you chose a weak example. That wasn't paragraphs upon paragraphs of wasted space.

I'm just surprised is all, that apparently reading a long wiki article is as much of a hassle as going through the IC threads and finding that character's posts. Because, isn't that what we always would tell people? "We'd prefer if you went back, and read several of their posts, etc etc to...to know what's been done". Long or not, it is still 875698576983 times shorter than not only the posts in the IC thread, but searching through them.

Let's compare something, shall we Harl? Your work with Captain Nazi...before the DA arc was what...one? two story arcs? Now look at the length of what you put in the wiki article. Now, look at mine for Aquaman. I had at least like 5 or 6 arcs, and that last arc had smaller arcs within it. So multiply what you typed up with Nazi, by about 6 at least...and try to tell me it is too long. My type-ups for each arc is about equivalent to your type-up for your Nazi arc. So I don't see how I'm overdoing anything. I just had more arcs jammed into one Season. Sorry for being active.

As too the pictures: I don't care if people want them bigger, but we need a uniformed size.

I agree. The picture near the bio should be uniform, but I wouldn't stop people from adding more pics down the line that are a tad larger.

I know I picked out a relatively weak example. I just went for the first thing that I came across that I found largely trivial. The article is about Aquaman after all, not Tempest, whom, considering what he's been through, is going to get his own article at one point anyway.

Thing is, there's a lot of flowery use of language I find unnecessary and information I don't really think needs to be included. I'd like to see these pages relatively concise and to the point. That's just me though.

So, like I said, I'm not going to debate this. Let's just everybody say what they think about it and catalogue that.

But you completely ignore my Captain comparison. :(

Also, you letting this get to you Harl? It is just a discussion.

The Captain argument doesn't match up since I had to detail his origin. I still condensed 22 pages of work into three paragraphs in the end, and I could've made it even shorter. I just really think that most of what's in that Aquaman summary can be condensed and I'm just tired of debating about it.

Calculating the ratios it actually is the same. I have all my posts compiled and linked and such on file...only Andy C. I believe knows why. I won't expand though since you want to cease this debate...but I just had to throw this last curveball. Consider the debate terminated now. :O

Also, Harl...I'll try to get that Echo post up later today. :cwink:

Look, I'll admit, and this is the last I'll say for now, that 2/3 paragraphs may have been a little minimalistic, but there's really no reason to not be able to condense it to 4 or 5 paragraphs.

Hey MB...since you are apparently "head of the UDC" stuff for guidelines and what not...why divide the characters first by their respective cities? Seems harder to find people if you don't know where they are. Also, some aren't necessarily bound to cities like the villains.

Trusty, just because you're an anal retentive mother****er who has to have every little detail into place, doesn't mean we are all like that. So, shut up and deal with it. :cmad: You want to change something, change it mother****er. But don't ***** at us to change it. :cmad: And incase anyone is wondering, I'm in a bad mood. :cmad:

No, it's cool. I was just asking because I was going by Lightning Lad, not Live Wire during my tenure as Garth. I always hated the Live Wire moniker. :o

I think, to a certain extent, people need to mind their own pages. Obviously, if there's some glaring fault, then it's your duty to correct it. But things like picture size and paragraph numbers? Leave that to the discretion of the writer.

EDIT: That's all I'm going to say on the matter.

Thinking about what I'm going to put in Sinestro's bio, I've been checking out some other character pages. And the controversies they've been causing.

I agree with the idea that the character pages should be blissfully short descriptions of the major events that a character has gone through. It's not necessary to write out every detail. Why? Because we've already done that. All of the details are already in our posts. And if someone wants or needs those details to interact with a character, all they have to do is read those old posts.

I can see why someone may want to put every detail in these bios. It's because we all put so much work into our characters, and we want that hard work to be seen and recognized. There's nothing wrong with that, but I don't think it's necessary for these pages.

As an example of what I mean, I'm going to look at Aquaman's bio and offer some constructive criticism. And no, I'm not picking on trusty or joining in on the earlier discussion. The reason I chose Aquaman is because, once I saw how long his bio was, I thought to myself 'If I was new to the character, there would be no way in hell I'd read that. It's just too long'.

