Ideas for a New X Men Series

Only nostalgic fans like that overrated 90s show.So I'm with Craig Kyle on this one .I used to like the show growing up but X men Evo and WATXM has exposed how average that show really is.

I would definitely argue this. Not that it didn't have flaws-it did, believe me. In many ways it dealt with far more "adult" topics than its predecessors, though this can be argued that the censors let a lot more pass in those days. That show also gave surperior characterizations of Rogue, Gambit and Storm than we've seen in later series. (Evo excelled at characterizing Cyke and Jean). But I think it has a lot to do with also which X Men you grew up with. My generation know and love Claremont's X men, and this series gave you that. If you are younger and grew up with the likes of Nicienza (sp?), Morrison, Kyle and Yost, then I can understand your dislike of the 90's series. That's why I think that Kyle's objections stem from his dislike of Chris Claremont than anything else. And I know a lot of younger fans who like this series over Evo and WTXM.

And, I have to say, I love the cheezy one-liners. I miss that! Some of them are epic and are quoted to this day regularly.

I didn't want to have a debate about the quality of the 90's show. I can understand why younger fans might not care for it, much as I was born after the SUPERFRIENDS generation and usually think that show sucked. That said, the 90's show holds up better than a few shows of the time, aside for Batman: The Animated Series. It's tone was usually far more mature than the bright colors suggested. Despite the network restrictions on violence, the fights were entertaining enough for kids. I think it did a good job of providing a snapshot of what the X-Men were in 1992 while trying to accept their past and move a little forward. It's an iconic show.

But one reason why is it's length. It lasted 5 seasons, 76 episodes. When Marvel was in the red and couldn't really produce episodes anymore, Fox Kids ponied up the dough to finish the last season. Until another cartoon can at least, for heavens' sakes, last at least 52 episodes again, maybe then it can try to take that show's place in nostalgia for many.

I liked X-MEN EVOLUTION a lot too. But, again, no X-Men show has lasted even 52 episodes again. No Marvel cartoon period, as of this post, has lasted 52 episodes in 7 years. W&TXM was supposed to, but I guess not. I don't know the episode count for this anime version from Ellis, though. 12? 26? Is Marvel/Disney still undecided? I mean from the way W&TXM was being promoted at cons by the producers, the order that it was cut had to have come recently, so things are still in flux.

Hopefully, the X-Men anime is good. Should I even bother hoping for Colossus & Kitty?

Interview with Yost and Kyle. House of M and X men in Space was planned.I'm sad we never got to see Age of Apacalypse and House of M ,but happy we never saw x men in space, that very idea is to dumb, its a shame the comics and the 90s series did it

I'm hardly crying tears of sorrow for seeing how Craig Kyle and company would have handled HOUSE OF M, the story whose conclusion, M-Day, has gutted the X-Men franchise of it's core metaphor, and this most of it's relevance. It's been tilting at windmills ever since.

Still, AGE OF APOCALYPSE arc may have been nice.

At any rate, instead we'll be getting some Warren Ellis anime project. Yay?

As long as the Warren Ellis anime X-Men give the X-Men enough space to do their thing and not be overshadowed by anyone particular X-Man, I'd be happy. I just re-read the first volume of Joss Whedon's "Astonishing" and I thought he did a good job of giving the X-Men space to do their thing and not overuse one character (plus I thought it was funny when Emma tried to use the doctor as a human shield:hehe:). I also liked the way he wrote the scenes between Kitty and Colossus. Cyclops had a bad character design in "Astonishing" though (he looked like a slob whenever he was in civilian attire). Granted, he also had a bad character design in "New X-Men", so I wouldn't suggest using those designs.

So, ideas for voice actors for the next series?

Off the record - I grew to like Gotham Knights after a few viewings, though the character designs were hit or miss (the Scarecrow & Deadshot segments were done by Mad House, and Deadshot was really the only one where Bruce/Batman looked like he's supposed to look, although his Crossfire design wasn't too bad).

If they come out with a new series,go back and take some of the best elements from the 90s Fox series and Evolution and combine em.I have the Fox series on DVD and I never get tired of watching em again and again. That was one of the few times they got close to letting Wolverine cut loose and the characters had more emotion.

I would like to see Gambit and Angel as regular members. Of course Collosus and Kurt too.

And then, a more team based show, with a serious tone, as some has said. W&tXmen was really good, so a step in that direction, but with a bigger feel.

Honestly I've started reading the original comics and thats what I'd love to see them do next. A series with the original five with updated stories. Ideally at least for the first season we'd have Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Angel and Iceman as the team members but then perhaps season 2 we are introduced to new members Storm, Wolverine, Rogue etc etc.

