Alternate reality and dream sequences are a staple of the sci-fi genre. Smallville has already done two, and by most accounts, both were fairly popular episodes (Relic and Lexmas). Other episodes have hinted at the future with shorter dream and flashback scenes (Hourglass, Hereafter, Memoria and Scare), and we've had two time travel eps (Crisis and Reckoning).

I thought this would make a great "what if" thread to discuss possible alternate reality storylines for future SV eps. What would you guys like to see?

I've always thought Smallville should do their own version of the classic Star Trek episode, "Mirror, Mirror." Naughty Clark and wholesome Lex would be quite entertaining, both for fans as well as the actors I'm sure. :D

I think the final hours on Krypton would be awesome (and probably expensive). Though, rather than Tom playing Jor-El, I'd rather have Terrance Stamp and Sarah Douglas (Ursa) as Lara. Clark could be witnessing the events transpire via some kind of holodeck device at the FOS (since you bring up the Trek parallel ;))

This way, Clark not only gets to witness what life was like on Krypton, he'd be able to meet a holographic avatar of his mother and see how noble and brave Jor-El was in those last days on Krypton.

^ Niiiice!

You're right though, such an episode would probably be prohibitively expensive. :(

I want a follow up episode that can take place after the Justice Episode & after Clark agrees to join the Justice League before Oliver leaves Smallville / Metropolis

Have a hero that can time travel from the future go back in time & he asks Clark to come with him back to the future because future Superman has been kidnapped & is now in a Kryptonian Prison & & all of that mumbo jumbo & the Justice League with the help of our Clark (in a prototype Superman Suit) goes to help himself out. This would also be a good way to bring in Bruce Wayne for an episode because & any other character like Diana because itd be a two parter set in the future & not the current time

1. The destruction of Krypton

2. Lois seeing The flying Man in the Red cape and blue tights

3. Lex as President

I love this idea . :wow: :super:

33 views so far, and only THREE votes?!

C'mon you slackers, VOTE!

Might be interesting to have a small bit where a precog character sees a flash of Clark's future and sees The Watchtower and small glimpses of the JLA.

DITTO in capitals and bold. :woot:

I'm glad my suggestion is so popular :D!!

i would like an episode where during the meteor shower, Lionel finds Clark, rather than the Kents.

What do you guys think?

For a Clark on a Holo-Krypton episode, would you rather have Clark physically interacting w/ Jor-El and Lara (a la Trek holodecks), or have Clark observe events from a distance (like A Christmas Carol or A Wonderful Life)? Perhaps with Raya as his "guide."

I think such an episode would be really cool either way. The coolest thing that could happen in such an episode would be for Clark to actually help his parents get baby Kal-El into the ship before the planet explodes!

sorry to poke a hole: If anybody noticed, when Zod was pulled from Lex's body, it had the perfect likeness of Terrence Stamp, so him playing Jor'el doesn't work IMO (simply, b/c they've defined Zod's visual likeness as that of stamps). Otherwise, I like the idea, minus Stamp as Jorel.

I'm gonna stick with the good old dependable, which has been mentioned a zillion time on these boards, but is still my favored option for a future episode: A direct adaptation of the Animated Series episode: New Kids In Town. Everything in that toon episode is perfect for SV. All the mess of the episode happens, but luckily, by the end of the episode, everyone's mind is wiped, and Clark gets his glasses.

i am not wanting a mindwipe to end the series, i would feel violated

Terrance Stamp looks so different now than the way he did in Superman II. I really dont think that would be a problem. In fact he probably resembles Marlan Brando, in that regal sort of way.

You'll move on, just like Lana did. You may not understand that if you havent seen Sneeze yet. ;) :D

I've been wanting that for a LONG time. In fact, here's an OLD post where I mentioned it...