But I did read it, and here's what I found. There are a lot of facts in the bio. trusty has done a lot of great work on Aquaman and has given the character a lot of rich history. But most of that history, most of those details, aren't necessary for a summary bio. They made all of his posts great to read (trusty is the reason I actually give a damn about Aquaman now), but they don't fit into a summary. And that's what I think these bios should be: summaries of our character's major events.

I went through trusty's bio on Orin and tried to pick out the most important/major items. Here's what I got the bio down to:

Aquaman and Tempest return to Atlantis after defeating the Thirst, but not before a spell is placed on Mera. The two take on a quest for the Lady of the Lake so Orin can gain the power to save Mera. They succeed. Orin also makes a trip to reunite with his son Koryak.

Aquaman is warned by the Justice League that Darkseid is coming to Earth. He unites the Seven Lost Cities of Atlantis to build an army against Darkseid’s forces while Koryak learns a powerful summoning spell from the Lady of the Lake. When Darkseid attacks Washington DC without an army, Orin battles him. Tempest and Koryak buy Aquaman the time to cast the summoning spell which merges him with the Titan Pontus. Together, they fight Darkseid but are still defeated. Orin is sent to the underworld in death while Atlantis’ generals, believing Orin and Mera's trust in the surface world led to their King's death, betray Mera and put Ocean Master in power.

Aquaman makes a deal with Hades and returns to the oceans while, unaware of this, Tempest and Wonder Woman search for Orin in Tartarus. While fulfilling his end of the deal by searching for Hades’ Helmet of Invisibility, Orin is imprisoned by the spell of the Sirens. Tempest and Wonder Woman learn Orin is alive and search the oceans with the help of Athena, Demeter, and Hermes. They find and free Aquaman.

In Atlantis, the generals that put Orm in power realize their mistake and overthrow him, restoring Mera to the throne even as Black Manta’s fleet successfully attacks the city. These events drive’s Orm mad and he rampages through the city, slaying Atlantean and non-Atlantean alike. Aquaman returns and defeats all of his enemies that had been attacking the city. During the battle, Triton kills Koryak, sending Orin into a rage. Poseidon himself has to save Triton from Aquaman.

When the fighting ends, Aquaman makes funeral arrangements for his son with Dr. Mid-Nite. The events bring Orin and Mera closer together and they decide to re-marry. Mera tells Orin she is pregnant and the reconstruction of Atlantis begins.

When this shorter version is pasted into the bio page, it takes up just 16 lines. And it's a bio that covers most of the important events that happened to Orin in the season, while still only taking a minute or two to read through. I probably screwed a few things up (I notice I did leave out the part with Aquaman's clone), but it's a quick read. And if I was a newbie, I could pm trusty for details, or search the thread for them.

Dammit, I'm gonna have to write one of these up aren't I?

It was good, and I said I did not mind to compromise. I just said if that were to come, I would have a link to my original. Because you still get detail, but you don't read 175 posts (that was the postcount for Season V arcs of Aquaman). Also, while it is a condensed version I'm fine with? Several of stuff not mentioned are vital to Season VI stuff that you guys don't know about: future arcs.

Damn it, I knew it! That was what I had originally, but then I thought back to you guys being pre-Zero Hour or post-Zero Hour whatever have you. Please change it.

Ok, the One Universe has been added to the Wiki. Figured I'd let everyone know.

So, uh... How old does an RPG have to be before it constitutes a page on this... wiki...

At least more than one season strong was what JRK and I discussed.

One Season would be more fair I think. Because, the idea is to make it easier for new people right? No reason to exclude younger RPGs just because they only have 1 Season under their belt and are on their second one.

Oh, if they make it to a second season, they fit the requirement.

Don't mind Trusty. He's just not very good at math is all. :o

Please...don't bring up math. I've been doing nothing but constant math the past few days...I'm going to go back in time and hunt down the man that created the course Calculus III and...teabag him.