AGREED!

I would love to see the original 5 in a animated series, with some good writers and art and animation, say for example how the new Young Justice cartoon has. I've probably seen every X-MEN animated series from back when they were on Spiderman and the X-men,and Pryde of the X-MEN movie, but the 90's X-MEN is still the best series ever. Wolverine and the X-MEN had so much potential, I hated it ended. Yes I want the original 5 in a series, and not have Wolverine,Rogue, Storm etc, not come in till season 3 of the series. Also if they make another X-MEN series and most of the team members are teenagers or kids, I want those kids to be the original 5. Also has anyone heard or seen more news about that new X-MEN anime that is coming soon?

I'd definitely watch a show about the original 5 if they made one, but I doubt they'd ever make an X-toon that didn't have Wolvie in it. Even if by some weird whim of fate we did get a show about the original 5, Wolvie would somehow get a guest spot that would allude to his joining the team later on.

i would like to see a series where they team up w/different mutants (former/future) x-men for a 3 epi. arc, sort of like sentai or batman, brave & the bold...

Okay, here's my idea.
I want a show with all the characters in the original blue and yellow costumes.
At first the lineup would be Beast, Iceman, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, and Angel. (and Prof X of course). they would be the main characters for the first 3/4ths of the season, then they begin to introduce new characters every now and then, the first few being Storm, Kitty Pryde, Collosus, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and eventually Wolverine.
The first five episodes would be a Character origin for each mutant, after that, we go to the brotherhood and have origin episodes for them as well, then the two sides clash. that's all I got right now, but I'll be thinking some more.

I always wondered what kind of series the "Pryde of the X-Men" pilot would have turned out. So I'd like to see an X-Men show with a classic line up that tackled stories and villains that either weren't addressed or didn't get their due in the 90's series.

The first couple of episodes could be the original X-Men lineup but then the new team would be formed to rescue them from Krakoa. Magneto, Hellfire Club, and Sentinels would be prominent villains in the first season.

Then we'd see stories like Mutant Massacre, Fall of the Mutants, Inferno. Donald Pierce and his Reavers along with Elsie Dee would appear.

Later on we'd see the X-Tinction Agenda, X-cutioner's song with Stryfe and Dark Riders.

Bored and a but obsessive so here's what I'd do in detail lol....

Something like simple... "The Uncanny" or "The Uncanny X-Men"

1. Prof. X is approached by FBI agent Fred Duncan; he wants information on mutants with magnetic powers. When the Professor tries to recruit a young mutant Astra, he encounters Mastermind, who also has an interest in the girl. Through probing his mind, he learns he’s working for Magneto. The professor uses Astra as a double agent to decipher Magneto’s plans, his students, Scott, Bobby, Angel, Beast and Jean leap into action to thwart the master of magnetism. Magneto’s motive is to shut down “Project Wideawake.”

2. Prof. X debates Senator Kelly on the MRA’s. A “mutant” attacks the senator, but the X-Men intercede. It’s revealed that the attacker’s human; The X-Cutioner. The president declines to pass the MRA’s. The team dynamic is further fleshed out; such as a shy Scott competing against the flashy Warren for Jean’s affection and Bobby’s attempts to prove he deserves the title of X-Man alongside his older peers; after all, he battled Magneto as well. After performing a vigilante act Bobby’s tailed by the X-Cutioner and unwittingly leads the assassin to the X-Mansion.

3. The X-Men seek out prospective student, John Proudstar (Thunder Bird.) Together they thwart Count Nefaria’s extortion scheme. When asked to join the institute, Proudstar declines, as he’s already been approached by government officials to join “Project Wideawake.”

4. Prof. X and Moira continue to enhance the danger room’s artificial intelligence for a more efficient training program. When Moira becomes fearful the program could develop a conscience, Prof. X implements safeguards. Meanwhile mutants Sunfire, Mystique, Rogue and Blindpsot infiltrate Weapon X to steal the adamantium bonding procedure. The group is captured and asked to join “Project Wideawake,” to avoid arrest.

5. Peter Gyrich and Dr. Bolivar Trask are enraged when Agent Duncan has “Project Wideawake” shut down. Beast takes advanced courses at Empire State University alongside Peter Parker, where the anti-mutant sentiment is increasing. He ponders why humans hate mutants, but love heroes. Beast teams up with Spiderman to stop their crazed professor Dr. August Hopper. Senator Kelly’s assassination is announced, the anti-mutant sentiment increases.

