IF Marvel Got the Rights Back and Announced FF in 2020 . . .

How would you feel if Marvel got the rights and announced a 2020 FF film?

  • That would be great! Bring it on. I can't wait.

  • Too soon. I can't take another one. I need more time to recover.

  • Not sure yet.

Imagine how cool it would be if Marvel Studios kicked off Phase 4 with the Fantastic Four. It would be a marketing coup. Just establish the characters individually, sprinkled throughout the upcoming MCU slate and end-credits scenes...then bam, Peyton Reed's FF come zooming in like The Beatles.

Loki, Kingpin, Stane, Winter Soldier, Red Skull, Ronan, and ... Yes, I'm going to say it ... Killian. These are the MCU villains I have enjoyed the most. I even liked Yellowjacket.

If the MCU gets a hold of the Fantastic Four, I think Doom would be great. I don't care what people think.

The biggest problem Marvel Studios has to face at the moment, though, is that I think they're going to have to distance themselves from this current disaster of a movie. I think this release is going to confuse a lot of the general audience ... Even some of my friends think that this current movie is an MCU film. Hopefully "Fant Four Stick" won't put a bit of a damper on the MCU for the general audience.

I'd rather that Marvel does Fantastic Four as a Netflix series as all of the movies so far have left a poor taste in people's mouths and then have them be supporting/minor characters in other MCU movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, Avengers etc.

There's plenty of crime-fighting superheroes on Earth, I'd say let them be supporting character scientists who go out into space a lot and happen to have powers and use them at the last resort.

5 years? That's plenty of time to recover from this fiasco, and it'll be in the MCU and with Marvel Studios where it belongs.

Remember how Marvel were scared of rebooting Daredevil and Hulk and thought that they'd never by successful so they did nothing with them?

F4 would seamlessly integrated into the MCU...theoretically speaking, they could already exist, Lost in Space/Time living on a the ship

FantasticFour_2_Cover.jpg

let them be gone from Earth for years (before Iron Man)...kind of like Planet of the Apes, or the Columbus shuttle. They can be remembered for being lost, no one knows they are Fantastic.

Doom is building his power on Earth.

They can be the first to encounter the Celestials or whomever, or even the Guardians if they don't come into the Infinity War

When they return to the solar system, they can see the Uatu or hit up the Inhumans.

Honestly I don't think it could be screwed up if Marvel had their hands on it and would give new life into the MCU, where The Avengers could take a back seat to Spider-Man and the F4.

I had a similar idea. It's pretty much the perfect route to take if Marvel ever re-acquired the rights.

It would potentially be pretty simple to bring them in. Say they operated covertly around the same time Pym did. Victor works with them, before his interest in magic gets him laughed out by Reed. Meanwhile, Reed's superiors at SHIELD authorize a coup in Latveria, which kills Victor's father. For revenge, he returns, fully powered on the day of the Four's big mission, attacking it and causing them to get lost in space time. He's been held in a top secret black site ever since, just waiting for Reed to find his way back home....

The "Lost in Space/Time" thing allows the Four to stay unaged, while Doom can use his magic to keep him young (that would also tie in to Dr. Strange). This would be the ideal option.

Oh, and get Andrew Scott as Doom:

If only Oscar Isaac wasn't Apocalypse (and a ****** looking one at that). He'd make a great Doom. In Ex Machina he had the cold, disconnected, kinda creepy and arrogant genius down. He has enough charm and wit to really sell it.

I honestly wouldn't give a **** that he was apocalypse if he was cast as Doom in the MCU. A much better fit IMO.

I would love the Fantastic 4 to be apart of the MCU. I'm sure Marvel would love it as well and would definitely find a place to bring them into the MCU. But I have a hard time seeing Fox letting go of this franchise at all.

Oscar Isaac would be a wonderful choice.

And considering he's beyond recognition as Apocalypse, I wouldn't exactly consider him off limits.

Hopefully he's killed off in Apocalypse and becomes a free agent. He's technically already on Disney's payroll. :oldrazz:

Cast an unknown theater actor as Doom. That way we can keep him in costume for the entire film and not have to see his face.

Moriarty was a great villain in Sherlock, and I would love to see him play a villain in the MCU, but not feeling him as Dr. Doom. He seems more the crazy type like you would want for the Joker. That type of Villain loves chaos, and his unpredictably is what makes him dangerous. Dr. Doom by extreme contrast loves order, he just wants to be in control of everything and everyone. He is highly egotistical believing he was born to lead, and his plans are to rule the earth and beyond by any means necessary. After all he is Victor Von Doom.

