If Miller Is Off The Project...Who Is YOUR Director?

Well,i think it is silly to discredit Miller on the basis of Babe or Happy Feet. This isnt like hiring someone who has done nothing but blaxploitation comedies to do a superhero flick, Miller has done an array of different genres and he shouldnt be faulted for it.

Happy Feet was great, Babe 2 or whatever it was, didn't really make much of an impact...

Nobody is discrediting him, but I am not going to gush over him like he is the second coming of director messiah.

However, I would say, if JLA had no director at this point and you did a poll of whom would make a good director for this project, people in the industry and people on the street would not include Miller in the top 10.

Same thing goes for Chris Nolan Pre Batman Begins... ;)

Still doesn't mean that Miller is going to bring to JLA what Nolan did to the Batman Franchise.

No it doesn't, but how can you praise what a guy is going to do and say he is right for the project when he hasn't done anything and is responsible for a questionable cast and a rewrite of a script that had to be fixed...

Or Top 20 no less! My own personal feeling is if Miller walks, the film falls apart...again. And if WB doesn't get it out for next summer, it flat out won't happen. Period.

They'll use PC terms like "indefinite postponment" and what not. But, it sits around like Burton's Superman Lives or Peterson's Batman vs. Superman. Plus, they've got TMOS for 2010 and Batman III for 2011 to boot.

When I say "you" I don't mean you Jake Cassidy. I am generalizing.

Everybody said Singer was perfect for Superman because he did X-Men, looked what happened there.

Well it doesn't seem they have MOS in 2010 yet either.

Not just yet, true. But they do have a cast and director signed up. And depending on who you believe, writers on it right now. *Shrugs*

I think Joss W. would be good for this he is better for this than for WW solo film. Although if he does he will want to write also so that cant be not with the little time they have to get it to the cinemas.

I didn't take it personally, anyway. I was just trying to clarify what I meant. That's all. :yay:

Martin Campbell could make a great JL movie, too.

But it means you can't use that argument against Miller. If you say, he wouldn't be one of the 10 most suggested directors if you'd ask people in the industry and on the street, so he shouldn't do the movie cause of that, you would have to had said this about Nolan too and we would have never had that great movie cause of that.

And i think people are praising him, cause they liked his previous movies and think he's a very talanted director. Naturally, people like someone, who they think made quality movies before, attached to a porject they care about. Now, does that mean he is definitely going to make a great movie out of Justice League too? Of course not. But at least it makes it more likely than if you have someone, who only made crap movies before...

And Singer showed us, that even if you have someone who did great with similar movies before, you can't be sure. So, if you're saying "you can't prais that director, cause you can't be sure if he does this movie right" you can't prais any director at al...

I'm not saying he shouldn't direct the movie because he wouldn't even be thought of as a director for JL by industry and the general public, I am saying the only reason most of the fans are now praising Miller is because he happens to be directing the comicbook movie they want to see be made.

That is what I'm saying.

Hmm showtime i don't know about others but you can be sure that if it was (for example) Bay even with all the visual "panache" that he can have i would not be that excited.I would say "well it could be a fast moving movie with incredible visual but forgettable"

even if it was Singer ( that i adore too and i like a lot Returns ) i would be intrigued but it would not feel as perfect as when i heard the name Miller and Jl.

I respect that, but I honestly think you are in the minority. I think a lot of the posters on these boards didn't even have Miller on their mind when they thought about JL(M). I am not saying that Miller will do a bad job, or that he is a bad director. I just think for most posters, Miller has become bigger than he is due to the fact he is bringing something on screen that many of these posters have only dreamed of.

Ps : no it doesn't garantee in my mind that Miller will achieve a great movie.

but to be hyped for jl director movie again apart from Miller it would have taken a Cameron , or a Jackson (and Maybe Mc Thiernan in his goods days) .

the fact is when a Ratner is doing an X3 i try to have hope. there i don't have to make much efforts.

If Miller makes a great JL movie then that is fantastic and I would be the first to say, I should have had more confidence in this guy. However, I care about the characters not the director. If Miller takes care of the characters the way they should be, then there is no problem for me.

Ah reading people you are surely right.

now i found too from day one the prospect of a jl movie exciting .. but never in my wildest dreams i would have thought that Miller would do this movie.i was ready to have at best Wiseman (ok director imo ) ..and was "dreaming" to have a Snyder. ( good director but that's it imo.. that's the best i was expecting from Warner for this kind of job )

anyways, it will take some images , a trailer, to begin to change people minds (or on the contrary they will lose all hope :o :woot: :cwink:)

Okay, i understand that. It's not like i was running around telling how great Miller was, before he got attached to JLA. But if you would've asked me what i think of him, i always would've said that i think he's a very talented man. And i'm happy a director, i consider talented, is doing this movie, when there are ALOT of directors out where that is not the case. You know, it's not like "okay, i always thought this guy sucked, but now that he does Justice League, i like him...", it's just being glad to have someone who's work IMO stands for good quality doing this movie...

Same thing goes for Chris Nolan Pre Batman Begins... ;)

Nolan had David Goyer. A comic fan whose even written long runs for DC himself.

Singer had Tom DeSanto, another major comic fan, co-writing his script. Without someone to guide him like on X-men we got Superman Returns.

Miller has nobody writing the script, that I know of, like that working on his script.

He's actually a fan himself, though. He was actually optioned for "Wonder Woman" back in the nineties, heh.

yea they should have jla comic writers or atless bruce timm as a consultant for the film.
