Any suggestions for a replacement?

I mean, he says he's not abandoning the X-Men universe, but that's also not to say he'll continue directing. If Apocalypse is a success and 20,000 Leagues is given the go-ahead, I kind of doubt they'll delay the next X-chapter for him.

Edgar Wright is one of my choices.

Would also enjoy a return of Matthew Vaughn.

I still want Alfonso Cuarón, or Guillermo del Toro, or Christopher Nolan, etc. #aguycandream

And I hate to say this but if Singer leaves there's a chance the franchise will be reverting back to Marvel.

First Exhibit: X3 & Origins
Second Exhibit: FF reboot
Third Exhibit: Gambit's looking grim

Alfonso Cuarón would be interesting. As would del Toro, but he always seems to have a heavy project queue list. F*** no to Nolan.

And the rights are not getting reverted for a long long time. The thing about the copyright holdings is that the movies do not need to be successes, they just need to exist in order to keep the rights.

And Gambit is not looking grim. Directors drop out of movies plenty of times.

Your first exhibit invokes two films released 9 and 6 years ago respectively. When just last year, we got the biggest film in the series. So..... no.
Yeah, Marvel!

Like right now, not after.

H3ll let Feige direct it if he gets any of the lost franchises back.

I feel like I should've specified that I didn't want dumb posts like this one. :o

Also, Singer has nothing to do with Fant4stic the same way he doesn't have anything to do with Deadpool or any of the Apes movies or other Fox movies he's not directing. As of right now he has nothing to do with Gambit either.

Whedon or Favreau. [BLACKOUT]And reboot in the MCU. Not opposed to the Foxverse still existing, use Cable's debut in Deadpool 2 to reveal the Foxverse is an alternate timeline or something.[/BLACKOUT]

And just last month we got the worst CBM in Fox-Marvel history. But hey if Singer's still game for that XM/F4 crossover.....Lets replace him and Kinberg with someone relatively sane!

Ay there are no dumb post my friend only people who can't take a joke...I was serious about Marvel taking over though.

I like most of us agree a return of Matthew Vaughn would be great.

I'm not that into it, but I'm sure there are worse candidates.

I'd prefer it if they were gunning for some new blood in the franchise.

Christopher McQuarrie

He was involved with the franchise at its beginning. He nailed Rogue Nation. I specifically liked something Rebecca Ferguson always mentioned in interviews -- there's a rythm to his action scenes, in that he uses different musical cues to introduce different characters to a scene: that moment when her character enters the Opera was masterfully done. He'd bring an unique vision to the franchise in my opinion.

Plus, I give praise to Singer as much as anyone (except on costumes), but we deserve to see what another talented director (not hacks like Ratner) can do with the material.

I want one of Singer's guys to take over. Chris McQuarrie would be fantastic. Mike Dougherty is also another good choice.

Chris McQuarrie would be exceptional. Matt Reeves would be an ideal choice too. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was a great movie.

Nah Marvel has X men replacements the Inhumans the greatest and highest selling comic of all time. Their movie will be bigger than GOTG. They will replace and wipe out mutants in the comics, and everyone is looking forward to that and jumping for joy. Agents of Shield season 3 is going to break ratings record because of them in the upcoming season.

( The above post is full of sarcasm and lies)

The Rat-Man!

Rian Johnson, Duncan Jones or Alex Garland. Edgar Wight would be a nice change of tone.

Would love for Vaughn to come back like everyone else is saying and McQuarrie is a good choice too.

I wouldn't mind if they give Rupert Wyat a shot, after the issue with Gambit. Maybe give Mangold a full X-men movie.

Christopher McQuarrie would be great (he'd be good for Gambit too).

Vaughn is good but has the quirkiness of an indie director at times and did some weird stuff with First Class (like cat-Beast - and also I'm sure Angel Salvadore was his idea as there were rumours of a female Angel back when he was attached to direct X3).

The franchise lacks a real custodian to keep thing in line, though I guess they are making Kinberg into that person, given that we haven't heard a thing from Mark Millar in ages...

EDIT: Oh, and Mangold would be pretty good too, even though the last act of The Wolverine was a bit too cartoony and goofy in places....

Joss Whedon. Sure, he claims to be weary after two Avengers films, but the opportunity to direct his biggest comic book love might be too hard to pass up. Not to mention so many wonderful X ladies Singer completely squandered at his grasp to reinvent.

Yeah I don't trust Whedon grasping the tone of the Xmen and I certainly don't trust him with Magneto and other x-villains.

I do think he will be perfect for Spiderman.
