I wouldn't put much credence into the new issues. Probably written to be the next big comic book adaptation. Spiderman and Wolverine are pretty much on every team at this point. I don't read comics anymore so I can't tell you for sure. Maybe this stuff has grown on me, but it's good to feel like a kid again every now and then.

Hulk is one of the few characters that packs enough punch to be a major blockbuster. Thor failed to be a blockbuster as did Cap. That's why Marvel took them out of the summer slots. That's not to say Hulk can carry a movie himself, but with a good supporting cast I think he can. The Incredible Hulk is a bad barometer but also a mediocre film that could have been vastly improved upon.

Hulk and Iron Man is about as big as it gets. I think you need to scale it down a bit and cut the cord with the Hulk for a while.

You make some good points, indeed.

I voted Black Widow.

BUT most likely they will try to keep the same lineup as much as possible.

Edit: plus additions

Whedon won't do an Avengers without a female character. So unless they replace BW with another female character its a no go.

Hulk is an honorary Avenger. He left the group literally immediately after "joining" in Avengers #1, and promptly became an *enemy* of the Avengers. And later joined That Other Supergroup (that no one under age 30 remembers), The Defenders.

No, he was an official member. He was still a members in Avengers #2, and even showed up in group meetings, until the Avengers were tricked into thinking he was a villain and he left.

My only thought is that if you bring Pym into this, it might be a little too much having the 3 smart guys on the team and the boy scout and the prince filling out the reserves.

If you keep Hulk/Banner, the only way I can see that working if you bring in Pym, if he's the jack ass Ultimate Pym, and I'm not sure I want to see that.

Iron Man -> Ant-Man
Black Widow -> Ms Marvel
Hawkeye -> Wasp
Hulk -> Black Panther

Nobody. And I wouldn't know who to replace anybody with anyhow, I'm not familiar with the comic books.

Well, I'm going to go with a very unpopular choice and say Ironman, not because I have anything against Robert Downey Jr. but more because War Machine could ably take his place as Tony's Avengers liaison.

I'm POSITIVE i don't want to see that!

I'd say the Hulk, actually. He's only in the Avengers in the comics a few times, so the same could be said for the movies. I'd rather see him move over to the Iron Man films instead, keep the friendship between the two characters going. It was between Thor or the Hulk for me actually. Thor isn't always in the Avengers as well.

If this was about the comics, I'd have no problem with that. But these movies have to make money and if you get rid of RDJ, I guarantee you that you'll lose business.

I think that IM/Thor/Cap are irreplaceable at this point. Hulk is pretty darn close, but because his solo movies didn't do well, I think he is the most vulnerable.

You're correct.:up:

I voted who I thought would be the most obvious from Marvel's standpoint - male (plenty of other males), no solo film, not majorly popular/well known = Hawkeye.

If it were MY decision, it would be Hulk. I don't like his lack of character (imo, he's still basically a superpowered angry green ape. I also don't like the fact that he has an on-off switch now. And that he's apparently physically all you need to stop an invasion (it might take a little longer, but he'll do it).

The only problem is, I LOVED Banner in this, so would miss him if he were to go.

Now if he was slightly depowered, and more like EMH's Hulk, I'd DEMAND he stayed!

All just in my opinion - ye who are shocked by someone not liking the Avengers Hulk (other than when he chased BW), be strong :)

I would have said Hulk before the movie because of his personality. Then he stole the show.

Now, I think it would be Hawkeye.

None of them. They're all awesome and all played a distinctive role in the team dynamic.

Add me to the list of wanting to see nobody replaced or omitted.

Who voted Hulk? :argh:

I did. In the comics, Hulk left the Avengers pretty early. Right after the second issue as I recall. If anyone were to leave, The Hulk would be the most interesting.

what is that from!?

Its from The It Crowd. A Channel 4 sitcom, very funny I recommend you check it out.

Back to topic.

I would prefer if they all stayed but if somebody had to go then I would choose Black Widow and bring in good old Black Panther. You see change one "black" for another hehe

Half an issue in Avengers #1 + half an issue in Avengers #2 = 1 whole issue that Hulk was an Avenger. :word:

And once in between:

Wow, I can't wait to read that issue and find out who the Guest Villain is!!!

EDIT: Oh wait, that's a spoof cover. I thought something was up with the coloring and the figures looking too clean and somehow more-Kirby-than-Kirby. Nice job, what's that from?

Hawkeye also left the Avengers and joined the Defenders. Nobody's revoking his membership card.

Even though I don't want to actually see anyone replaced, I'll play with the premise of the thread and say Black Widow and Hawkeye, as both could hold their own in a paired spinoff movie franchise.

As for who replaces them, I'd go with Vision (as played by and embodying Clark Gregg's Phil Caulson) and Ms. Marvel.

Iron Man -> Ant-Man
Black Widow -> Ms Marvel
Hawkeye -> Wasp
Hulk -> Black Panther

This would be absolutely disgustingly horrific. I don't think we will lose anyone.