6. The Danger room’s A.I. system is now sentient, and calling itself “Danger.” Through a cyborg skeleton and illusions she demands to be treated as a human. She’s denied this as she can’t feel. Angry, she demands the safeguards implemented in her system are removed. As that is what‘s keeping her from being fully human. When the Prof. refuses, she infects the mansion and entraps the X-Men, threatening to kill them. Freed, yet unable to exhibit emotion, Danger accepts that she is a machine and leaves the institute in hopes to find emotion somewhere in the world.

7. (Prof X. & Storm): Seeing how stressed the students are, Prof. X plans a class trip to Africa, with the ulterior motive to recruit a young girl from his past; Ororo Munroe. While there, the professor battles his old foe, the Shadow King, who sucks him into the astral plane with the promise that only one mind will return to the Professor’s body. Meanwhile, the mansion is infiltrated by the X-cutioner; he steals the Xavier protocols.

8. Ororo tags along with Jean to an open casting in the city (hosted by Parisian supermodel Betsy Braddock) and gets discovered, to Jean’s frustration. The Professor’s psychic lessons are getting more and more intense. Jean hasn’t even decided whether or not she’ll be staying at the mansion following graduation, or going elsewhere for college. On top of that, the MRA’s are passed and Jean’s parents pressure her about registering. Overstressed, and fearful of letting everyone down, her powers flare out of control. Cassandra Nova, alerted of her twin brother’s existence on his recent trip to the Astral Plane, comes to Jean in the form of a friend and promises a mental escape within her own mind, thus luring the redhead into the Astral Plane as bait. Prof. X and Psylocke rescue her.

9. Angel’s mutant hating father passes, and his uncle gains control of Worthington Industries, until Warren graduates college. After an assassination attempt, he suspects the X-Cutioner, but finds it’s his villainous uncle, intent on securing the Worthington fortune for himself. Banshee takes a leave of absence to investigate Senator Kelly’s convenient death.

10. “Wideawake”: While tracking Henry Gyrich to Japan, Banshee is captured by Trask’s team and imprisoned alongside Thunderbird, Sunfire, Sunpyre, Havok, Rogue and Blindspot. These mutants were deceived into “Project Wideawake” and pitted against Sentinel prototypes (humans infused with cybernetic parts/ The Reavers). Banshee, aided by a disguised Mystique defeats the sentinel prototypes. He, Sunfire, Mystique and Rogue escape to the secret level where the mutant Gateway is stored. Gateway teleports them out, but remains at the base as he’s being blackmailed. Banshee offers the mutants a haven at the institute, but they decline.
a. “Project Wideawake” as told to mutants by Henry Gyrich and Trask is a government program where mutants are recruited and trained for the good of humanity. In reality, their training dummies so as to prepare sentinels to handle all sorts of mutants. Forge, another “Project Wideawake” participant helps Trask craft the repair program dubbed Master Mold. The X-Cutioner is revealed to be an agent of the program and delivered the Xavier Protocols to Trask. Gyrich also had Kelly captured.

11. The X-gang go to an Alison Blaire concert only to have Ororo and Blaire whisked away to the Mojoverse to compete on a “The Bachelor” like TV show with a battle tournament twist. The winner marries Longshot. Other participants include, Miss Marvel, Namora, Black Cat, Shanna the She-Devil, Invisible Girl and Enchantress.

12. “A Night to Remember”: Still searching for his sister Sunfire teams up with the X-Men (joined by Thunderbird, Psylocke and Dazzler) to find the now relocated “Project Wideawake” base. Prof. X locates the new base and under Mastermind’s illusion the X-Men (except Storm) infiltrate the base to shut down the project indefinitely. Unbeknownst to them, it’s demonstration night and world leaders, come to the base to watch the unveiling of the perfect weapon against mutant kind; an all mechanical sentinel. Trask plans to sell them, but after the mutants are easily captured, Master Mold reveals himself as the genius behind the project. He’s been manipulating Trask and allowing him to believe he’s crafted this, but now sees that the error in the project has always been human interference. He warns that all humans who refuse to comply will be detained for their own protection and replaced by cyborg clones, until the mutant threat is eradicated. As Master Mold captures the world leaders, who don’t agree with the program, or implementing mutant registration programs in their country, Beast hacks Master Mold ‘s mainframe. He learns it began to mutate from program to sentient being when a file known as the Xavier Protocols were downloaded into the base’s computer and that the MRAs from various countries are downloaded into Master Mold. The other X-Men find the inactive Sentinels. Alerted of Beast’s hacking, Master Mold sends X-Cutioner after him and begins phase 1. The Sentinels power up and Gateway is awoken, opening three portals, to NYC, Moscow and London who’ve already implemented mutant registration programs. On the surface, Storm crafts a storm big enough to disrupt Master Mold, but is attacked by the Reavers. The Sentinels go back online and enter the portals.

