I read the script “Punisher 2”....

What's your opinion on the budget Dsarrio? The first film was 33 million with only 17 million for shooting. That's low for this type of film as Hensleigh said.

Yes that low, but If they want succeed a Punisher movies with 15 million $ is possible but it’s depends what you want do.
In the first one by Hensleight, the majors problem was the script, the lack of respect of the character and no imagination in the way of shot. But artistically, it was no cheap. I mean it wasn’t look like a direct to dvd, right ?

For the second punisher Don’t think about a kind of Die hard movies. Watch how tvshow (24h, Heroes, the Shield, Dexter) can be so emotionally strong with no big budget…
Lion’s Gate need a director with a vision about this character and a script that dare no to be politically correct, and rather based on its characters and its themes. For action I will try to be realistic like in the 7o’s with UFC fight style. What W.Friedkin or Don siegel, or John Boorman woul have done ?
I try to do this with on of my short “Feedback” ( http://dsarrio.free.fr). But more, I ‘ll be gory (and so realistic) during fight Mano to mano.

The tv shows can be done on a lower budget thanks to all the ads though and each show is like 40 minutes if that of actual footage times 24. That's alot of ad money. Is this correct?

you're right tvshow is not the same kind of production that cinema. but what I want say is that author think about strong emotionnal et ambiguous sequence, their character and the stylistic aspect of their show. they don't only think about huge actions seq and sfx.
for 15 million $ I guess that one feature cost the same prize that unless 3 episodes of tvshow24, right ?

....I read the script “Punisher 2” written by Nick Santora (Prison Break) and cleaned up by Kurt Sutter two month ago…
And I understand why J.Dahl doesn’t want shot this script. Is it better that the first one Punisher direct by J. Hensleight but not as must be a story based on this great character and this violent univer!


I proposed to them ( Lion’s Gate) ideas that perfectly captures Frank Castle, and I guess they liked them…but nothing happened .I also know that they really like me teaser. If only Thomas Jane could watch it….

I think I read somewhere that Garth Ennis said the 04 punisher film took too long, and that they shouldve had Frank wearing the skull earlier in the movie or something to that effect.

TV shows have commercialsl/ads that run between segments of the show. Those ads pay for placement which offsets the budget. Just like how product placement in films or characters in films sponsoring products can do the same.

I wanna add that if Jane returns to do the movie he should help with the script as well. That man not only makes the best Punisher but he's also a good writer... remember Bad Planet?