Surfer

I don't think another retelling of the origin would be necessary but I do think they should already currently exist in the MCU. The idea of them being lost in space for a given time is a pretty clever idea really. And I wouldn't object to a Doom Origin film in Latveria or something to that extent. Maybe the Avengers could cameo in his film as they try to take him down or something.

And I would really love to see Silver Surfer and Galactus brought into the Infinity War or wherever too.

Apparently now the argument is that Marvel has only good villain, so the rights shouldn't revert:
Here it is we've got a FF film just released by Fox with overall ratings in the single digits.

And they're worried about what the MCU would do with this franchise if they get it back?

Some people just can't man up and say that they were wrong.

i wouldn't want marvel to waste time on a solo FF film. I say have the phase 4 finale be a massive 2 part event movie.

Marvel's: THE COMING OF GALACTUS.

Have it take place a few years after we last see the Avengers and establish early in part 1 that the Fantastic Four are a new superhero team that emerged in that time between Avengers appearances.

If Marvel got the rights back, I'm sure that they will introduce very quickly the 4 characters as guest in their allready planned movie, and then use the Sulver Surfer and the villains (Doom, Galactus, Kang) to their full potential (minus Doom, none of them are damaged) in the future movies.

Then they will increase their screen presence slowly to "build a demand" for a future movie, probably in 10 years (maybe sooner if they do a Namor movie). It's not perfect, but they will need time to recover from Trank's treatment.

Exactly. They'd use Reed inserted somewhere in one of the MCU films and maybe do a Illuminati minus Xavier down the road.

Silver Surfer, Galactus, Skrulls and Kang are far more valuable to them than the actual FF. Guardians of the Galaxy would be the biggest beneficiary.

Avengers could also use Kang to time travel and reset the MCU just like Fox themselves did with X-Men and DOFP.

They need more than one phase to set up Galactus. He's a Thanos level threat.

I think he's a good enough actor to tone down the more insane aspects of Moriarty (though I would have loved him as The Joker). He has an extremly menacing yet likable vibe.

Oh how i do so long for this to happen. And not even because of the first family but almost exclusively their villains.

Bring Doom, Galactus and Silver Surver into the fold for Phase:ff: and I'd throw so much money at it. Without getting into casting (because so much can change in 5 years, and because I dont want to get my hopes up) this is what I'd like to see.

Fall 2018: Inhumans - 35+ year old Reed Richards introduced
Spring 2019: Infinity War Pt 2 - Silver Surfer in the post credits sequence.
Spring 2020: Thor 4
Fall 2020: Hulk 2
Spring 2021: Marvel's Fantastic Four - VS Annihilus
Summer 2021: Dr. Strange 2
Fall 2021: Black Panther 2
Spring 2022: Captain Marvel 2
Summer 2022: Silver Surfer
Fall 2022: Ant-Man 2
Spring 2023: Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Fall 2023: Marvel's Fantastic Four 2 - in space
Spring 2024: Marvel Universe: The Trial of Galactus

Gotta agree with this here. Great in Sherlock. But most definitely not Doom material. Doom needs to have a gripping screen presence. Heck if Cumby wasn't Strange he'd have made a crazy good Doom imo.

i was reading Books of Doom and if marvel got the F4 rights back i wouldn't mind if they rebooted the movie but had a netflix prequel mini Based on Dooms origins, his gypsy background and torment from his mothers passing, his mastery of sorcery and taking of latveria.

This is the only way people will accept F4 if they turn up as part of a larger expanded universe and are not the primary focus much what Avengers did for Hulk.
It may be then possible to give them a movie after that but it needs a redemption against a cast people are queuing up for.

I've been a fan since 1971, and I've always thought the FF is far more suited to episodic television. Especially when you consider that the soap opera/domestic sitcom elements are as essential to the FF as cosmic adventuring.
My suggestion would be a TV series SET IN THE SIXTIES, where every aspect of the FF concept works, especially their "beat the Commies into space" origin.
Their absence from current Marvel film continuity is explained by a comment (in say, Infinity War) that the FF disappeared on a mission back in 1970. (Same year the Beatles broke up and Kirby drew his last FF.) This foreknowledge would then cast a dramatic shadow on the TV show as we know they're headed towards something ominous...