13. “Graduation”: The X-Men and captive mutants split up and follow the Sentinels. As the mutants battle the Sentinels all over the globe (NYC team aided by McTaggert, FBI, Magneto and Dazzler, Moscow team aided by Colossus and The Soviet Super Soldiers and London team by Captain Britain and Meggan), Storm and Mastermind stay behind with Prof. X to stop new Sentinels from exiting. Magneto, seeing the attack on the news goes to help the NY team, enters Gateway's portal. Prof X. and Mastermind pierce Gateway’s mind. Once in control, Prof. X coerces Gateway to open a portal to the sun, and Magneto casts Master Mold and as Many Sentinels as he can in. The Sentinels shut down. Thunder Bird and is crushed under a falling Sentinel saving Angel, whose severely wounded. The X-Men return to the states and honor Thunder Bird at their graduation. Aftewards, Amelia Voght and Angel (still unable to fly) leave the X-Men. Havok and Colossus enroll.

Wow, got a bit carried away

As Professor X grows more involved in his school and his mission she feels neglected and slowly looses faith. 4. Angel (17): The rich playboy who joins the team and shakes up the dynamic. He challenges Scott for Jean's affection. He's accustomed to buying friends and his flashy behavior prevents him from making friends with Beast and Ice Man initially. He warms to the team, especially the lat addition Storm. After graduation he leaves the team to pursue a more normal life.
5. Marvel Girl (17): Jean is the perfectionist people pleaser and girl all the X-Men crush over. She loves the X-Men but secretly wants to live the city life as a model, but won't leave the team because she doesn't want to disappoint them. Jean takes freshmen level AP classes at Empire State University.
6. Storm (16): She's recruited after the X-Men face the Shadow King. Cool, calm, assertive and naive she makes fast friends with the team and shows great leadership potential, which causes Cyclops to question if he's leadership material. Ultimately, she takes a secondary role and lets him lead.

I'd personally like to see the school side of the X-Men like in the films on a TV series as well as a mix of heavier and lighter storylines so it attracts a larger audience

Recently re-watched the 90's animated series. For the most part that series was nearly perfect and holds up well for being 15+ years old. I wouldn't mind If a new series came out and was just a straight up remake of that series with a few changes/additions.

- Obviously up to date animation
- Make it a little more mature/graphic. Show A HINT of sexual situations, adult language, stronger violence, and blood
- Add these story lines: X-Cutioner's Song & Fatal Attractions. Both of these stories could be the anchor of a season with filler/build up episodes built around a 5 or 6 part run of episodes
- Add flashback episodes from prof. X's pov which showcase the original 5

Other than these additions I wouldn't change much. The series had a great set up and the big over arching stories were played beautifully such as the sentinels, future/time travel, Apocalypse, Phoenix sagas, Phalanx, Wolverines history, and Sinister/savage land.

I'd have a cartoon series called Mutants... which revolves around the characters that appear in the x-men universe but doesnt actually involve the X-Men.

Think how HEROES on tv was alot of random people who suddenly gets powers and you have this like speggitti western style story where it all ends up to one conclusion.

(Pre-warning my idea exists outside the original 616 universe that we call the correct canon history of the x-men. So think of this as a What If universe.)

My Idea.

Mutants have been hidden for many years, thouse who have mutant abilities have either kept them a secrete, or retreated to isolated areas of the world where nobody would come looking for them. However a mutant goes public with there abilities (Magneto) which leads to the world reacting to the fear of mutants.

You are then introduced to the 5 characters and how there lives get effected by this. The first is Scott Summer's who is asked to join the X-Men (a peace keeping organisation created by Charles Xavier) Scott also has a girlfriend Jean Grey who is also a mutant but has kept her abilities a secrete from scott. The second character you follow is Agent Forge, who has recently put in charge of monitoring the mutant phenomina and with orders from the president has to form an all mutant cast specialist team, to which we have Jamie Madrox, Strong Guy & Wolfbane - The third character you follow is Rogue, who fears her ability and ends up in trouble because of it. However throughout the series she meets Mystique who attempts to act as a mother figure to her but Rogue falls for another mutant Gambit which Mystique attempts to get rid of. The forth character you follow is Wolverine who was part of project x - a project that was top secrete and now there agents are hunting wolverine down. So wolverine is on the run from characters like Sabretooth, Omega Red, Deathstrike. The Fifth character that you follow is Emma Frost who struggles with the ethical nature of the Hellsfire club.

Thhroughout the series the 5 core charactesr will meet each other and the story will be so intertwined that hopefully you will see them all come together to fight a common enemy.
