The Dark Knight Rises I want Gotham to have more of a personality this time.

Joker you always have the best Avy's lol. Just had to say that.

I think he means that some times adapting things to film in certain styles are okay at times. And Nolan does go for a grounded appeal. The core of the comics are clearly there. And going his route has helped "for his view" adapt to the big screen.

I get what he is saying, yet still the soul of the comics are still there in full.

Thank you. I prefer a realistic type setting to these films. To make me get absorbed into the story, I have to believe it exists or can exist.

Jesus Christ, really? My ****in bad!:whatever:

Lighten up.

I was thinking about Sherlock Holmes last night and it occured to me that Guy Ritchie showed us a gorgeous Victorian era London that i never got tired of admiring during the film. What did Nolan give us in TDK besides Hong Kong? I cant remember a single scene (again, aside from HK) that made me open my eyes wide open. Not one.

Guy ****ing Ritchie gave Holmes one of the best settings a character could ever ask and what did Nolan do with Gotham? Nothing. Nolan gave us a deep and multilayered story but forgot about the visuals and about the point of making a batman film. That it has to be a batman film first and a social/political/economical drama second.

PS: Guy ****ing Ritchie can also direct great fighting scenes.

I dunno. I think i'd rather see a TDK-style Gotham next time.

The Gotham in Batman Begins was dirty, dark and gritty, true to the comic.

TDK was Gotham was basically just Chicago.

However, Batman Begins version of Gotham was a CGI mess compared to the TDK, and also was full of sets. TDK was filmed on location, with very little sets used and was much easier on the eyes.

I think the idea in TDK was to make Gotham look "cleaner" to show it was healing thanks to the efforts of Batman, Jim Gordon & Harvey Dent, at least that's what I took away from it. We may see a return to the darker, dirtier looking Gotham in the next film to reflect the city's internal turmoil at losing its "White Knight" (Dent) and the manhunt to capture Batman.

Just my two cents. I wouldn't exactly be angry if we saw a stone gargoyle or two.

Gotham is Gotham, not Chicago, nor Metropolis with a little island full of filth. So Begins didnt get it right either. Gotham is more like a 2100 New York + gothic + decadence and dirt.

And a city's neighbourhoods dont get cleaner and richer because the mob has lost ground. It takes years to turn a city around, not 6 months.

So you are you saying you only like realistic movies? so you find the lord of the rings a snooze fest I'm assuming?

My main problem is the last movie had us looking at Chicago & forcing us to try to pretend it wasn't Chicago, despite very distinctive landmarks and backdrops that all SCREAM "Chicago"; there was nothing I saw in any scene that said "Gotham".

Yeah, you can clearly see "Chicago's Best Pizza" written on a window as the Joker is walking down the street, mumbling "come on come on come on come on"

It is strange that they didn't even really try to cover things as blatant as signs that read "Chicago blah blah" or whatever. That would be a simple fix that would make a huge difference.
