If the JLA gets Made how would you design the Costumes?????

In the comics didn't WW first appear in a battle skirt? I know the star spangled swimsuit look hasn't always been part of the costume.

Yes, but it is the most iconic. It's the costume that people would expect. That's all I'm saying.

Iconic or not, not every comic book design can translate as is into real life, WW is one of them. I'm sure most people expected a blue and grey Batman to appear in '89, what they got instead was a serious interpretation of the suit. WW needs the same otherwise she risks becoming nothing more than eye candy. I see nothing wrong with an armoured style suit and battle skirt with same red and blue colour scheme, she has worn outfits like that before.

Well, I think the panties costume would work as well. Either way, I'm happy. I doubt they're gonna go with the armoured look anyway.

yea armor/battle skirt would probably translate better on screen then the other classic look.

I would make them exactly like they are in the comics. Superman would have the exact same suit in the comics, but he material would be a more rubbery one with no seams. Batman would have an exact replica, but more earthbound new materials. Aquaman would have the JL costume from Cartoon Network. WW the JL costume. Do like Donner did and do an exact replica from the comics.

YOU can't take her seriously. To the general public, the "star-spangled underwear" is Wonder Woman. It's been accepted in comics, cartoons, and live action for decades.

hahah...wow. I write and discuss comic book characters on a comic book forum. you can't convince me that the main stream audience knows more about wonder woman, cares more about what she looks like, or has a bigger investment in the character than I do, or anyone else here for that matter. it's so strange that i actually need to defend my geekiness. wtf? What has the world come to? they changed WW's costume in the show.

i want you to go out and ask 10 random people what WW's real name is. And don't do it in a comic book store.

On Xena, I really have my doubts about the authenticity of "war skirts." Can someone show some evidence that these things actually existed in history, and that all the Xena-WW supporters aren't just basing their position off of a fantasy TV show in the 90s?

i have no proof of war-skirts. I don't really need it. It really doesn't need to be authentic to me. I'm just looking at it purely as a look, not for historical accuracy.

Furthermore, just because she's Greek doesn't mean her costume has to look like armor from ancient Greece. Superman and Batman, with their capes and "underwear on the outside" sure as hell don't dress like modern Americans.

If anything, the Greek background gives it an even bigger reason to have a greek inspired costume. the underwear over teh costume is very iconic part of superman, and it should NEVER be dropped. Kids still dress like that. Its part of the culture, not just the comic book. But even batman lost his, and it was fine. Robin dropped his. If they can pull off a good look with the underwear...so be it. But i highly doubt it would work.

Are they even called war/battle skirts? Regardless whether or not they existed, they are part of what is perceived to be ancient Greek armour.

The costume still looks ugly.
I think this is a better picture

These are some versions they can play around with. If they can pull of the underwear look, i would be pleasantly surprised. I must say, i'm actaully digging the wrestling version, i hope gale has the bod to fill it.

^ I posted a design a few pages back that was kind of a cross between the second and third designs in that toy image.

yeah i remember seeing it. I liked it.

The costumes should vary from all other franchises since this is its own universe............

And since the Robocop Bat-Suit and the Superman diving-suit from the solo-movies look like crap... ;)

I think they should take from Superman Returns and The Spiderman films and go that way with the costumes and make them as true to the comics as possible. I want to see a comic book suit on screen =)

You wanna see 40 year old people on spray paints on their shapped bodies?

Here is a manip I made of Superman. Had to use CR because that is just a great shot of him in the suit.

I usually prefer the costumes to be adapted as close as possible to the comics, but hey since we may be getting JL along with a seperate Superman in MOS I figured why don't they play around with it a little bit.

Most I have done is remove the shorts and in their place made a darker area of blue coming down from the S to break up the lighter blue. Then I added a few designs to the boots because I felt they were a little too plain.

With the \S/ I didn't want to go with a 3 dimensional version like in SR (feel that was just too bulky to work underneath everday clothing). But maybe a slightly raised look with a more metallic feel to really capture the light for various shots.

With the belt I kept the oval buckle (no need at all for another \S/ IMO) and then broke it up into 2 additional oblong yellow peices around the front of the waist. Again trying to give it a shiny metallic look.

Still not 100 percent satisfied with it, may post another version later on after I clean it up a bit.

i'm sorry, i'm not feeling it. It looks weird and gives off a borat vibe. maybe if you extend the blue all the way down to his boots.

I still prefer the original design, but doesn't have to be spandex-type material.

Thanks, now that is all I will be able to see when I look at it :woot:
I get what you are saying though and that is one of the things I'm not 100% satisfied with, funny I was thinking about doing that same thing you suggested with bringing it down to the boots.

I'm going to tinker around with it some more and post again. Then I want to get back to the Batman one I started last week.

haha...sorry. I gave it a shot using your pic, (i hope you don't mind) of what i was talking about. I also made the arms the darker shade of blue also. Not the greatest manip, but i tired my best in a quick 2-min effort.