I'd LOVE to see an episode similar to what was done in an old Star Trek ep called Mirror, Mirror. Any Trekkies out thar? It showed a parallel universe where everything was the same except the Federation acted like Klingons. Basically, it was a what if scenario. In SV, the question would be what IF Clark was found by Lionel first, and the Kent's raised Lex? How the writers would actually be able to make that work is beyond me. It's easier in a show where techno babble is expected, and the existence of a parallel universe is just accepted at face value. But wouldn't that be entertaining? Transference was my favorite episode of the fourth season. An episode titled Mirror (wink wink to Star Trek fans - they're out there doncha know?) where Welling and Rosie get to play each other's characters would be the freakin' BALLZ!!!!!!!!!
:D

Could go either way. If he interacts, it would be best as a dream where he woke up and wasn't sure if it really WAS a dream. If he just observes, then I'd want TW to actually play Jor-El, like he did in Relic.

Hee! That's WAY out there, but that would be cool.

For those with horrible memories [raises hand], could you elaborate on the plot of that story again? I must have missed the zillion times it was posted here. :p

Argh! Please, no more MB. Please, just no.... :(

;)

Well, the Zod phantom resembled a bearded man, not necessarily Terrence Stamp. Besides, this is what he looks like now (actually, what he looked like in 1999 when he played Chancellor Valorum), and what I'd want him to look like on Krypton in the last hours:

Nice, just add The Superman emblem on his chest with the s curl in his hair and you've got Jor-EL .

the episode starts in the far future, post superman. The world is peaceful, serene, a utopia. Then suddenly, explosions, revealling that Brainiac is still reaking havoc on earth. He creates some sort of portal, and dissappears. Later, 3 new aged heros (from the legion of Superheros) arrive, and figure out that Brainiac has travelled back in time to destroy Superman before he becomes superman (think terminator). The three heroes jump into the portal, and are warped back to smallville.

meanwhile, Brainiac is ripping Smallville apart trying to find Clark, who is just kind of wandering around. Gets in a fight at the school dance, talks with lana.

Eventually, Brainiac finds Clark, and is about to kill him, when our three heroes arrive, and save clark. They show him his future, which he goes into denial about, and laughs at an image of his older self in costume. They suggest that he take on a disguise, and sneak home (handing him a set of glasses).

Clark runs off, while the others battle brainiac, eventually, they are defeated, and must retreat. Brainiac finally arrives at the Kent farm, where Clark is hiding, trying to explain what he has seen, both his glimpse of the future, and Brainiac trying to kill him.

Clark get battered a bit, and buried under some rubble, but Ma and Pa come out of the house with shot guns, and give brainiac a little trouble, until the regrouped heroes arrive, and take care of Brainiac, until they are nearly defeated again.

Clark gets pissed, beats the living daylights out of brainiac, destroys him by sending him to the sun in a boomtube.

Clark thanks the heroes for their help, then they wipe his mind, and everyone in the town, making them think a tornado had hit smallville (they do this on the basis that Clark should not know his future destiny). Clark is left standing out in a field, holding a pair of glasses.

it's a great little cartoon. It might be on youtube somewhere if you do a search, the episode of Superman, the Animated Series: New kids in Town.

I think the story, or atleast the concept works well. The presence of Pa Kent can be omitted. And we could get a chance to see what a 'future' version of brainiac look like (played by Marsters) as well as a fully powered and unleashed brainiac. We get to see a glimpse of the utopian future that superman brings about, as well as some superheroes from the future.

here's a link to when Ma and pa enter the fray

mine would be a light hearted spoof of the writers, superman, and jokes only known to the cast and crew

example

lex- Lana believe me when I say this but I will never become a diabolical genius

*cut to a laboratory with all kinds of devices*

lex hamming it up- hahaha! that clark kent what a fool to think he can stop my army of giant robots!

lois- oh no! won't someone save me!!!

*clark bursts through a noticeable fake foam wall*

lex- blast it!

or a poke at the writers faults

lex- ................shouldn't I be due for another kidnapping?

or a dream where clark is the brother of lex (like someone up top said)

a world were the luthors got to clark before the kents

could be interesting to see clark be a deceptive brother with powers or a more favored son to lionel

clark would also be going to the Kent farm purely for business purposes.

He'd threaten martha kent into paying up certain fees for the farm etc

lex would use clark to get rid of certain companies...........and people

I'd like to see a future episode. Kinda like 'It's a wonderful Life'. Clark is always reluctant about him being some great hero so why not show him how the world suffers because there was no Superman.
